I need to stock up on orange juice.

Right best get started!

BlackCatTryingToFly · 09/02/2012 14:04

I have:
washed up x 1
returned some books to the bookcase
mopped up some spilled yoghurt
booked blood test.

Now time for a Brew before round 2 of the tidy up!

carrotsandcelery · 09/02/2012 14:09

zoo I used to be a herbal tea drinker and have only started on "normal" tea in a bid to beat my Pepsi Max habit. I have cracked that and now need to ditch the tea. I am actually intolerant of it and it makes my eyes sore and my skin itchy and gives me headaches. We are our own worst enemies sometimes Blush

I am moving back to herbal gradually but drink a lot of decaff as well which doesn't upset me.

My sil is really fussy about her teabags and will only drink one brand. We discovered if we just put our usual brand in the box from her "special" tea bags she didn't notice the difference either Grin Grin

She has switched to ones that are a funny shape now so I doubt we will get away with it next time but it was funny while it lasted [evil]

BlackCat it is half term here. Today is the first day. Dd has a friend to play and she is one of my favourites out of her circle of friends. She is really tolerant of ds and would make a great nursery teacher when she is older.

They forgot the vegetable oil when they made the muffins (oat and choc chip) and they are surprisingly ok despite it. I wouldn't serve them at a coffee morning but the dcs are quite happy really. It makes me wonder if I could reduce the oil in my muffin recipes without any real loss.

BlackCat everyday you take your iron with a glass of fresh orange I will go caffeine free. Deal?

OP posts:
BlackCatTryingToFly · 09/02/2012 14:16

Yes Carrots. I need to decide what time of day works best for me to have the iron. I think maybe near bedtime as I like coffee and tea in the daytime. I don't think I could cut them out completely but maybe swap some of them for something else. Wine

BlackCatTryingToFly · 09/02/2012 14:19

Ooops, That was meant to be a Wink but I was talking to DH about how much/little Wine we drink. Blush

carrotsandcelery · 09/02/2012 14:40

Ha ha! Maybe Wine is the answer Grin

I have loaded the dw again and cleaned the worktops again. I feel like I am going round and round in circles today. Hmm

Dd and friend are making perfume now. I have had to open the back door. The kitchen honks. Bleurgh!

OP posts:
carrotsandcelery · 09/02/2012 14:48

10 years old is clearly not too old to be highly amused by scented slime making rude noises. 39 isn't either Grin

OP posts:
BlackCatTryingToFly · 09/02/2012 14:48

I think I remember trying to make perfume as a child Grin. we used to collect rose petals and mix them with water, not sure now if it worked!Hmm

I must go and sort some washing to go in machine and do a bit more work in the kitchen.

The doctor said though that it is important to "do something for yourself" so I will have to try to remember that for later on today.Wink

carrotsandcelery · 09/02/2012 14:51

BlackCat I used to do that. Rose petals mixed with water and left to fester brew in the sun. My poor, poor dmum would be presented with it later.

Nowadays they get fancy chemistry sets from Santa (Toys r Us) and stink out your kitchen in the middle of February.

They are having a great laugh though Grin

OP posts:
carrotsandcelery · 09/02/2012 14:55

BlackCat I totally believe in the "doing something for yourself" philosophy. Otherwise you just get scunnered and resent everything and feel like everyone's slave.

A friend's mum told me that she used to read for an hour before school pick up, no matter how messy her house was. I was Shock at the time but I totally understand it now.

What have you got in mind for "me" time *BlackCat"?

Maybe we could all post ideas

eg manicure
hot bubbly bath
read a book
walk
exercise video
visit to the gym
visit to the pool

OP posts:
Scout19075 · 09/02/2012 15:02

Me time would include:
indulging in my FB game playing (Blush but it is fun to try and beat my little sister)
craft sessions just me (cross-stitch, card making, scrapbooking)
reading
a toddler-free shower (but I've posted that before)
baking

Scout19075 · 09/02/2012 15:04

I have done nothing today. Nothing. Between yesterday just physically draining me and the argument discussion with MrScout leaving me feeling disheartened, I just don't have the pick-up-and-go I had. Hopefully I'll find it tomorrow.

carrotsandcelery · 09/02/2012 15:14

Scout do take a breather but don't feel disheartened. At the end of the day you can see the difference what you have done has made to you and TS. I can see you need to work round dh but you can still keep going.

Have a day off, guilt free, and enjoy it then jump back on the wagon with us.

I have just remembered I need to make dd a packed tea by 4pm Shock

Too late for falafel now and she doesn't want it anyway.

Soup it will be! Grin

OP posts:
BlackCatTryingToFly · 09/02/2012 15:33

Scout I took yesterday off apart from that absolute essentials but today I am just trying to do little bits here and there and it is helping.
My DH is home today although he is keeping himself entertained so far watching DVD's etc. He is doing the school run this afternoon. Wink

My thing for myself could be:
watch telly
play a game on computer
do some drawing, painting?
Colouring in with the DC?

We are having a chicken and veg pie with veg for tea.

Scout19075 · 09/02/2012 15:41

Yesterday we were mostly out from 9 a.m. until 8 p.m. We had the odd 45-60 minutes in between activities/places to be. I did very little yesterday, too, but felt more productive than today.

Tonight's dinner is sloppy joes. Not sure if TS will eat it so have a back-up of pasta twirls for him.

liveinazoo · 09/02/2012 16:14

BlackCatTryingToFly · 09/02/2012 17:13

-------> Pointy stick for Zoo

I've noticed Chocolate ready Brek in the shops (might not be the same) but haven't tried it yet. I might get some.

I used to be into drawing/painting before I had the DC but just don't find much time for it anymore so maybe I need to try and fit it in somewhere. I wouldn't say I was very good but someone I know is so good she sells hers.Grin

Zoo Grin at parentally challenged!

I must go as I am doing dinner at the same time.
