zoo glad you liked the ginger soup - it is my bestest, favouritest soup in the whole world & thankfully the DDs both love it too (DD1's record is 4 bowls!)

to carrots McD's - I guess they don't still do the (VegSoc approved) Quorn burger? I'm not looking forward to having to take the DDs there when they are older. The last time I looked into it (which was a looooooong time ago) they couldn't guarantee that even their chips were veggie as "at certain times of the year" they added "extra ingredients" (they couldn't tell me what) to their chips. I remember asking the staff in there once if the cheese on their cheese & tomato pizza was veggie & they just looked at me as though I was stoooooopid & told me that cheese didn't contain meat

rant over!

Tonight I have wiped my kitchen worktops

I have to take DD1 to pre-school tomorrow. Which means I have to take DD2 with me too. DH says the car park is a nightmare, very very icy & that he had to carry DD1 as she was afraid to walk on it - how the hell am I going to do that while pushing DD2 in the stroller? (can't take more sturdy Quinny as I will struggle to get it through doorways) - arrgh!

carrotsandcelery · 08/02/2012 22:26

bessie it was vile. Why does he think it is so brilliant? A friend told me that the milk shakes had fish oils in them. Yuk, yuk, yukkity, yuk, yuk!

I had a chick pea burger of some sort. I don't want to know what was really in it. Bleurgh!

The things we do for our dcs sometimes.

Treating dd's head lice remains the worst though Grin

For the car park you need mini crampons of some sort or to leave the dcs in the car (mumsnet does not approve) and to salt a path from your car to the door yourself before you take them out. Either that or you need some of the mums from zoo's school to rant at their janitor Grin

It is shocking what I am hearing about areas not gritted around schools. They must know there will be small children, babies in arms etc in those areas.

OP posts:
bessie26 · 08/02/2012 22:54

I guess it's because it's not actually a school? (it's a nursery which has a pre-school bit) - I will put the spade in the car & if it is bad, I will just chip away a path for us to take!

Our road is well used by school children & neither the road or paths have been treated - a friend has told me his evening I need to speak to my local councillor to get some grit if it's not on the main council route - will have to find out who they are!! Blush

liveinazoo · 09/02/2012 05:49

where we live there are grit boxes scattered around at the end of roads(3 over a 5mile area that i know off) apparently you can got and get it and use to grit public paths/roads that dont class as main/bus routes but why should we have to

poor carrots i am grateful that only dd1 and2 have ever eaten Mcd's(d1 dad likes them,dd2 went to a party there)
dd2 declared afterwards "the food was ok(ish) but i wasnt happy there was no pudding.pizza hut is SOOOO much nicer"

i am up early cos its still bloody freezing here.am not intending to do much til there are signs of life from the kids except look at meals for £5 and under thread and steal good ideas

bessie i would start a blog if i had the tecnological capacity but i have no idea how

liveinazoo · 09/02/2012 05:51

just realized it was carrots that said do a blogBlush

oh and before i forget(and if i dont get back til later)
blackcat hope doctors appointment goes ok.x

bessie26 · 09/02/2012 07:22

zoo setting up a blog is pretty easy, just go to www.blogger.com and have a go!
Once it's set up you just write recipes (posts) and save them. I find it really useful to be able to categorise them (using "labels") - for example here are all my pasta recipes!

I haven't seen any boxes of grit around my way Sad We've had no new snow & it doesn't look that cold outside this morning, so if people had made the effort to clear a bit it would have stayed clear! (like my drive!)

bessie26 · 09/02/2012 10:29

FYI here's a form to fill in to request gritting!
local.direct.gov.uk/LDGRedirect/index.jsp?LGSL=561&LGIL=0&ServiceName=Request%20road%20gritting

carrotsandcelery · 09/02/2012 11:19

I am getting really cross. I keep writing big long posts and mumsnet keeps eating them. Grrr!

I have been up and on the go for ages. Why is it easier to do on a holiday day than it is on a school day?

