thanks blackcat i needed thatSmile

i wouldnt say i was great artist but i enjoy it.in my last home next dor did horse paintings and sold them.she was brilliant!

Scout19075 · 09/02/2012 17:44

It's snowing again. TS hates it. I am doomed.

carrotsandcelery · 09/02/2012 18:49

He will come round Scout.

I am surrounded by professional artists here. It is the sort of area which attracts them for the insipiring scenery, the tourist trade and the oil folks with money to buy.

I am not in that league but it is really absorbing and relaxing. It is also a brilliant way to express your emotions in a life that expects you to contain yours while all around you express theirs fully Grin

BlackCat it sounds like it would be a brilliant idea to set aside some time for yourself to do some drawing and painting. I might just copy join you.

Ds has made his game. That part was brilliant fun. Half the recycling box is stuck to it as tunnels or walls etc. The first play was also fun but now he is changing the rules and adding random points all over the place and it is too much for me. I have persuaded him that sticker mosaic would be great fun. Grin

It is feeling like a long wait for dh to come home and I have seen 2 adults twice today as well Hmm

Btw I did make ds spaghetti bolognaise as well and feed the dogs during that time so I haven't been a total skiver. Wink

DH & I used to do a watercolours evening class, (another activity DH had to buy all the kit for!) I wasn't really any good, but I enjoyed it.

My list would be

  • bubble bath
  • reading a book
  • going for a run
  • having a sauna
  • having a massage
  • walking round the supermarket on my own (not doing a shop, just looking)

I spent some time in the dining room this arvo. It doesn't look any different, (still lots of boxes) but I've moved quite a few things around & the boxes are more organised!

DH is out tonight, so I'm going to clean the filters on the kitchen extractor fan, have a bath & then have a go with my Big Hair thingy. Oh, and decide if I like the new ankle boots which arrived today Grin and maybe eat some chocolate!

carrotsandcelery · 09/02/2012 19:56

Apart from the extractor fan business that sounds like a great way to spend an evening bessie Grin

BlackCatTryingToFly · 09/02/2012 20:32

Bessie what is a Big Hair thingy? [curious emoticon]

I spent a bit of time watching telly. Feel a bit too tired to do anything else so am just going to mess around on the computer now for a bit.

bessie26 · 09/02/2012 20:40

blackcat I only heard about the big hair thingy when I was nosing round the style & beauty boards last year, then the other day I read that they had brought a smaller one out that's better for short hair. It's a kind of hot air brush, which is supposed to make your hair look like it does when you come out of the hairdressers. We shall see.

Extractor fan filters scrubbed, sink shined, WM & DW primed to go on once I've run my bath. Now, where did I put those boots.... Grin

carrotsandcelery · 09/02/2012 20:40

Let me know if you find anything good BlackCat. Dh is on the exercise bike and watching Ben Fogle somewhere cold and snowy.

I am feeling exhausted and overwhelmed by the 3 dcs I had today and constant phone calls to arrange meeting up with folk, sleepovers, etc. It is all lovely stuff but it all came at once. I am trying to convince ds that it is fab for him too because he is going to play at granny and grandad's while the dog is at the groomer Hmm Having issues doesn't make you the first choice for a play date. Poor kid Sad

I have a big hair bessie. My hair is just beyond my shoulder so I have the big brush. I quite like it but don't use it everyday. I have to be careful or I could risk looking a bit Dynasty esque with it Grin

Scout19075 · 09/02/2012 20:50

I was wondering the same thing, bessie and blackcat.

Oh, don't worry carrots, I know. My brother hated snow until he was about 5 and did all of the things TS did on Sunday. It's just I hate having to carry him (he's soooo heavy!) across the snow & ice for long distances. Two of the states I've lived in that get heavy snows regularly have laws stating that public pavements and parking lots need to be cleared (snow free & ice free) within 24 hours of the snow fall stopping. I'm not used to sidewalks and car parks not being cleared (and the ones that are done around here have only been partially done and they should have just left them alone for the crap job they've done).

