I am struggling. The tv is out of bounds when ds gets up through the night and so is the lap top. I would really like to just cuddle up with them and watch tv as I feel horrid and they are both shouty so probably feel the same. Instead we are decluttering, which is good but painful. I can't wait for dh to come home. The dog is hiding and I want to as well Sad

come on carrots you can do this and you can feel very proud of yourself for making a start

Scout19075 · 30/01/2012 16:51

zoo, I will probably be around around 7-ish since TS will probably go down early. Shall we do a 1/2 hour together?

C'mon carrots, you can do it!

When I was on the treatment before, TS (who was still BabyScout when it started) and I got in a habit of cuddles in bed in the morning with cartoons and breakfast (dried cheerios and a bottle or cup of milk then). Since I'm better I've managed to, more or less, avoid tv with him during the day but we do watch together in the evening with cuddles before going up for changing/teeth/face/stories/bed. I guess it's the start/quiet time of the bedtime routine. Unfortunately he's on a Peppa Pig at the moment ("Daddy Gig" is his favorite) so I youtube Peppa in the evenings and pick out ones that have lots of Daddy Pig in them.

liveinazoo · 30/01/2012 16:58

dd3 loves peppa...its on milkshake(channel 5) just befroe the school run and she loves it.someone told me theres stuff on their webpage but i havent got that far yet!
we have a dad at the nursery who is "round" and wears glasses and has "wiggly"
kids whisper theres daddy pig when they see himGrin
i will def do that budddying later and open the invite to anyone who tired and need bit extra push before "our time"Grin

carrotsandcelery · 30/01/2012 17:16

Thank you everyone. We have done it and are now sitting down with 2 choc digestives each which were bribes.

Peppa Pig wasn't around when dd was tiny but ds loved him and dd enjoyed it with him when he was small. We had some Peppa Pig toys and everything. If ds is a bit poorly he will still watch it. I love Daddy pig but he is a bit persecuted poor guy Grin

We have drastically reduced screen time again but it is still handy towards the end of the day when patience is flagging. It is not allowed after 6pm though, no matter how good he has been as the bedtime routine negotiated with the psychologist doesn't allow any screen time of any sort.

I have the fairy lights on and everything in the kitchen looking quite civilised. There is just a pile of dishes from the baking to run through the dishwasher with tonight's meal dishes. We actually have the whole table to eat at again, rather than being squashed down one end. Yay!

Hi, have been busy with the DDs & popped into work to discuss my return

carrots is audio allowed?

I'm going for a run when the DDs are in bed & need to finish meal plan & start shopping list, so may have to keep off MN to avoid distraction!!

liveinazoo · 30/01/2012 17:54

well done carrotsi knew you could do it Grin
promising smells coming from the pasta bake.will report back if its nice as it was ridiculously simpleSmile
will pop back 7ish when kids in bed
bessie hope you get what needs doing done and come back to us laterWink

Scout19075 · 30/01/2012 18:10

TS in bed. Shock

I've got some rice on to have my dinner (never sure when MrScout's getting home so have decided to just eat since the food is ready and I'm hungry). Then I'll be ready for one last decluttering push for the evening.

carrotsandcelery · 30/01/2012 18:58

I have put ds in the bath after a painting session that went a bit wrong. Do you remember the disaster of the wooden dinosaur many, many weeks ago? We decided to paint it tonight. Big mistake Ds managed to get paint on his hand and then all over his hand and then had a panic attack. Joy!

He is now in the bath, calm and having fun, so we have rescued the situation.

What a shame as he had done a jigsaw with me and was really proud of himself.

bessie audio is allowed. If I have to listen to Paddington, or the chuffing Owl who was afraid of the dark again I won't be responsible for my actions Grin He loves it but still has to do something while he listens. It does help calm him a bit though.

The veggie shepherds pie was really very tasty. Ds even ate it up and I had to have seconds just to be sure Grin

I still have the dishes to do but then I think that will be it for today.

Well done everyone else who is still working away.

bessie double eeek on the return to work idea! Noooooooooo!

MrScout has confirmed an approx 7:30 return. So just going to put the donations in the car and tidy up the kitchen a bit and make him some rice for dinner. I'll hold off on doing the washing up now that I know he'll be home on-time-ish.

carrotsandcelery · 30/01/2012 19:11

Dh didn't like the shepherd's pie. I just can't win. He didn't comment until I asked him though. Grin

Just catching up again while I give DD2 her bedtime feed.

carrots perhaps you could get some new audio?! There are children's podcasts available on iTunes, but no idea what would be appropriate for his age!

My friend went running early this evening as she said it would be too cold so I get to listen to my iPod while I run tonight, and it won't be playing kids tunes!!

I won't actually be back in the office until May, but they wanted to know what I wanted to do so they could start planning for it!

Scout19075 · 30/01/2012 19:27

Think I'm going to skip the living room declutter (round 2) tonight and just focus on ticking off things from my to do list. So tonight I need to:

grocery shop
put groceries away
pack swim bag
wash up
send emails
upload pictures
take papers out of plastic pockets & recycle (papers)
combine all of the empty plastic pockets into one binder
wash stove top (have to wait for it to cool first since I'm cooking a pot of rice)

liveinazoo · 30/01/2012 19:35

hope someone has a big sharp pointy stick to hand..kids are now in bed and the washing ups soaking(pasta bake dish etc).i really should go wash up and wipe down kitchen but im flagging very badly-i get up at 5 so i usually collapse in a heap and watch tv for a bit til i fall akip and then wake and go to bed
i need to break this habit and consistantly tidy up the kitchen of an evening and put everything away(sometimes get as far as wash up but leave to drain and sits there til next day!

Scout19075 · 30/01/2012 19:40
liveinazoo · 30/01/2012 19:45

p.s pasta bake recipe-high iron
750g cooked pasta(i liked shells but anythig will do)
325ml (approx)passatta
500g spinach leaves(i used defrosted chopped spinach as the kids dont like big bits)
500g (approx)chopped veg[courgette,green beans,fennel,peppers etc]
handful chopped herbs
180g grated cheese
60g mature grated cheese

layer 1/2 the pasta in a dish.mix in 1/2 the veg(as its raw dont leave bits too big).mix passatta and herbs and pour 1/2 over and sprinkle with half grated cheese.repeat.top with mature cheese and bake 20-30 mins until browned nd bubbling

carrotsandcelery · 30/01/2012 19:51

I am off to bed in a minute and for the first time in ages there are clear worktops (thanks to a bit of help from DH although I have just finished off).

Will be up for a bit of buddy work tomorrow but I might also sign in on the "new"
Flyers thread. Hope you don't mind if I am on both.
I will have to see how it works out. It might be a bit difficult to be on the two threads, only time will tell!

Night all.

Scout19075 · 30/01/2012 21:44

Just back from the grocery store and groceries put away. How is it that when I checked there were no frozen peas in the freezer but when I was putting away the groceries I've found TWO bags. ARGH!

carrotsandcelery · 30/01/2012 21:45

Scout that happens to me too. I think they hide, hoping you will bring friends to the party. (No I haven't been drinking but maybe I should!)
