They don't have my bag on amazon anymore BlackCat. It was by GHD and had a draw string top. I will look on google.

Hey, BlackCat, no worries! (I'm multi-tasking -- MNing, chatting online with Mom in the US and internet-window shopping.) Without getting too deep into it, I have a (curible) blood disorder. It's pretty yucky and has the potential to do a lot of damage (which could then ultimately lead down some ugly roads). It is not the "C" word, which is what most people jump to. In some people it just takes longer to get rid of than others. I seem to be unlucky. I am blessed that I have a very supportive family and a wonderful network of friends (only a small group actually know the full story) on both sides of the Atlantic. (And of course my wonderful ToddlerScout who provides lots of cuddles and smiles every day.)

BlackCatTryingToFly · 09/02/2012 21:42

Thanks Carrots.

My auntie wore a bandana I think (I wasn't able to see her much) when her hair went thin. Some people look good in them and I think she had some wigs too.

Scout19075 · 09/02/2012 21:45

My hair isn't that thin. It's fairly thick still, but I notice it. Mostly when I put my hair in a proper ponytail -- the hair band goes around one or two more times than it used to. Most people who knew before I started have no idea I lost hair (lost weight, yes; hair, no).

BlackCatTryingToFly · 09/02/2012 21:45

Glad you have support from people. Smile Toddlers are great for smiles and cuddles!

carrotsandcelery · 09/02/2012 21:47

Ahh Scout that explains why it was noticed when TS made an appearance and why it meddled with his appearance. I hope you beat it fast. (((hugs)))

You may not need to go for the bandana then - I was off in the wrong direction. They can look great though.

We will cheer you on through your treatment with our exciting tales of heroic floor mopping and loo cleaning Grin

Toddlers get a bad rap, what with all the tantruming and boundary pushing, but really they're great little people, especially when you're down.

carrotsandcelery · 09/02/2012 21:48

Sometimes the internet feels really distant. I genuinely mean those hugs. Grin

carrotsandcelery · 09/02/2012 21:51

They stay that way Scout. Even at 10 they can do just the right thing at the right moment and you can still see a shadow of that toddler in there.

I wonder if my dparents still see a bit of me as a toddler in me? (Dmum blames me for her grey hair as it started the year I was born) Hmm

Yes, I started having other problems during pregnancy, as a result of funny blood, and that's when it was discovered. I thank God regularly for Toddler, even when I was at my lowest. I have a cocktail of pills and injections and they all have side effects and I seemed to get a significant amount of them. Two of them were short fuse and personality change I got to the point of not caring and really struggled to talk to people for about 2-3 months in the middle. I spent a lot of time on-line so I wasn't alone even when I wanted to be alone. So even if I'm not as productive as I'd like to be (when you're not hungry you don't eat so you don't have the energry; as well, it made me an insomniac as well as causes tiredness I was a mess) I'll still be around.

I just wish I knew when I was re-starting -- it won't be before May but I wish I had a date.

BlackCatTryingToFly · 09/02/2012 21:54

My DD is turning into a lovely little girl now.Smile We had it tough through the terrible two's but she is getting past all the daily tantrums although she still has them but not at every little thing. She is really quite interesting and funny.
They are lovely little people!

Scout19075 · 09/02/2012 21:56

Thanks carrots.

I'm doing a lot of cross-posting tonight.

I know my Mom sees me as a baby/toddler. My dad (Mom's second husband who adopted me so is Dad) didn't meet me until I was about 5-ish and I know he sees me as that little girl he met.

Scout19075 · 09/02/2012 21:59

I'm very lucky, BlackCat, that Toddler is very much like his dad -- laid back, easy going, happy chappy (the only thing MrScout gets uptight about is his "stuff"). He doesn't have a lot of tantrums, especially compared to some of his peers that we know, but when he has them oh boy he has them. They've eased a lot since his vocabularly has exploded (and since he has more room to play with his toys easy to see/get at/put away).

BlackCatTryingToFly · 09/02/2012 22:06

That's good Scout. How old is he again? My DD is 3.2.

bessie26 · 09/02/2012 22:08

hehe Toddlers are brilliant. I remember sitting at the kitchen table last summer sobbing into my cereal because I was soooooo tired after being up endlessly with DD2, and DD1 brought me a tissue, gave me a hug & told me "is alright mummy" - that was so sweet it just made me cry even more!! Grin

Brown boots are staying, black boots are going back.

My GHDs came with a heat resistant mat, and if you leave them alone for 30 minutes, they switch themselves off.

I used to have a round heat brush thingy that I quite liked until one drunken romantic weekend away I got my hair all tangled up in it (it used to be longer) and DH had to untangle me!

DD2 is making noises in the room next door, so I am afraid to try them out atm... perhaps I should use the opportunity to sneak downstairs for some chocolate?

Scout19075 · 09/02/2012 22:11

TS is 2.3. He doesn't have full vocabularly yet, and short sentences are coming, but he has most of the vocab for what he wants/needs and what he doesn't he can make gestures or keeps repeating himself to get understood. He mimicks a lot, too, so I know words are sinking in.

I also know I'm lucky and that just because he's easy-ish now he might not always be that way (though my MiL says MrScout was also easy-ish so I cross my fingers).

carrotsandcelery · 09/02/2012 22:16

Dd is 10 and her vocabulary is expanding too. Grin

I keep asking her if she knows what a word means. She doesn't and is Blush when she finds out. Apparently everyone is using it at school. We then have the discussion about words which offend people and how there are much better ways of expressing yourself etc.

I am Shock that these words are allowed in schools.

OP posts:
Scout19075 · 09/02/2012 22:17

Oh dear, carrots, what sort of words?

bessie26 · 09/02/2012 22:18

wow - I have never x-posted with so many people at once (slow typing)

BlackCatTryingToFly · 09/02/2012 22:22

Ooo Lovely chocolate!

carrotsandcelery · 09/02/2012 22:26

I am embarrassed to post them Scout as they would never enter my vocabulary.

Last night's gems were "reard" and "miget". Not swear words I know but not words I want my dd using as part of her normal, everyday vocabulary Shock

She had no idea what either word meant other than the second one being a word for small. I had to explain that the first was just out and out offensive and that the second shouldn't be used to describe a person. She was Blush Blush but also confused why the dcs at school didn't get checked for it. (as was I)

OP posts:
carrotsandcelery · 09/02/2012 22:27

And why am I not getting any of this chocolate? Can I have a little bit pleeeeaaaaasssse?

Scout19075 · 09/02/2012 22:42

I usually always have chocolate -- feel free to help yourself!