MrScout's still not home. I'm so tempted to eat his dinner. Blush

liveinazoo · 09/02/2012 20:52

bessie window shopping alone

ive done chuff all except make dinner
i declare lucy Burneys lentil burgers the most divine lentil burgers ive ever had the privelage to snaffle furiously in a less than ladylike mannerGrin

carrots your description of controlling emotions while all around show theirs was rather telling of motherhoodSmile

scout its been snowing here too.we now have an inch over the remnants of ice and black ice (delightful)

if school is closed tomorrow we may go to the grit box 15mins away and do our civic duty and grit our road

im sooooo hungry to.i think it must be the cold.after my 4 muffin snack i was amazed i still had room for burger and chips and i ate 1/2 a syrup sponge cake with lashings of custard...as that was an hour ago i am debating now whether to have liquorice or a yogurt before i snuggle under a blanket and watch tv

By the way scout at least TS does take ages to go to bed coz he keep running to look out the bloody window at snow endlessly falling!

i am now going to clear off and watch bit tv.tomorrow night i am aiming to find the strength to start me time in the evening (esp as dp isnt around so date night doesnt exist here!)

BlackCatTryingToFly · 09/02/2012 20:54

I was wondering about getting some hair straighteners but am a bit worried about them. If you forget to turn them off they are a fire hazard and I would have to keep them away from the DC.

liveinazoo · 09/02/2012 20:54

p.s my hair is thick and long and if i blow dry it i end up with bigger than big hairHmm

BlackCatTryingToFly · 09/02/2012 20:58

Zoo that sounds like mine but shoulder length! Grin

carrotsandcelery · 09/02/2012 21:04

BlackCat I have a heat resistant bag that I put the straighteners in once I have used them (when they are still hot). I did once leave them on by accident and the bag did the job. I still have the dcs thoroughly warned about the dangers of them though as my friend's dd has a nasty scar on her arm because of them.

BlackCatTryingToFly · 09/02/2012 21:12

Oooh that sound's good carrots (the bag I mean).

Sad about your friends dd.

I hope we have less ice around tomorrow morning! It was really bad here today and apparently there was a lot of accidents.

Scout19075 · 09/02/2012 21:14

I used to have really thick hair. It still is thick, according to most people, but I know how much thinner it got thanks to the stupid drugs. I wonder what round two will do to it.

I love the rare chance I get to window shop alone. It's fabulous. Internet window shopping is fun, though not the same.

BlackCatTryingToFly · 09/02/2012 21:25

Scout I don't want to say the wrong thing but I think I guess what your illness maybe. I understand if you don't want to say on here.
I am just guessing from what you say. {{{Hugs}}}

BlackCatTryingToFly · 09/02/2012 21:26

If you want to PM me please feel free.

BlackCatTryingToFly · 09/02/2012 21:28

If I have the wrong end of the stick please forgive me. I'm always putting my foot in it.

BlackCatTryingToFly · 09/02/2012 21:32

Just to change the subject, I have had my iron tablet. (probably puts foot in it again) Carrots are you going caffeine free?

*Scout, I am not great at social stuff so apologies.

BlackCatTryingToFly · 09/02/2012 21:32

From me.

carrotsandcelery · 09/02/2012 21:34

Scout I have thinning hair due to my underactive thyroid. It is fine and blonde as well and it really shows. You are not alone. If yours was thick to begin with then you will still have a great head of hair.

Friends, and friends of friends, who have had thinning hair or hair loss due to medical treatment have all taken different approaches. Some have gone for wigs and I have to say the wigs were amazing and they looked great. Others have gone for scarves and bandanas and rocked the look. One was really brave and just gloried on - her best friend had her head completely shaved for charity to support her friend through it all. They all have full heads of hair again now. I think the hospital provides a lot of support if necessary.

BlackCat I will look for a link to the bag I have got as it is excellent.
