carrots, I don't know Skylanders but sometimes MrScout plays shoot-em-up games against former coworkers on the XBox online. And yes, I agree, it's cheaper and far more pleasant than a sports car and a bit on the side. I draw the line at MrScout playing them around Toddler, though he hardly plays any more.

I have done things today, I just haven't really been online to do a list on the other thread. I will try in the morning. Toddler and I had a wonderful afternoon in the sunshine. I've decided that every day this week that it's nice TS and I are going to go to the park or playground to run around, swing, slide, feed the ducks, etc. He and I both work better together when we've had a chance to get out of our house to play together (whether it's outside or soft play). I've heard the weather's meant to turn soon so I'm going to take advantage of the sunshine while we can. I know the house is a tip and needs sorting but I don't want Toddler's earliest memories of me/us to be me constantly cleaning but of afternoons feeding the ducks, going for walks, looking at the birds and bugs, etc.

I'm sorry, I didn't mean for last night's post to sound as snarky as it did. Blush

CatsSleepAnywhere · 27/03/2012 09:30

Morning all.

I am now not well with a cold and DD is still not quite back to normal. Sad
DS was o.k. so I have taken him to school. We are off to see the doctor later.

I think I'm giving up trying to Fly for this month. Next month might be tricky cause the DC are on half term. I think I am just sticking with basic ticking over jobs, anything more will have to wait.

Hope everyone else is keeping well! Smile

carrotsandcelery · 27/03/2012 12:45

Scout it didn't sound snarky, just good sense. The time they are little is precious and should be enjoyed.

I keep the majority of my flying for when my dcs are at school which is why I worry about the holidays as that is precious time too and I don't want to waste it doing housework.

That said, housework needs to be done and we are all happier if things tick over efficiently so, for me, there is a happy medium, which is why I am trying to figure out some sort of compromise routine for the holidays.

I also think my dcs are of an age where they need to learn how to do these things and to do them for themselves, especially if they store up laundry and then bring it all down at once when they tidy their room Shock

I have been off on a jolly with a friend this morning. We have had a lovely time potter around a local village in the sunshine, doing odd jobs and bits of shopping.

carrotsandcelery · 27/03/2012 12:46

Cats Poor you. I hope the doc can help kitten and that things get back to normal soon.

Scout19075 · 27/03/2012 13:25

Poor Cat and her kittens. Sad Would some virtual chocolate Brew help?

carrots, when Toddler woke this morning he asked "Walk? Toller? (Stroller his doll stroller/pushchair)" So I asked "Do you want to take your stroller for a walk?" "Rest." "Oh, do you want to go for a walk with your stroller after your rest?" "Yes, Mummy, walk toller rest." He protested going for his nap until I said "Remember, after your rest we can go out for a walk." Well, I've never seen Toddler run to his room so quickly! His conversation this morning and his reaction to nap confirmed what I thought last night we need to be outside together as much as possible while the weather is fabulous. I have managed a few jobs this morning -- some ticking over stuff and some extras.

carrotsandcelery · 27/03/2012 13:38

Have fun with him Scout and enjoy the sunshine.

CamperWidow · 27/03/2012 14:27

We went for a 15min each way walk today just to get an ice cream. You need to get out and let them burn off some steam, don't you! We would have been out earlier but Lol got up and said 'knickers today Mommy!' so I wasn't going to risk it until she's gone through them all! Grin
DH plays on his xBox quite abit. I made him get headphones and turn the volume off so I don't have to listen to him blowing people up. It give me time to go on here and do other stuff, so I ain't complaining! Not allowed on when the kids are up though!!!!

Muddles is sporting a nice shade of broccoli green this afternoon! Grin

carrotsandcelery · 27/03/2012 14:50

Ds has to have very limited screen time as it interrupts his sleep pattern and works it's way into his psyche.

