Come one come all, fledgling reunite. 1st of the month and we survived the fright. Bonfire month and lets burn though the housework to prepare for the festivities of December.

As from the 1st we will be babystepping, mission and deep cleaning our way out of the C.H.A.O.S. (can't have anyone over syndrome).

For newbies and those who need reminding here is the principles behind the babystep system.

The basic is this:

  1. Do the babysteps.
  2. When you do the babysteps with consistency add in the missions
  3. When you are doing the babysteps and missions as a habbit tackle the deep cleaning.

This thread is a mishmash of people at different stages. The lists can look long, but look carefully, some of us are reposting lists and parts of lists from day to day.

Our motto is this: Do not strive to be perfect, Progress is progress and anything is better then nothing and my personal favourite part of the fly lady system is you are never behind, just jump in and start from where you are.

So on that note here we go. With much thanks to Ellie who lead us with amusing roundups last month.

Day 1: Babystep 1 - How to shine your sink

Mission here - this will update overnight ready for the early fledglings

Tuesday's reminders are here: It's planning day

And for those of you who are eagerly awaiting christmas here is the flylady's crusing into christmas page. Personally i did some of this last year and done some this year and it does take a chunk of the stress out of christmas.

Well now that I have suitably scared you, see you all tomo!!

NickNacks · 02/11/2011 21:38

Jeez you lot talk for England (Scotland, America, Austria, Germany wherever else you lot are hiding)

Thanks for everyones good wishes for DS2. He seems better already although not sure whether to send him to school tomorrow as it won't have been 48 hrs since last sickness but it was his high temp making him sick as opposed to a tummy bug or similar.

Lauren You're right about contacting the parents in an emergency- I think my mistake was texting them on the way home from school to let them know what was happening and depending on how he was when we got in, that I may need them to collect. Unfortunately that gave them the heads up on what I was calling for and they just ignored their phones (never had a problem getting through before as they all have desk jobs where mobiles are easy to answer). In a real emergency I'd not hesitate to contact the Emergency Contacts if I had no luck with the parents.

swan I genuinely read about your son's ASD meeting like this -> Shock I can't believe they spoke to you like that. Having not met your on. DH or visited your home, I can confirm they were in fact, talking out of their arses rubbish. Wine for you.

Darkness Thank you very much for the comprehensive round up- must have taken you ages!!

I'm really impressed with my house at the moment. It's not immaculate but nor would i want it to be, but its much less cluttered and easy to maintain and I guess thats the point of FLYlady. I like these times as they inspire me to carry on although usually i get too cocky, post massive lists that i can't achieve and then fall flat on my face and give up.

So with that in mind, tomorrow's ACHIEVABLE list!

Morning routine - DW, WM, etc
Toddler group, lunch, naps
Invoices- write and give out
Excess shoes and coats away
Move pushchairs and shoe rack
Clean Mirrors
Clean Bathroom
Sort outfits for school disco

Goodnight! Off to bed shortly for NickNacks 10pm bedtime. Smile

elliepac · 02/11/2011 21:49

Ah feck. Day 2 and I am failing again.
Have managed to find sink which is a vast achievement but that's about it.

Am posting on phone in bed as am pooped so no personals save for swan. As others have said, am Sad and Angry in your behalf.

Toodle pip Smile

molepom · 02/11/2011 21:52

Swan - I cant believe they have spoken to you like that. Ok, I can but I can also understand how you feel. It's bloody hard work having SN children and to be told that you are not doing a good enough job or patronised just makes the whole thing worse.

Thank you everyone for your welcomes. Once I get into the swing of things I'll be able to do individual statements.

droitwichmummy · 02/11/2011 22:28

Quick fly past from me before I make an effort to get to bed early for once. Sink is looking pretty good, WM is on and DW will go on in the morning once the breakfast things are in there. Just tomorrows' lunches to make (can never do this without thinking of PA and her humongus piles of sandwiches Grin)

Couple of bottles in the corner with some fairy cakes - enjoy!

BlueEyeshadow · 02/11/2011 22:54

Just got re-making the bed to go and then the whole list is ticked off. Yay! Oh, and got to carry on remembering about taking a toy to school in the morning...

Tomorrow's list
More work
Window cleaner coming - yay! May have to clean the inside of the windows afterwards though...
hoover & mop
tidy desk
get PE kit ready
return tub to CM
Aldi shop and put away
Laundry and putting away
CHarity shop drop
Mission

Ahhyes - top tip for shiny mirrors, which I picked up elsewhere on the interwebs, is to polish them up with a towel. Microfibre cloths work well, too.

Night.

slightlycrinkled · 02/11/2011 23:07

[swigs wine and falls on to cushion] cheers Mummy Darknesss Ellie and all fellow naughty-corner dwellers

[directs stern looks towards Lauren's db]

Loving all the Jane Eyre talk and how exciting/romantic Ahyes!!

