Come one come all, fledgling reunite. 1st of the month and we survived the fright. Bonfire month and lets burn though the housework to prepare for the festivities of December.

As from the 1st we will be babystepping, mission and deep cleaning our way out of the C.H.A.O.S. (can't have anyone over syndrome).

For newbies and those who need reminding here is the principles behind the babystep system.

The basic is this:

  1. Do the babysteps.
  2. When you do the babysteps with consistency add in the missions
  3. When you are doing the babysteps and missions as a habbit tackle the deep cleaning.

This thread is a mishmash of people at different stages. The lists can look long, but look carefully, some of us are reposting lists and parts of lists from day to day.

Our motto is this: Do not strive to be perfect, Progress is progress and anything is better then nothing and my personal favourite part of the fly lady system is you are never behind, just jump in and start from where you are.

So on that note here we go. With much thanks to Ellie who lead us with amusing roundups last month.

Day 1: Babystep 1 - How to shine your sink

Mission here - this will update overnight ready for the early fledglings

Tuesday's reminders are here: It's planning day

And for those of you who are eagerly awaiting christmas here is the flylady's crusing into christmas page. Personally i did some of this last year and done some this year and it does take a chunk of the stress out of christmas.

Well now that I have suitably scared you, see you all tomo!!

Started out so well- ended badly!

Today was going great until this afternoon I get a call from school- DS2 has been sick! So back home I kept him seperate from mindees and called parents- none of them answered and collected their children so poor DS had to stay in his room until 6pm.

So list list started out well but trailed off....

Empty dw done
Tuesday's wash on done
Invoices
Declutter hall
Mop kitchen floor done
Mission doesn't apply woo hoo
Give out invoices
S and s done
Couple of room rescues done

So DS will be off school tomorrow but he'll keep DD company while i get so upstairs jobs done so will put a couple of those jobs on tomorrow's list. Not working tomorrow and Ds will be happy in front of the tv while DD bumbles aorund for a bit, 'helping' me Hmm

Wednesday's list.

Empty DW
Wednesday's wash
Clear landing
Empty DD's toybox
Sort DD's drawers
Make room for DD's new toybox
Fill new toybox
Hoover DD's room
Clean bathroom
Take bins out

Loving the suggestion that the naughty corner bar will be open 24 hrs (go on, you know you wanna). I def could have done with it this afternoon!!

I'm also sticking to the FLYlady rule of bedtime at a decent hour and so I'll be heading up at 10pm. I have a feeling I could be in for a disturbed night if ds is sick again, althought vomit is DH dept- I don't do sick. is literally what I do when faced with cleaning it up.

Have a good evening all- see you in the morning!

molepom · 01/11/2011 20:37

Oh yeah, and shout at energy company.

DarknessSoothes · 01/11/2011 21:55

Right here is the round up:

DWMummy stuck her head in and wished for rl to stay out of her flying. As we all wish it would mummy.

PA considered a new persona but settled on bringing forward the naughty corner bar opening hours. Tbh if you want it open you declare it so. As the person who had the scariest to do list today I feel it is totally justified.

Toffee The christmas flying thing is the one thing that I can manage to do well. Blush. I have been doing this for a month already when it was first posted and I am well ahead of christmas planning, with one exception - the deep clean thingy that is traditional in this house.

Fuzzled has been trying to fly with a poorly baby. Hope the little one feels better soon. tackle the essential, and hope you have a better night's sleep tonight.

Lauren has been flying like a pro, dishing out tips and advice, whilst managing the childminding. Well done that girl.

Madwoman - lost her confusion and was overwhelmed by the thought of the bar being open at 8am local time. How did DD do with regards her appointment self survival? did you survive it?

Nicknacks' flying was curtailed by a poorly ds2 which also cause a slight logistical nightmare and the enforcement of old fashioned quaranteen

LadyP marked her place with the intention of flying this month and has started by tackling a mould issue. Hope the magic potion arrives quickly so you can escape the makeshift lounge bed.

Whoknows Dished out wise advice to newbies, has been dealing with paperwork and has been tackling the important things like wills and tax. Think you might need several of these Wine after all that.

Blue appears to be hiding, i am sure i saw her on the thread earlier, but scrolling back I can find her. Yoo Hoo are you out there?

Ellie - Miss miss miss, you know that cross teacher thingy. Don't work on me since the pgce GrinSmileGrinSmileGrinSmileGrinSmileGrinSmileGrinSmileGrinSmileGrinSmileGrinSmile

Nettie is our gold star fledgling for all her fundraising last month, surviving the hoodlums last night and still managing to get flying down. And Yes I saw you online at stupid o'clock this morning. You sleep less then me Shock

Feetheart is starting the month with good intentions and has identified that whilst basic flying she has tamed, the clutter still requires taming. Good luck with that.

MC was sent into a spin by a phone call and had help from DH with a few high speed room rescues.

