My dmum did a paper egg hunt with the dcs today while we were out. When they found all the eggs they got a creme egg. Grin

They also made Easter biscuits.

There is nothing left for me to do. They have done Easter bonnets, rolled eggs, hunted eggs, decorated eggs and made Easter biscuits Shock

I will just have to eat choc with them. Grin

Scout19075 · 04/04/2012 21:36

Grin at carrots. I could do with a chocolate right now.

carrotsandcelery · 04/04/2012 21:40

I am trying really hard not to eat some choc just now. I am also trying not to have a PB sandwich. I think my emergency tea didn't do the job really.

Scout19075 · 04/04/2012 21:54

Mmm, thanks! Can I tempt you with a creme egg, carrots?

carrotsandcelery · 04/04/2012 21:57

I would love a creme egg Scout. Our local shop was sold out today. (It wasn't me!)

Scout19075 · 04/04/2012 22:15

I LOVE creme eggs. Love, love, LOVE them.

Scout19075 · 04/04/2012 22:17

I've wrapped four bags of sweets and I'm bored, so I've stopped for the night.

carrotsandcelery · 04/04/2012 22:24

There is no point if it is not fun anymore Scout. Tomorrow is another day. I have had a very weird experience tonight. I was lurking around the active convo board and read a thread which contained a very, VERY, distinctive story in it. That event happened to a friend of mine but the person who posted is not my friend. I am totally baffled.

Scout19075 · 04/04/2012 22:33

Do you know for sure it wasn't your friend? I once thought I found SiL2 here but the poster wasn't [whew].

carrotsandcelery · 04/04/2012 22:41

I did a bit of snooping and the person who told the story has twin boys. My friend doesn't have twins at all. It is very, very, very strange.

Morning all, I am lurking while I have a coffee, trying to wake myself up. I didn't seem to sleep that well last night.Hmm

Hope your walk goes well this morning and has the desired effect. Wink

CatsSleepAnywhere · 05/04/2012 09:07

I'm off to sort breakfast and get showered and dressed. I will hopefully feel better afterwards.

carrotsandcelery · 05/04/2012 14:22

Hello everyone!

zoo when I have a veggie curry in a restaurant it usually has potato, cauliflower and green beans (french beans?) in it. They often have carrot rings as well.

We are just off to take Twilight for a wander round the block for a sniff.

We have been out all morning in the city and need a bit of fresh air.

Scout19075 · 05/04/2012 15:54

You ladies might be ladies that know these things -- is it possible to buy white eggs in this country?

carrotsandcelery · 05/04/2012 16:22

Scout to get white eggs here you would need to go to a farm shop/farm selling free range eggs I think. I have some duck eggs just now which are bigger and white. If they are for decorating rather than eating that should be ok shouldn't it?

How rural are you when you are at your inlaws? Is there a farm shop or are there places with signs at the end of the track, by the road, advertising free range eggs? That would be my first stop.

Is the hen's colour that dictates the egg's colour? I seem to remember hearing that but it could have been a friend winding me up. Nearly all my friends have chickens in their gardens.

Scout19075 · 05/04/2012 16:29

Yes, there are some farm shops not too far from here, carrots. Will have a look in the morning, when MrScout's around to have Toddler. It's too late to try and go now (if I had thought about it I'd have gone while I was out at HobbyCraft & Tesco). They are for dying but then we were going to eat them on Easter, as part of the buffet in the afternoon (I'm not one to let the hard boiled eggs to go waste if I can help it).

Package from my mom actually arrived BEFORE THE HOLIDAY. (Mom never seems to be able to get things to arrive on time.) WAHOO!

carrotsandcelery · 05/04/2012 16:32

Be careful what you use to decorate then. I know you have a proper kit so that is presumably fine. When we have used felt pens in the past it has soaked through onto the egg. Even though the pens said non-toxic I wouldn't let the dcs eat them.

I can't guarantee the farm shops will work but it is the only suggestion I can offer. Shop bought eggs are always brown for me.

Scout19075 · 05/04/2012 16:35

Oh yes, these are long tried-and-tested kits that I grew up with and always fine. I also have some of those shrink-wrap things, in case I can't find white eggs to dye. However, they just don't seem as fun (I want proper dyed eggs like when I was a GirlScout).

carrotsandcelery · 05/04/2012 16:39

I have never seen a shrink wrapped egg.

Scout19075 · 05/04/2012 16:43

Shrink wrap for eggs. My MiL got Toddler & I a set last year that we didn't use.

carrotsandcelery · 05/04/2012 16:46

Well I never! It is true that you learn something every day! Thanks Scout.

Scout19075 · 05/04/2012 16:48

I found some cheesier looking ones with sparkly stickers for 49p at HobbyCraft this afternoon. Got a set for next year -- the stickers are too little/fiddly for TS this year. I'm sure they'll be fun, but I want to dye eggs!

carrotsandcelery · 05/04/2012 16:53

I am really tempted to get some of those shrink wraps just for the fun of it. It would be much more fun hunting for them in the garden than paper eggs and I think the dcs would love watching them shrink on.

I know what you mean about dying them Scout. If it is a part of your happy childhood memories you want to recreate them, both for yourself and TS.

Scout19075 · 05/04/2012 16:59

Either way, dyed or wrapped, those will be the eggs the Easter Bunny hides Saturday night for Toddler to find Sunday morning (another crazy childhood thing for me). It will give TS some practice hunting for eggs so when his cousins are here for the hunt in the afternoon with chocolate eggs and filled plastic eggs he'll have a chance.

I'll let you know how the wrapping goes, carrots.
