Oh and made beds. Feeling like it's all an effort though today! In some ways I can't wait for Monday as it will hopefully be a start on the road to recovery [hopeful emoticon] Wink

bessie26 · 22/02/2012 14:37

I get my eyelashes tinted too - mascara & I have never got on!

I've tidied up from lunch, tried all the clothes on from my Next order (and have put almost all of them back in bags to be returned Sad), got some soup out of the freezer for tea & drank a Brew. Time for sleep/rest now.

carrotsandcelery · 22/02/2012 14:53

I have made the tofu thing, well most of it as I add the tofu and nuts near the end. I have had to put 2 cans of light coconut milk in so it makes it quite an expensive meal. I maybe should have added stock instead. There is loads of it though so it might do 2 nights which would make it more economic. I hope everyone likes it.

I think I will cook the tofu though. I'm scared it goes slimy if I just chuck it in the pot.

Good list BC.

I haven't done much else in the house although I did do a few more jobs when I was in the local town getting my hair cut.

liveinazoo · 22/02/2012 16:42

i still havent got much done
cant decide what i fancy for tea
think i will pointy stick myself upstairsand remove the toys that have been migrating into my room.if i can manage it the windows and cobwebs too
at least will fel like ive done something productive while i have a think about tea and it will stop me comfort eating anything else as i have been all day

carrotsandcelery · 22/02/2012 18:38

Well the tofu was bleurgh! Bleurgh, bleurgh, bleurgh! And we have a vat of it too. Sad

On a happier front I have realised that we are getting home from activities in daylight more often so Spring must be coming.

I am a bit Blush about how little I have achieved today in the house. I still have washing to hang and now have more dishes to do. I don't seem to be getting beyond the basics.

Scout19075 · 22/02/2012 19:12

I am definitely a poorly girl -- two layers of clothes, three layers of blankets/duvet and I still can't stop shivering or get warm. MrScout is bringing home pain pills and dinner. Fingers crossed Toddler doesn't get it. I have done nothing today.

liveinazoo · 22/02/2012 20:04

poor scout.hugs and hot water bottles.x
carrots im sorry dinner wasnt nice.i started a thread for tofu as ive no idea what to do with itConfused

i rallied and got the toys from my room and washed the windows.Smile

im trundling off now to watch bit tv and relax.

hope all poorly flyers are a bit better tomorrow

carrotsandcelery · 22/02/2012 20:35

Scout that is the pits. I hope MrScout is home fast and can take care of you.

zoo we saved the situation by having pancakes and blueberries Grin

Another load of dishes is in the dw, the washing is hung and dh has taken it upon himself to go through the odd sock basket and pair the ones whose mates had finally made it into the odd sock basket. I presume he was missing a favourite sock but I am delighted Smile

We have had to light some candles as the kitchen smelt a bit odd (cooking smells). Luckily it is warm enough to have the skylight open too to air the room off some more.

I am trying to relax now in the hopes of a bit of sleep later. I was woken a lot last night which led to upsetting dreams that have hung around me all day.

zoo bessie's blog has a gorgeous recipe for ginger and tofu that the whole family here love. I will look for a link for you. That was the first recipe I made with tofu and it was a big success.

carrotsandcelery · 22/02/2012 20:47

Gah! I can't get the websites to work. Remind me later/tomorrow and I will see if they will work then.

bessie26 · 22/02/2012 21:48

here are all my tofu recipes - the one carrots mentioned was Sweet Ginger Tofu

scout I am all wrapped up in bed too. I had some brufen & a bath and I am still feeling achy DH went to the Dr & was told he has a viral throat infection (he didn't ask if it would be contagious ) and has ABs, a throat spray & some soluable asprin to gargle with. Hopefully he will feel a bit better in the morning & stay away as long as possible! (friday)

I'm supposed to be taking DD2 to her swimming lesson tomorrow, but doubt I will do that - I can't risk infecting all the other babies. DD1 seems absolutely fine, pre-school said she was fine all day & she went to bed happy. She does have some spots on her hips though (glass test ok & no temp), so am not sure what to do if they are still there in the morning.

