Sympathies Cats. I have a temp, headache and sore throat too. I think that is what is wrong with ds.
zoo to try to keep ds in bed in the morning we are currently making a chart every night which he fills in when he wakes up in the morning. On the chart he has a box for when he wakes up and another box for when he gets up.
He then has a list of activities and boxes beside them and he ticks the box(es) for the things that he does while he waits in bed. eg drawing, listening to a story on CD (with headphones), reading and watching his colour change light.
If he manages to stay in bed to 6pm or after then he is rewarded. The reward can be Golden Time one to one with dh or myself, or it can be a small toy reward (he got a balloon one time he managed it for example) or the rewards can be saved for something bigger eg a trip to the park or similar. Golden time can also be saved for bigger spells at the weekend.
To rules are that he has to be quiet and not wake anyone up. If he wakes anyone then he doesn't get the reward.
We are in the second week of this and he has stopped asking for rewards for now. I don't know if that is because he hasn't stayed in his bed or because he has stopped thinking about it. He has been quiet though which is a start.
I am not convinced he has been in his bed as he is still ridiculously tired at bedtime and still having meltdowns during the day.
To be honest the Golden time is lovely in theory but very hard to give when you have 2 dcs and your dh doesn't come in until very late in the evening. I can only imagine it would be even trickier with 3 young dcs to cater for.