I have made the masterbedroom bed and tidied that room, made the spare bed and tidied that room, hoovered the hallway and bathroom, cleaned the bathroom, mopped the bathroom floor, loaded the dw and cleaned the kitchen worktops and hoovered and mopped the kitchen area of our big room. I have also answered the phone literally about 10 times, had coffee with a friend who popped round with her dd to play with my dd and decluttered some of the kitchen table. Phew! I feel quite heroic zoo Grin

OP posts:
carrotsandcelery · 09/02/2012 11:23

Dd has decluttered some areas of the utility room. It is really bad so it is just a dent but has motivated me to do more in there. We need a rearrange now we have another dog's stuff to accommodate.

bessie26 · 09/02/2012 12:13

I have taken DD1 to pre-school, wrapped a parcel & taken it to the PO & made Zoo's very yummy lentil & carrot burgers Unfortunately DD2 LOVES them, which means I'm not going to get many

Scout19075 · 09/02/2012 12:20

Toddler and I are having a PJ & TV day. Blush Grin

BlackCatTryingToFly · 09/02/2012 12:24

Hi all, Is there a 1.00 club today? I need to get stuck in!

I have been to doctors, She thinks I may still be anaemic so I have to carry on with iron tablets and book a blood test. I have also been referred for counselling .

carrotsandcelery · 09/02/2012 12:26

I have hoovered the hallway again and mopped one part of the kitchen floor again. Ds was trying to make an ice lolly and got juice all over the floor.

The lentil burgers sounds yummy. I have to make dd another packed tea. I am trying to think what might be nice in it. I don't have the ingredients for the lentil burgers but think I do for the falafel so I might make some of them (again!)

I am going to go through the thread and transfer all the recipes to my blog as I am struggling to keep track of them all. (great excuse to sit down for a while too Grin)

OP posts:
BlackCatTryingToFly · 09/02/2012 12:26

I haven't read up thread yet so apologies if I have missed anything! Smile

OP posts:
liveinazoo · 09/02/2012 12:40

p.s bessie got another lentil burger recipe trying tonight.a lucy burney one(child nutritionist who has some great cookbooks)i pilfered it from her webpage and thought of you as it had ginger in itGrin
(she puts up 3 recipes a day, acquired it a few days ago)

if its good i will pop it on(never had a disappointing recipe from her but theres always a first time!)

bessie26 · 09/02/2012 12:40

Glad you got to see the Dr BlackCat, and that they are listening to you - any idea how long the referal will take?

I didn't realise you were taking the iron pills already, I've probably said this before, but Vit C aids iron absorbition & caffiene can stop your body absorbing it.

I'm going to try to clear up the lunch stuff while DD2 is still up to give me more of her nap time to do something - not sure what, but as I will have 7 children (and 4 mums) coming round next monday I think I'd better make a start on tidying the dining room - we're not all going to fit in the living room!

liveinazoo · 09/02/2012 12:42

just realised id missed blackcat asking anyone 1oclocking!!!

carrotsandcelery · 09/02/2012 12:47

I missed your post too BlackCat. Sorry.

I am glad the doctor is taking you seriously and offering support. Counselling sounds a really positive offer.

Maybe all our Brew is not helping with the iron tablets. We will all have to move to camomile or peppermint tea in support. (or hot chocolate Grin)

I am not sure about a 1 o'clock club today. I have 3 dcs in the house. 2 are demolishing all my good work in the kitchen and 1 is rolling around in a pile of soft toys on the floor looking for some company so I think it will be time to play Grin

OP posts:
BlackCatTryingToFly · 09/02/2012 12:51

I will join 1.00 club today as my kitchen is a --shit tip-- mess.

Bessie I was on them back in September but got lazy about taking them so it's probably my own fault! Anyway I will start again today on doctors advice!Wink. I have to phone someone next week about appointments for the counselling.

BlackCatTryingToFly · 09/02/2012 12:53
