I lost somewhere around 35-40 lbs of poundage I couldn't really afford to lose on my first round of treatment. I spent 11 months not hungry and even my favorites/comfort foods couldn't tempt me. Now that I'm hungry again, and knowing I have another 11 months of not eating ahead of me, I'll eat two meals if I'm hungry or two chocolate bars or whatever (though I try not to let TS see me eating too much "junk"). I've only put on about 25 of the lost pounds so if I lose another 40 I'm in trouble. I'm trying to bulk up. Problem is we don't have in what I'd really like (a great big ice cream sundae) and I don't know what to have of what is in the cupboards.

Am considering a cup of tea (Shock I rarely drink tea) -- what goes good with tea?

BlackCatTryingToFly · 29/01/2012 20:28

Hi all, I am munching on biscuits with a chocolate drink Brew.
Been a very exhausting day! The DC have been pretty demanding today so I am feeling drained.
Hopefully will feel better in the morning and ready to go again.

carrotsandcelery · 29/01/2012 21:36

Scout you can munch away to your heart's content then. I can't join you but I am very good at suggesting lots of delicious things to eat if only I could get away with it. How about I have the craving and you eat the food? Wink

I have had a cup of decaff tea and an apple and an orange and sobbed my way through "Call The Midwife" again. Scout can have my Rolos and the chocolate digestives that dh bought at the shop for £2.19 Shock I will have to stock up at Aldi or Asda next time I am in the big city if he is going to pay that for them.

Dh loaded the dw NOISILY through my programme. I will return the favour and look innocent at the earliest opportunity Grin

I still have clothes to lay out and packed lunches and ds's snacks to make.

bessie26 · 29/01/2012 21:41

scout you need biscuits or cake with that Brew! Grin

carrots we got the sachets of miso soup from sainsbury's, but as I just discovered, you really can buy anything from amazon!

I'm drinking wine, failing to write a menu

btw carrots did you see the Recipe of the week? Sweet potato falafel - says they are good for lunch boxes

cairnterrier · 29/01/2012 21:45

I used to have a guinea pig when I was little and she used to shout every time we opened the fridge door - you've just reminded me! Hmm, might have to get a guinea pig when the DCs are old enough.

Okayish day here, DS still a bit under the weather but he did come for a proper snuggle in for an hour this afternoon which was lovely. After that he was running around the living room chasing a balloon. And mostly not eating his tea.

Blackcat hope you manage to get a bit of a rest overnight.

Scout tea generally tends to go best with sweet type things I think. Oh and fish and chips but that's not that easy to rustle up. Umm other snack ideas - cheese and biscuits, bowl of cereal, piece of toast...

Just need to put the washing away and sort out clothes for me tomorrow - DH is in charge of getting DS dressed so his choice of clothes in the morning.

carrotsandcelery · 29/01/2012 21:55

bessie I did notice the recipe actually and tried to link it but the computer crashed. Thanks for the link re Miso soup. I will try one pack from Sainsbury first and see how I like them. I am Envy of the Wine I was too scared to have a drink last night in the end incase ds got up and I was too sleepy to put him back.

cairn we got dd her guinea pigs when she was a very sensible 6 yo. Ds would not have been great at that age though. They are brilliant pets.

Never did make a Brew but now have a bag of Wotsits and a cola. I've actually done the washing up before 10 p.m. Shock However, the burger pans are still soaking (but I will wash them properly before bed!).

Shock at MrCarrot's £2.19 for biscuits. I'm a store brand girl myself (having worked in store brands for six years there's very little I won't be private label) and can't imagine spending that much for a digestive (chocolate or not). Maybe a big tin/tub of biscuits but not an ordinary size package. On a slightly different note TS pointed at a biscuit today and shouted "cookie!" That's my boy. Grin

Those of you with guinea pigs -- what sort of cage do you keep them in? And how often do you have to clean their home to keep them from stinking?

Fingers crossed for all of the poorly little flyers and hope they're able to sleep well tonight. (ToddlerScout has joined the ranks of snotty children.)

bessie26 · 29/01/2012 22:06

When I was in primary school (10ish) I used to clean out the guinea pigs that the infant classes had. EVERY TIME I picked them up, they wee'd on me. damn things! Wink Mind you, I had a hamster that bit me one of the first times I picked it up & I was afraid of it from then on so perhaps I'm just not suited to rodent-based pets? I still had to clean it out - I just wore big thick gardening gloves to pick him up!

I like my cats. Grin

carrotsandcelery · 29/01/2012 22:07

Scout we keep ours in an indoor cage in the winter something like this that we clean out every week. It has at times slipped to 2 weeks but it has been very stinky by then Blush

They get hay, special guinea pig cereal and fresh veg (be careful what you give as some are poisonous) and water every day.

They have a large run and hutch for the garden in the summer.

carrotsandcelery · 29/01/2012 22:09

I used to have hamsters bessie. They are really cute but really noisy at night time and tricky for youngsters to handle.

I have once been bitten by a guinea pig who mistook my finger for a bit of kale. It wasn't sore though as it was a nibble not an aggressive bite.

OP posts:
carrotsandcelery · 29/01/2012 22:15

All this talk of food has made me hungry. I am off to bed to escape the munchies.

Ds has joined the ranks of the snotty too. It is clearly the season for it.

Good luck on the sleep front everyone.

Morning all, I have got a cold as suspected but I'm not going to let that stop me!
I will just take things a bit at a time and have plenty of drinks Brew and rests.

zoo are you raring to go this morning?
We can do "cleaning buddies" if you like. Grin
(encourage each other to get on with it Wink)

I'll Be back later.

bessie26 · 30/01/2012 07:17

Morning!

Babystep 30 - write everyone's birthdays on your calendar!

Only 1 more day to go! Are we going to go through the babysteps again next month? (I think we should, I've found it really useful), if so, who want to do the links every day?

BlackCatTryingToFly · 30/01/2012 09:34

Quiet here so far. I am having a Brew before I get started.

BlackCatTryingToFly · 30/01/2012 09:44

Right I'm off to make a start. I will pop back at around 10.30. Smile

Scout19075 · 30/01/2012 09:59

I'm around-ish. Toddler likes to scroll up & down when I'm on MN and it makes me a bit queasy so I've had to let him email MrScout at work.

I've made a start.

How is everyone this Monday morning?

liveinazoo · 30/01/2012 10:42

ha ha.great mind thinking alikeWink
anyone up for buddying?

carrotsandcelery · 30/01/2012 10:42

The missions page doesn't seem to be updated properly but we are in the Living Room and the Kitchen for missions etc this week.

I am not sure how to approach this. Our living room is rarely used and just really needs dusted and hoovered. Our kitchen is really a kitchen/dining/family room and quite a lot of space to keep on top of. I will see what the missions are when it sorts itself out but I am tempted to give the living room the once over and focus on our main living space. It is the worst area of the house, despite considerable efforts on my part.

BlackCatTryingToFly · 30/01/2012 10:43

I'm here zoo just having a rest but will try to do a little more before 11.20.
