Come one come all, fledgling reunite. 1st of the month and we survived the fright. Bonfire month and lets burn though the housework to prepare for the festivities of December.

As from the 1st we will be babystepping, mission and deep cleaning our way out of the C.H.A.O.S. (can't have anyone over syndrome).

For newbies and those who need reminding here is the principles behind the babystep system.

The basic is this:

  1. Do the babysteps.
  2. When you do the babysteps with consistency add in the missions
  3. When you are doing the babysteps and missions as a habbit tackle the deep cleaning.

This thread is a mishmash of people at different stages. The lists can look long, but look carefully, some of us are reposting lists and parts of lists from day to day.

Our motto is this: Do not strive to be perfect, Progress is progress and anything is better then nothing and my personal favourite part of the fly lady system is you are never behind, just jump in and start from where you are.

So on that note here we go. With much thanks to Ellie who lead us with amusing roundups last month.

Day 1: Babystep 1 - How to shine your sink

Mission here - this will update overnight ready for the early fledglings

Tuesday's reminders are here: It's planning day

And for those of you who are eagerly awaiting christmas here is the flylady's crusing into christmas page. Personally i did some of this last year and done some this year and it does take a chunk of the stress out of christmas.

Well now that I have suitably scared you, see you all tomo!!

Right, hiding in the loo before showering as DH is now holding the baby - literally as DS did not have a good night and I ended up sleeping with him (he's got a horrible cold and a cough that sounds like he's been smoking for years! Sad )

Anyway, to do:
• Dust and hoover house/crisis clean as people coming this pm for a few days
• Lay away (hopefully dry!) washing
• WAHM job
• Into town to get prescription

Should manage to get a few of these done - but it's only my Dad & stepmum so not too bad, but would prefer to look slightly in control IYSWIM!

May get DH to pick up prescription so sav taking DS out in the mank that is todays weather...

Anyway, running late for shower so on I go!

I am having to appeal a DLA decision for DD3 and that has taken literally hours and hours over the past week or so.

Ellie its good you'd know me anywhere - I think!! Grin
Waves to Nettie, Mad, Feetheart, darkness, makingchanges, DWM and Whoknows (just realised I never answered your PM ages ago, sorry!! Blush )

And welcome to ayisypoyf and a special wave to SC, who I assume is still around these parts! Grin

PositiveAttitude · 01/11/2011 06:48

x-posted with fuzzled and Netti - Good morning! Smile

elliepac · 01/11/2011 06:50

Morning! Thank God all i have to do is shine my sink today although you can't see it at the moment due to all the crap in itBlush. This is due to a combination of rowing with DH on Sunday which meant I didn't clean up on principle and being at a Halloween party last night which meant we didn't get in until half eight by which time I just wanted my bed.

I shall start as I mean to go on though and catch up tonight. Need to leave failure until at least the second babystep WinkGrin.

nettie Sad about those little bastards last night. Hope you managed to get some sleep.

Welcome to ahyesSmile. Please, please desubscribe from those emails. Trust us when we say they will overwhelm you. I have been on this thread for 2 yeara and never once had an email. We are all you need GrinWink.

Thanks for all the thanks for October but i was pretty rubbish really. I look forward to darkness being in charge, it's always a little like flying by the seat of your pants when she's leading. And at least she won't trash her own thread with emoticons. I am plotting revenge as we speak WinkGrin.

Better go and get a showet. Have a nice day everyone Smile.

elliepac · 01/11/2011 06:52

Xposts with pa. Good luck with the poo cutting .

justonemorethread · 01/11/2011 07:00

Mh, how does this work? Currently supervising toddler and making binoculars out of toilet rolls while trying to drink coffee, no time to read through.
But I need some motivation, just had shipment delivered from previously big house in tiny apartment, clutter and mess everywhere... If I sign up here will I keep seeing daily tips?

feetheart · 01/11/2011 07:08

Morning everyone.

