Come one come all, fledgling reunite. 1st of the month and we survived the fright. Bonfire month and lets burn though the housework to prepare for the festivities of December.

As from the 1st we will be babystepping, mission and deep cleaning our way out of the C.H.A.O.S. (can't have anyone over syndrome).

For newbies and those who need reminding here is the principles behind the babystep system.

The basic is this:

  1. Do the babysteps.
  2. When you do the babysteps with consistency add in the missions
  3. When you are doing the babysteps and missions as a habbit tackle the deep cleaning.

This thread is a mishmash of people at different stages. The lists can look long, but look carefully, some of us are reposting lists and parts of lists from day to day.

Our motto is this: Do not strive to be perfect, Progress is progress and anything is better then nothing and my personal favourite part of the fly lady system is you are never behind, just jump in and start from where you are.

So on that note here we go. With much thanks to Ellie who lead us with amusing roundups last month.

Day 1: Babystep 1 - How to shine your sink

Mission here - this will update overnight ready for the early fledglings

Tuesday's reminders are here: It's planning day

And for those of you who are eagerly awaiting christmas here is the flylady's crusing into christmas page. Personally i did some of this last year and done some this year and it does take a chunk of the stress out of christmas.

Well now that I have suitably scared you, see you all tomo!!

Whoops there are two links for the Babystep 1. The first is the actually babystep, the second is how the fat fairy thinks it should be done.

Also quick note to newbies thinking about jumping on board - ignore the fluffiness, take a few of the babysteps with a pinch of salt they are sometimes impractical and don't sigh up to her emails or wander into the big tent. We don't have enough time to rescue you and you will be lost......

Just marking my place :-) xx

laurenamium · 31/10/2011 17:06

Like the title darkness Grin

PositiveAttitude · 31/10/2011 17:14

Ok, so I was going to name change and pretend I was a newbie, but I thought I would probably out myself before the 3rd of the month, so here I am signing on the doted line for yet another month.

Really need to get back on track. I am sure life would seem less hectic if I was more organised around the house, so that is my aim for November.

Waves to all the "oldies" and hello to anyone who has not had the pleasure of my company "seen" me before! Grin

Fuzzled · 31/10/2011 17:18

Right signing back in after a month of CHAOS Blush

DS has dropped his pm nap so bang went my cleaning time.

New routines all round - and definitely shiny sinks! Grin

madwomanintheattic · 31/10/2011 19:42

marking.

madwomanintheattic · 31/10/2011 19:53

omg. i just read the holiday control journal from cover to cover, and then found the note in the back that said 'i know you have just read the control journal from cover to cover. this will not help. you have to spend 15 minutes a day actually doing the stuff.'

sometimes i really hate that fairy. Blush

i really am going to the basement, now.

DarknessSoothes · 31/10/2011 20:06

Rofl. The fat one is definetly realistic. As for losing the plot. I am in charge of the thread this month. What could possibly go wrong HmmGrin plot what plot? Wink

Welcome November!

Hi lauren- how's flying and CMing working for you?

PA you do make me laff - faking being a newbie won't work and I have the pleasure of being an 'oldie' and welcome you back instead

Fuzzled Always gutted when the nap gets dropped. For me its just one big life cycle as i always have a mindee changing routine, sometimes weekly we have someone doing something new so i just do very little and not very often.

madwoman I wish Flying were as easy as reading the journal- my house would be amazing- its the 'doing' bit that i always trip up on.

Be back tomorrow with my list- night all!

laurenamium · 31/10/2011 20:49

Hiya nicknacks it's going really well actually, DD and youngest mindee still have at least a one hour nap so I'm getting flying done in these gaps and the kitchen gets done while they are strapped in and eating Grin

My house is a lot more sparkly now Smile

Just need to get the hang of meal planning And forward thinking Blush

LadyPinkingShearsHands · 31/10/2011 21:00

Marking my place for this next month of FLYing.

WhoKnowsWhereTheTimeGoes · 31/10/2011 21:11

Another old timer clocking in. Things have gone seriously downhill around the house over half term, so I need a kick start again.

Thanks to Ellie for leading us through September and Darkness for volunteering for November.