carrots are you the only one left who's well? I hope you have done all the missions on our behalf? (no pressure Wink)

carrotsandcelery · 22/02/2012 21:54

bessie I am trying to be sensitive to the predicament of those on the thread and not make anyone feel bad by doing any missions Wink

Why has the doc given your dh ABs if it is viral? I have never heard of that before. I hope he feels better fast (and stays where he is) as throat infections are grim. Poor man. Sad

carrotsandcelery · 22/02/2012 21:56

p.s. Thank you for the links. It wouldn't load here.

bessie26 · 22/02/2012 22:02

I thought it was odd that he got ABs, but I don't really understand these things that well. DH's txt says that he has a "viral infection" - he is quite bad at listening a bit deaf though, so it's quite possible that the Dr said he didn't have a viral infection!

bessie26 · 22/02/2012 22:03

oh, and thank-you for being so lazy thoughtful carrots wrt the missions! Wink

BlackCatTryingToFly · 22/02/2012 22:07

Just popping in before bedtime. I'm o.k. thanks Zoo Smile thanks for thinking about me.
Will catch up with everyone tomorrow.

Night all.x

carrotsandcelery · 22/02/2012 22:12

Sleep well BC Smile

bessie always happy to be lazy of help.

If it is a viral infection I would imagine he is infectious. If he has tonsilitus then he probably isn't as long as he doesn't kiss anyone. It is really horrid though and it probably wouldn't be a good idea to drive a long distance feeling rank like that.

Whenever dd has had a bad throat they have said ABs for bacterial infection and nothing for viral infection. I am definitely not a medic though and if it is not a doc he knows well there is no way to know how free he is with the ABs. (They are very cautious with them here.)

Scout19075 · 23/02/2012 07:22

The problem with shivering fevers is once you take some paracetomal and it kicks in it makes you go all hot and sweaty. ARGH.

bessie26 · 23/02/2012 07:22

Well, after many hours trying, I did eventually manage to cough my tonsils out around 5am. And then slept through all of the alarms. I am running approx 30min late. (currently feeding the baby) and haven't drunk any of my Brew yet.

BlackCatTryingToFly · 23/02/2012 07:52

Morning all, I am up, showered and dressed. Just having my breakfast now before the DC get dressed. Feeling a little brighter this morning.Smile although still got up early (5.00am).

Will pop back later on.

bessie hope you get where you need to be on time.

will be back at 10 to catch upand probably for a pointy stick

liveinazoo · 23/02/2012 07:56

p.s thanks for the link bessie i LOVE ginger so may start with sweet ginger tofu

have you ever used soy mince/tvp?

carrotsandcelery · 23/02/2012 08:17

Morning all!

Sympathies to all with coughs and colds and fevers. Dd now has a cough and red sore throat but she is running round the house reciting her poem for school so I don't think she feels too bad.

zoo I think apricots would be lovely in the muffins. Yum!

I have used tvp years ago but not recently. I used to be able to get it dried from the health food shop but it is not easy to come by out in the countryside. Iirc I had to soak it first then cook with it as usual. Personally, nowadays I would use a can of green lentils instead.

I was woken through the night by both dogs, a nightmare, needing the loo and then indigestion Shock so don't feel too spritely but I am sure I will warm up.

I am washed and dressed and ds and I have had breakfast. Dd is having hers now, after a fuss.
I have also already done some mopping as ds was out on the swing and trailed in loads of mud

bessie26 · 23/02/2012 09:26

zoo I used to use TVP years ago. I never really liked the dried stuff (I think it looks gross!) but I did like some of the frozen stuff. Our Holland & Barrett used to do a good selection (haven't been in town to look for ages) Realeat was one of my favourite brands, but I think you have to try them & see what you prefer! Have you tried tempeh? (it's soya but made differently to tofu) I've only had it once & was very nice, but the hippy health food place I got it from closed down Sad

DD1 was late to pre-school (820), but it doesn't really matter as they serve breakfast until 9am. She gave me a huge grin & wave as I left, and had no temp or spots this morning, so am pretty sure she hasn't got this lurgy. Perhaps she just has the cough I had last week?

Dd2 has finally finished eating her toast now, so I'd better go play.