Got up to do some work but have been browsing MN instead Blush

Nettie - hope toe-rags didn't upset the whole night? HUGE 'Well Done' on Frocktober challenge, that's a great amount for a great cause.

PA - nice to see you back, I see life hasn't calmed down at all much.

List for today:

  • All up and out
  • WORK - invoices today
  • Email to friend re work that needs doing in her house that I manage (the usual saga replaying yet again!)
  • Coordinate plumber and tenants in my flat for later in the week
  • 15 mins in Living room - having Neals Yard Organics party here Thursday and at the moment I wouldn't let anyone in the door Blush
  • Reading Buddies at school though I have very little voice

Best get a move on.

PositiveAttitude · 01/11/2011 07:35

Justonemorethread if you just scroll up to this post: WhoKnowsWhereTheTimeGoes Mon 31-Oct-11 21:42:57 I think htat explains it all.

Welcome. Smile We are a mad friendly bunch and all muddle along get our houses in order as we chat go along.

All you have to do today is clean your sink!! It really is that easy. Then tomorrow another step is added, so you clean your sink and another small job. It does work if you stick to it!!

Hi all

Welcome ahyes onemorethread and grassisjewelled I'm also a newbie as of last month and I've found it really easy to get into the swing of things, but I didnt really have clutter having only been in my very own first house for 7 months Grin

So last night I was in bed AND asleep by 9:45!! How's that for an early night!

To do today:

Toffeefudgecake · 01/11/2011 09:44

Just marking my place. No time to post properly today as we are off to London and I have to get the house tidy in the next hour because the childminder is bringing the boys back here after school

Toffeefudgecake · 01/11/2011 09:46

PS: Thanks for leading the thread, Darkness and also for the Christmas Flylady link. I was actually looking forward to that this year , as it really helped me get Christmas sorted last year.

slightlycrinkled · 01/11/2011 11:11

Helloooooo fellow fledglings - sc here - just parking my bop and mucket

A warm welcome to Ahyes Onemorethread and thegrassishjewelled

lovely to see oldies and newbies alike!

Love the title Darkness and thanks again for last month Ellie

Sorry you had to call the police out yesterday Nettie. Hope all calm again this morning. Enjoy being back in trousers!

Special hellos to PA and Mummy

  • lovely to have you both back
You too Fuzzled hope you are feeling much recovered

Madwoman arf at "actually having to do the stuff" (always the bit I find difficult Wink)

I'm in the same position as Feetheart. Flying has much improved general routines/efficiency/general state of tidiness but, after 2 years, I still need to dig deep on decluttering front.

Having said that, got to go now - half-term/dd calls ...away end of week but hope to be back in full throttle by beginning of next

Flaps wings at everyone!!!

ahhyesiseeyouvepooedonyourfoot · 01/11/2011 11:40

Right I have a shiny sink and a tidy kitchen and laundry is drying. Good start I think ... a little bit scared of decluttering and cleaning the lounge - I'm not sure I even know how to properly properly clean - I always end up seeing pushing dust around and just making stuff into piles.

ahhyesiseeyouvepooedonyourfoot · 01/11/2011 11:40

*seeming to just push dust around and putting stuff in piles
SEE, SEE how much cleaning upsets me!

swanriver · 01/11/2011 11:50

hi folks.
my computer travails continue. For some reason, my computer has decided Mumsnet is verboten, although it logs onto everything else, including Netmums.Confused Spent a hour this morning trying to sort that out, but no luck. Now in Internet Cafe!

Half term was hard work, although I managed everything I had set my heart on. Ds1 had friends over, and that was a success. Dd got invited out a few times, and we had a halloween party last night which went well..Also helped out Mum, lent her my hoover...and promptly lost the car key. Still can't find it Sad I'm sure it is in a pocket somewhere but where????

House was a utter pit though by Sunday due to dh being in Rome for four days and exhaustion setting in. Cleaning lady came yesterday, and I went to work for a bit. It took her three hours to clean and tidy the kitchen. Which made all the difference to Halloween Party of course [hgrin] and that went very well!