SC is caught up in the delights of half term. Enjoy that won't you

Swan - has been battling internet problems but has managed to fly in her absence. Yay for the computer fix, yes is it weird watching a computer being remotly controlled.

4 newbies to the thread: Ahhyes - who has thown herself into the system, Onemore who came looking for motivation, although not sure that she found it but did manage to scare poor PA and Thegrass who has posh plastic boxes for the purpose of moving clutter into. Out of sight might be out of mind but doesn't make for tidy in the long run. Trust me you will run out of space for hiding things and then you will see alllllll the mess Welcome to the last newbie of the day Molepom

Linkies, linkies here are the linkies but beware the fat fairy has been playing with her website. I am now traumatised and lost as my bookmarks have gone poof.

Babystep 2: this is the contriversial lace up shoes one I take it to mean get up straight away and don't linger about it. As for shoes in the house. At lot of us prefer slippers or ignore it completely.

mission is in here as a sneak peak and is all ready in time for the early birds which will not be me tomorrow no sireee Grin. However, I couldn't find it as a mission.

Wednesday is antiprocrastination day and here are your reminders

Oh - You ARE motivational I feel well and truly told off! Anyway, glad to report I managed to stay awake and have decluttered whole toy basket and made up a bag for the charity shop. Also put up one of those modular shelf-things and stacked some of the children's books in it. So living room is now resembling a living space!
This was also partly achieved by moving the desk with pile of paper plus unpacked box on top of it out of the living room and in to the hall-way - But I will get to it really!!!

I promise from here on in to only buy plastic crates in order to store duvets and summer/winter clothes according to season.

I promise to buy a little filing boxy thing and go through my papers asap!

Is there some other sorts of oaths we should take in order to join in?

swanriver · 01/11/2011 22:30

alsodones
made leek pie
cooked chops
unloaded veggie box
washed uniform
supervised homework
got very cross with twins for interrupting ds1 homework, but ended eve with cuddles and stories
despatched two kids to football
forced x 2 music practice

drank Wine my tolerance is increasing - I seem to need a glass a night now Hmm
went to PTA meeting then decided against and came home almost immediately Blush couldn't face discussions about Santa's workshop. Just ask every parent for a £1 and you'll end up with the same balance sheet....Hmm[sad Scrooge like emoticon]

PA your bunny is light relief Smile
MC forgot to ask how was Westlife concert?
Soothes yes I remember lots of projects getting tackled - well done
Nicknacks Angry I bet they would have picked up if their children were ill. Glad tomorrow you are off. Wafts sweet herbs in your direction.

no Xmas missions here, quite frankly I can see the remains of last year's the Baking Mission ingredients still at the back of my larder. I have made my first Christmas Catchup with Old Friends phone call though! One less lengthy message to write..

droitwichmummy · 01/11/2011 22:54

Anyone still up? You all sound like you are having an early night - can't be having that on day 1 (unless you were up all last night with poorly DC)

Another vote for having a 24 hour naughty corner bar. There's a song Terry Wogan (yes I know I'm old!) sometimes plays called which will suit us fine.

I'm taking things easy, not helped by feeling distinctly off-colour on my way home from work but I do have a short ta-da list:
find DS PE kit
out to work on time via breakfast club
leave work on time
pick up DS from after school club
make tea - sausages here as well with mash and baked beans Grin
2 loads in DW
shine sink
empty and refill WM x 2
Repeat tomorrow!

WhoKnowsWhereTheTimeGoes · 01/11/2011 22:58

Still up here, having spent the evening pondering guardians, executors, trustees, think I will head for the naughty corner shortly (Madwoman - I was thinking more of Linzer and her early rising habits with regard to timezones, but if you want to open the bar at 8am, why not?).

Brilliant roundup thank you Darkness.

BlueEyeshadow · 01/11/2011 23:00

Tuesday is madly busy and no flying so haven't been on here till now.

I'm hoping dh is less grumpy today about his moustache growing. I don't think that's actually his problemc ita more that a business venture has fallen through again and he is fed up about it.

Well dh has finally gotten dc up for breakfast so I'm going to see if I can close my eyes for half an hour.

Hope you all have a fab day. Grin

PositiveAttitude · 02/11/2011 07:13

Good morning ladies, Grin

Swan, I disagree about the bunnies being light relief, it a pain in the bum both ways!! For me its a pain to catch him and cut the offending lump off. For him I believe it would be a light relief if he didnt have to bounce around with poo ball attached. Although it doesnt seem to bother him! Hmm
Can I suggest that you are saving time for this year's Christmas missions if you still have last year's bits. Just saves you doing them!! I wonder if anyone would notice a tree and decorations all year, then I would be the most organised one in the street when they are up on the 1st December!!! On the other hand they drive me bonkers when they are up for more than a week, so maybe not!