This diagnosis was proven last night. I let him play half an hour longer on Skylanders so that I could help dd with her homework project without constant battles for attention (as happened the Monday before).

I paid for my lax parenting though as he was up a few times during the night having had nightmares about the characters in it.

It doesn't normally bother him but clearly, as the psychologist says, it needs to be limited.

Camper Grin at the broccoli green. It should make a good extra layer of sun screen!

CatsSleepAnywhere · 27/03/2012 16:21

Anyone around to give me a gentle shove?

I'm even failing at the basics today cause I feel vair tired and not well!

If I don't do something soon though we will run out of cups etc [slattern].

CatsSleepAnywhere · 27/03/2012 16:24

Oh crap!! DD has just climbed on my lap, lovely as that is, makes it harder to do stuff. She has been clingy today. I think she is showing signs of improvement.

Scout19075 · 27/03/2012 16:45

Today is one of those days when I am very grateful to be a sahm. It was nice to have a run around in the playground then a slow, rambling walk through the park with Toddler stopping now and again to point things out to Bunny ("tee! berd" "stick!" "water!!" "beedge!")

liveinazoo · 27/03/2012 18:04

hello everyone

was up with ds in the night...we went to a country park for a bit after school yest as weather was so lovely.after 30mins playing quietly in sand he clambered onto my lap and began to cry.was burning hotSad
has been snot ridden and with an increasingly crap cough since saturday so think its got a hold
he seems better now but has been a long day, especially when you are cooped up inside when the suns shining
carrots we have a flying plan in place i use at the weekends as its just me and then it will transfer to hols
i dont do lay ins and bedtimes remain the same
breakfast at 7/7.30 then get washed and dressed
wash up
30mins to wash up
make sure front rooms ok
put washing on and wipe surfaces
during this time kids make beds and make sure all washing in laundry baskets then get out a jigsaw/drawing at the table out of my way

we then have time together til lunch
washing gets hung up and dishes done
if we have been playing at home tidy up happens before lunch

p.m together til 4
then its like after school-showers/baths while i start dinner then quiet activities til its ready
tidy away before eat
wash up,stories,bed
wash floors and quick tidy round

it allows us to coast

hope that helps.x

liveinazoo · 27/03/2012 20:04
Scout19075 · 27/03/2012 20:35

No problem, zoo. I'll leave the tin out if you want more.

carrotsandcelery · 27/03/2012 21:10

Thanks for the routine tips zoo. I think something like that will be what I do here. I am hoping to get the dcs involved to speed things up and teach them some responsibility.

Dd is approaching the time of year when she needs to think about earning her right to the cash for pony camp. It is really expensive and she knows we are not well off right now. Luckily I can put aside for it but I don't want her to take that for granted.

Last year she had to earn it by doing things which made me happy. Each time she did she earned a virtual pound towards the cost of camp. We both enjoyed it and she felt really proud of herself once she had completed the challenge.

Scout19075 · 27/03/2012 21:43

carrots, the things that make you happy -- is that chores/jobs or other things as well, such as sharing a favorite toy nicely, holding doors, etc.?

carrotsandcelery · 27/03/2012 21:48

Scout it is anything she does that makes me smile. Some of it was jobs, some of it was being kind to her dbrother, one thing was choosing to do something at school which frightened the pants off her (she did it without me asking or encouraging), there were all sorts of things. The best ones were the ones she did without thinking of the gain for her.

CatsSleepAnywhere · 28/03/2012 05:56

Morning all, things are improving here (healthwise) so I am feeling a bit happier today. Grin

DD seems to be getting over her flu. She is starting to be more like her normal self but still has a nasty cough. She has spent quite a lot of the last few days having naps in the day which is very unusual for her. Her fever seems to have gone now too. I am in two minds about whether to send her to nursery yet, will have to see how things go this morning. She has been up since 4.30am.

I am o.k. apart from a bit of a cough and the odd back pain.

Hope everyone else is alright this morning.