Holiday plans going awry. Dh still busy in the office (par for course tbh). DD developed earache/headache and was rather lethargic this afternoon (for her anyway - she was still talking/singing/dancing nine to the dozen but only doing 4 different things at once as opposed to usual 12 Grin) so let everything go to pot this evening and we all watched a film under the duvet on the sofa while eating bowls of carbonnade and mash [slattern emoticon]. Downstairs gone to pot but I'm calling it a day.

Double arf at Darkness's Christmas mission Grin Grin

Glad your ds feeling a bit better Nicknacks and your dd too Madwoman

Swan thank you for plot ideas - told dd and she listened carefully (esp glowing bit) and said she may incorporate in next chapter!!

Flaps wings goodnight at everyone ....

LinzerTorte · 02/11/2011 23:20

Just checking in now that we're back from London - thanks for the new thread Darkness and for last month ellie. Can't believe that you've already flown through 6 pages. Shock

We had a fab time in London; the DC loved it and complained surprisingly little about the amount of walking we did. Did lots of stocking up so were very glad we'd decided to pay for an extra suitcase on the way back, and also managed to find time for a bus tour, a river cruise and four museums. Another highlight was meeting two lovely MNers for coffee. Smile

Must get to bed now as it's after midnight here, as tempted as I am to stay up and tidy/unpack - have another MNer coming over tomorrow who has never been to our house before, so I'd quite like to have it looking presentable.

Night all. Smile

Toffeefudgecake · 03/11/2011 01:26

Welcome back, Linzer. Glad you had a good trip. You weren't at the Science Museum on Monday, were you? DH took DS2 there for the day.

Am up at this silly time because I fell asleep with DS2 earlier. Took him to the dentist earlier because he was complaining of toothache. Turned out he has an infection under his filling and needs antibiotics. The dentist said the infection might flare up again, but he prefers to treat it with antibiotics rather than taking the tooth out.

Now have to do my before-bed routines and some ironing, then try to get back to sleep. I'm quite peckish, but there's a nasty spider crouched by the back door and I'm not sure I want to see it again. And if it's not there anymore, that's even worse.

Long day tomorrow as DH and I are helping on an all-day school trip. Must remember to pack a flask of tea and some Paracetamol!

coostoonettle · 03/11/2011 05:23

Have a lovely day everyone. Smile

LinzerTorte · 03/11/2011 06:32

Morning all,

Was able to have a bit of a lie-in this morning (or get up after DH, at least) as just the kindergarten run to do this morning. House not looking too bad this morning - just three (unpacked) suitcases in the middle of the living room; and the rest can probably be dealt with in a couple of 5 minute room rescues.

nettle Hope you got back to sleep after you posted. No hobnobs purchased this time Shock as have a box full of them in the cellar Blush but I did spend far too much money at Boots.

Toffee Yes, we were at the Science Museum on Monday afternoon! If your DH happened to hear any families speaking English and German, it could have been us (unlikely though, I know). Grin

DarknessSoothes · 03/11/2011 06:55

Good to have you back Linzer. Right, i shall be back with the roundup after the school run.

Quick list from me before I jump in the shower having completely ignored babystep 2 as tbh 4am is far to early to be following that piece of doctrin.

To do:
Fold washing done except the dreaded socks
Turn ironing right way for ready for ironing
Air ds' kit
Wash ds' kit that needs washing
Deal with ds who decided 4am was a good time to start the day
Urgent urgent project massively progressed this already this morning and looking likes will be done and in post by lunch time/afternoon school run
Project that was supposed to be finished by monday
put ds' clothes away
tame ds' room
tame lounge
Nap this afternoon
shine sink
bathroom
utility room.
Early night - I predict there will be tears before bedtime with such an uncharacteristically early start to the day. So much for an early night to stop ds being so tired

Right be back after 9am with the round up.

PositiveAttitude · 03/11/2011 07:46

Good morning ladies,

Grin Grin Grin at the Christmas link Darkness!!

Loads of chat on here this month Shock

Toffee I hope you have a good school trip today. Where are you going? Poor DS2 - toothache is miserable. Hope the antibiotics kick it into touch soon.

Terrible about the meeting Swan. Keep your chin up and enjoy your Miele! Wink Still totally in love with mine, but we did have a little spat when I realised it has hidden filters that need replacing a bit too often and cost a fortune to get!

DWM - I feel a fraud now because I generally now only do 4 lots of sandwiches each morning now.

SC - Sad about the GPs nether regions! I managed to grab hold of the poo ball yesterday, but after a bit of a wrangle with bunny flipping his legs wildly at me he got away and DH did not get back from work until it was dark, so the situation is still the same. Its not too bad, as it is just where he has a fluffy bum and he sits in a wet patch in his run, then poos and it all builds up as each time he poos it adds to the ball, (Iyswim) Smile Hmm Shock Normally when this happens it dries up and falls off itself but if we have a prolonged wet period it doesnt tend to dry enough.

Last evening I was asleep on the sofa by 8.30, so have come down this morning to a messy kitchen, which I hate!