Fuzzled and Nicknacks I hope the poorly DCs have had a good nights sleep and are feeling better this morning (a good night for you, too I hope)

An oath for Justone - Thou shalt not lose thy sense of humour and put housework before life!! Wink

Right a less manic day today, looks a bit like this:

Load tumbler - done
Load Washing machine - done
Shake DS up out of bed early and shove him out the door for early extra maths (GCSE next week) - done
Wake DD4 - hearing movement, so looking hopeful
Unload DW
Shine sink
Wipe kitchen surfaces
Sandwiches
Job Number 1
On to Job number 2
Tea tonight - Thai chicken with noodles - At least once a week I am doing a version of a Cambodian dish to get the family used to it. Fried spiders is not on the menu and I am also not going as far as cooking dog, but Thai chicken and noodles is as close as I am getting for today! Smile (we will leave dog and spiders for next year)
Catch bunnikins!!! Cut offending lump off.
SOrt some washing/ironing
Woooooo an evening in!! So maybe a Wine if I am not collecting DD1 from work later.

Off I go now and I hope you all have a good day.

MAssive waves to everyone - I wont mention everyone because I know that I would leave someone out, then you would feel rejected, so if you are reading this take this as a personal to you!! Yes, I mean you!! Grin

laurenamium · 02/11/2011 08:47

PA there's someone in my street with Christmas decorations and lights up already Hmm all the lights got switched on yesterday!

Thanks for the mammoth roundup darkness, you've got me curious though, what is this training ds does?Grin

nicknacks I am Angry that your parents didn't answer!!what happens if you were ringing because they had had an emergency?!

I'm on MN off my phone so can't see everyone else's posts when I write mine and i have a terrible memory!

To do today:
DD at health visitor for the elusive development checks she was supposed to have months ago
Research hoovers
Call the tax office and be assertive
One wash out one wash in done
Washing up, drying, shine sink
Today's mission...but in entrance hall as no dining room
Kitchen hot spot
Hoover (later)
Conservatory (later) - this is the 3rd day it's been on my list Blush

laurenamium · 02/11/2011 08:51

Oo it's Wednesday!!food shop and fridge clean are top on my list!

swanriver · 02/11/2011 09:34

done
constructive talk with PTA mum about Santas workshop, apparently centralised buying is the way to go!
Nettie very good cause, know several people with possible or diagnosed P or T cancer. Dh has a full beard and a moustache, and looks like Michael Fassbender (I didn't realise this till I looked at clip of Jane Eyre on youtube - Deliver Me)

off to ASD review now, just 20 mins I think, without ds2.

done
recycling and good riddance 2 weeks worth as mum rang when I was in the middle of last week's and missed it!

DarknessSoothes · 02/11/2011 09:34

Onemore don't feel told off. Motivation is sometimes hard to discover even with the support of the lovely ladies on the thread. I do like PA's wise words. Sense of humour over tidiness

Slept well but still have this bastard headache. Going to stay curled up in bed with sewing projects (see yesterday's list) until they are finished and then see about getting motivation to tackle the bathroom. Might be some of this rest thing I am ordered to discover Hmm

Happy flying to you all!

BlueEyeshadow · 02/11/2011 10:44

Good morning all!

Ta da!
Beds stripped
Sheets washed and on line
Morning routine
Music and CM drop off
DS1's bonfire picture dropped off for school comp.

To do:
Tidy bedrooms
Filing/shredding
Dust & mirrors
Ironing
Sweep floors
Major declutter of dining room
Dining room mission
Remember DS1 has to take a toy to school tomorrow
Remake beds
Pick more beans and rasps - thought they were all finished, but no!
Work, blog, emails
Clean bins

Phew. But first I'm off to put the kettle on. Brew anyone?

justonemorethread · 02/11/2011 10:46

Ooh Coostoonettle, MICROFIBRE cloths! I get a little rush of pleasure when I buy one! Might treat mysef to a new one today. A proper Robert Dyas one, not a pound shop one.
I don't know how to insert smileys, or I would!!!
Don't worry darkness I was only being light hearted about being told off (that's were emoticons come in handy I suppose!)

Right, toddler drugged up and asleep, so - bedroom, here I come! (If I can get off mumsnet)

laurenamium · 02/11/2011 10:54

Just bought sink reflections off amazon Grin

ahhyesiseeyouvepooedonyourfoot · 02/11/2011 10:59

ooh coostonette my DH is doing Movember too (though I have to sort out the fundraising he just does the fun moustache bit Hmm ) I want him to do a flicky houdini one but he's holding out for an 80s pornstar (well who isn't).

Today I have:
Got up and (drum roll) made the bed straight away!
Brushed the matted worse for wear fox clinging to my scalp (hair)
Put on actual clothes not stayed in PJs
Shined sink
And obviously all necessary stuff for DD (8 weeks on friday, woke herself and me up farting this morning)

Today I aim to:
Clean bathroom..with laptop outside door so I can refer back to MN!
Hoover bedrooms
15 min de clutter bedrooms
Put away laundry