BlueEyeshadow · 31/10/2011 21:12

Marking spot too. Great title, Darkness! Thanks for leading, and to ellie for last month. :)

PositiveAttitude · 31/10/2011 21:13

MadWoman - now you need a holiday to recover from the exhaustion of reading your holiday journal! Grin

Nicknacks - Glad to put a smile on your face! Grin Becoming a newbie seemed like a good idea for a minute or two. I just dont think i could be someone else and too many people know me on here, so I know it would then be embarrassing when anyone realised it was me. Also, what name would I choose. I am not like Darkness who seems to have an endless supply of imaginative names. I exhausted my imagination the day I first signed to MN! Grin

We have had a stupidly manic few weeks, hence my disappearance from October thread. Blush Tomorrow I am doing a course and I am having to catch up on my work after I have been to the course, so trying to cram 2 days into 24 hours! Hmm

ahhyesiseeyouvepooedonyourfoot · 31/10/2011 21:22

Hello! I am a newbie a confused out of her depth newbie so am marking my place as such...also begging and pleading that experienced old timers hop over to my thread here and share your wisdom with me...

DarknessSoothes · 31/10/2011 21:37

Welcome do you have a prefered short version of your name or will Ahhyes do?

Answered on your thread. But if you want to stick with us we can talk you through the fly system which builds up day by day through the babysteps. Fly lady herself says it takes time to build habbits so don't be too tough on yourself. and some of us have had more success then others but we have all made progress

OP posts:
WhoKnowsWhereTheTimeGoes · 31/10/2011 21:42

For AhYes and any other newcomers.

Flylady has several parts to it. The first part is babysteps, one forf ech day of the month, the same every month. The idea is to make sure these become so much part of your daily routine that you hardly notice you are doing them.

The next parts are decluttering, zone cleaning and missions. The house is divided into 5 zones, corresponding to weeks of the month, again the zones come round each month. Every day we with declutter that weeks zone for 15 mins, or do missions (short, specific cleaning jobs) or detailed cleaning. you don't need to start missions or detailed cleaning till you have decluttered. There is lots of info on Flylady.net, as well as explanations of all the terminology. The whole thing repeats every month so you can just jump in any time. Someone posts the daily links to the Babystep and missions on this thread every day, and there is plenty of chat and encouragement.

By breaking it down into such small chunks it all seems more manageable, the idea is that you don't get overwhelmed and just walk away from it all.

elliepac · 31/10/2011 21:51

Old timer marking place determined to be good this month.

Bless you pa. Nice idea but some of us could spot you a mile offGrin. Don't do a darkness on us Wink.

House is quite spectacularly shitty. I am quite spectacularly knackered.Grin.

coostoonettle · 31/10/2011 22:27

Found youse. Grin thx Ellie for last month and thank you Queen of darkness for leading us. Grin

madwomanintheattic · 31/10/2011 22:30

am i the only one that's not got a clue who darkness is then? Grin i can never keep up with these things. your secret would have been safe with me, PA. Grin

ahyes, the most important thing for you to do right now is to unsubscribe to any flylady e-mails you may inadvertently have been suckered into. and then just read the links on this thread. Grin and Do Your Best i am Not Very Good at flying (have been on and off the thread for um, a year or so? ish?) but this month am starting to see the light (and some Things In Boxes that haven't been unpacked for way too long). i am a fan of the decluttering aspect. (or i need to be. sometimes i am a fan, and sometimes it's a pita lol).

WhoKnowsWhereTheTimeGoes · 31/10/2011 22:37

Think you probably are Madwoman. Someone who has been here a long time in a variety of guises.

droitwichmummy · 31/10/2011 22:42

Marking my place as well. Hopefully rl will stay out of the way in November but somehow I doubt it....

madwomanintheattic · 31/10/2011 22:43

feck, the thread hasn't even started yet and i've failed miserably. Grin

feetheart · 31/10/2011 22:47

Marking my spot.
Yet again I start the month with good intentions. Some of this Flying lark is now second nature but I really need to get to grips with decluttering - been here nearly 2 years and still live amongst Far Too Much Stuff.

Thanks to ellie for excellent October leadership and to Darkness for volunteering for November.