Its Thursday, so its day off work day for me! Grin YAY!!
So today should pan out a bit like this (fingers crossed and deep breaths and all that!):

SORT OUT KITCHEN!! URGENTLY!!!

  • Dishwasher unload and load,
  • Clean down all surfaces
  • clean floor
Take DD3 to college and collect 2 hours later Load washing machine Sort piles of clothes and remove from back lounge Hoover back lounge Ooooooh try and fit in some baking!! My bestest friend is visiting from Jersey, so spend an afternoon with her! Tea Out this evening.....again!

Loads to try and fit in today if I can, but realistically I think thats about it!!

Waves to everyone and have a good day.

elliepac · 03/11/2011 07:54

Oh dear. Tears and shouty mum does not make a good start to the day Sad.

justonemorethread · 03/11/2011 08:01

I always have to be so quick on the computer I just can't get round all your names, so just waves all round!
Right, let's see what I can achieve after another sleep deprived night -

MUST DO
Sort out pe kit
Sort out gp related admin
put one load of washing on
put clean clothes away
Wash my hair!

WOULD BE NICE
Make a dent in the paperwork
Take de-cluttered stuff to charity shop

laurenamium · 03/11/2011 08:07

Morning everyone Grin

Glad you had a lovely time linzer I've never been to London!

Sad for such an early morning darkness

To do today:
Conservatory
Put suitcase things on eBay
Sort living room hotspot
Finish kitchen hotspot
Playgroup this afternoon
Pick up mindee from nursery
What's for dinner? Cottage pie
Clean oven
Mission
A wash load

Be back later xx

laurenamium · 03/11/2011 08:35

Xpost with Ellie and one more,

Sad ellie hope things are better

swanriver · 03/11/2011 09:22

Linzer glad you had such a great time! Next time you visit L I will try and be a bit more proactive (even if it just means bumping into stamp collectors)

We have decided to spend Xmas in London on your recommendation!

Last night Dh and I had late night horrid row, because I've managed to tidy away his Kindle (from which he was trying to download the 3rd part of his brother's novel [Berlin Gothic plug plug plug] and now we can't find it. It doesn't help that Kindles are very slim and elegant and grey. I think it was when ds had two friends round last week and I thought I'd better remove it from tinkering fingers - But Where? Sad In a bookcase??????No hope of finding it then...Sad

So that is ....the car keys, the passport, the Kindle which I have now tidied/lost.Sad

Today Ds1 is spending the day being punished for the incident last week (which was with 4 year 10's - he peed on someone's shoe in a altercation), which means he has to spend whole day doing work in Head of Year's study by himself Sad Well at least he wasn't excluded, which they claimed was on the cards..So lots of tlc after school required. Fingers crossed strict school behaviour policy will help ds rather than hinder. Must be good for school as whole anyway, so I suppose I can't quibble over my individual doubts on ds's behalf. Anyway dh and I decided we better back up school in this case.

swanriver · 03/11/2011 09:25

Toffee hope you are enjoying school trip. Nice to have Dh with you too.

Now, I need to get ready to go to work in library.

feetheart · 03/11/2011 09:29

Got quite a lot of Flying related stuff done yesterday - shock horror :)
Am having a Neal's Yard Organics party here tonight so have the motivation to try and sort out all the areas people will see a bit

Had rotten night's sleep due to major shivers then sweats as body tried to deal with some sort of chest/throat lurgy. Up at 5.30am for Lemsip (which I hate) so must be feeling bad!

Will plod through list and see where I get to:
Ta da:

  • Email report to friend re spending money on her house
  • Ebay chasing and feedback
  • Bath
  • All up and out with packed lunches

To do:

  • Oil part of kitchen worktop - its wooden and not usually very well looked after Blush
  • Kitchen floor
  • Dust living room - bit of a major frustration as clutter is rather overwhelming in there
  • De-clutter in living room for 15mins
  • Clear landing
  • Clean bathroom floor (its tiny so only a 5 min job)
  • Make brownies for bonfire night party tomorrow
  • Try and find vest tops for DD's dance show in 2 weeks. Need one black and one white one but am struggling to find any - thermals yes, vest tops no.

Best get on as will need rest breaks in between each job - really want to lie down ans sleep/read but not an option :(

pushmepullyou · 03/11/2011 10:58

Hello again Smile

Having spent the last couple of weeks full of steely resolve to be the most diligent fledgling on the November thread my plans were thwarted on the 1st by DS, who managed to stick his hand into a bowl of hot soup in a cafe resulting in a fascinating afternoon (and indeed birthday) at A&E and then the regional burns unit Sad.

Back again this lunch time when we will find out how bad it is or isn't. Fingers crossed. He doesn't seem in much pain anymore so hopefully that is a good sign.

Anyway, I am back on the wagon flying-wise! Have to admit my sink is not shiny, but I am focussing primarily on decluttering at the moment in the hope that tidiness will result before DS becomes fully mobile, which appears to be imminent Shock

Big hello waves to newbies and oldies Smile