A combination of ds2 being ASD manic and dd trying to plan her party arrangements covering the entire kitchen with carving knives and pumpkin flesh was NOT good.

Tense Difficult Meeting at school this morning. I sent Dh along because I thought he would be better at dealing with the Head of Year, and DH did brilliantly, not even blinking when they threatened Ds1 with Exclusion for a certain incident.

Hope things will improve, we just have to keep on with the TLC for ds1 as DH said, because that is going to be the only way to boost his self esteem. Which is at the root of all these problems.

Toffee when you lived in Colchester I wonder if you ever met my erstwhile Boss who lived in Dedham and was called something ending in S-Smith. Also a bookseller in London. My grandparents lived in East Sussex, near Et...we still go to the house although they are dead now.

DarknessSoothes · 01/11/2011 11:58

Quick pop by with a list up date and a roll call. So far I make it that we have 3 lovely newbies to the thread: ahhyes, Onemore and thegrass. Don't be put off by the long lists. Especially mine. it won't last WinkGrin

And there are are 15 regulars (yes you survived a month Lauren welcome to regular land Smile )

Always good to see you DWMummy. And I hope swan is ok where ever RL has disappeared her to.

right list update.
Laundry 3rd load on
air ds' kit unpacked and spread around lounge
Sort out kit for early training
get up and out before 5:25
eat a proper breakfast before training
Early training
Meeting in another town
sort out ds' kit for training
ds to training
ds shower, fed and in bed before 9pm
early night

The observant of you might have noticed that I didn't have shine my sink on my list. erm Do as I say not as I do Blush. Doing quite well with the list but as ususal have to add the following:

Shine my sink
Room rescue my room 15mins done has made a slight dent in the choas
Doc appointment
Urgent urgent project
Project due monday

After all the funeral/death chaos last month I final made the mistake of actually looking at what my eyes were seeing in the bathroom. I have to admit to quickly closing them again so will be adding a deep clean to the bathroom today.

For those of you who have not have the delight of my misleadership I am the instigator of the naughter corner bar. Feel free to join me propping it up. Will be open from 5pm onwards but you will have to help yourselves as I am not back until 9pm. Happy flying.

And just for ellie:

laurenamium · 01/11/2011 13:22

Well my house is in chaos over the course of the week I'm going to sort my office desk and empty toys from conservatory into garage so I have a room back Blush

Grin at being a regular!! Thanks darkness

Can anyone recommend a Hoover?mine is on the brink of totally dying and in this house with numerous mindees, a DD, a dog and a rabbit it would be a total disaster! I Hoover at least once a day!

LadyInPink · 01/11/2011 13:26

Am on the case re our mould problem and have pulled out fitted wardrobes and drawers with DH and wiped and hoovered all behind, am just waiting for the miracle potion to arrive so we can get this house back to normal. Sleeping in the lounge on a makeshift bed is not what we want to do but looks like we will be doing for the rest of the week til it's sorted as we have stripped wallpaper so we can paint later after potion has dried and our bedroom is diemantled. DD thinks the lounge bed is loads of fun - may trade places with her tonight Grin

Have taken down all the halloween decorations now and have just finished the last of the sweets that were left from last night. Hardly had any knockers, in fact we only got some because DD stood by the front door with a bowl of sweets shouting 'Hi' to the kids as they walked past - got a feeling we may get some knockers next year now Grin

swanriver · 01/11/2011 13:26

hi Soothes and Lauren and other newbies and regulars.

Computer fixed! Yay, they updated the dastardly dongle by remote control (have you ever watched an alien hand manipulating your screen - spooky stuff!)

So I suppose I can clear up now Hmm
though I don't have a hoover as I officially given it to Mum (who has a hoover graveyard in her house)

Tostartwith
put clothes away unironed

will come back when I've done that...
