You are all going to be so disappointed. My hobby is horse riding. Ta da!! I really wasn't trying to be coy. I didn't realise you were all so nosey took such an interest in fellow thread members Grin I am totally mortified that it is not hang gliding or rally racing or anything a bit more adventurous Blush

I think they get 15 hours a week now so 3 hours a day. I will miss her but it will also give me a break and chance to get a few things done.

roastparsnipsandbrusselsprouts · 06/12/2011 22:37

It is a funny thing. You are sad and delighted at the same time. I miss mine a lot when they are at school and love the holidays but I do get more done and relax a bit more when I have a bit of time that is "mine".

bessie26 · 06/12/2011 22:50

We just filled in the form this evening. As DD1 only goes 2 days a week we will only get 12.5hrs funding, whereas if she went for 3 we would get 15hrs.. Are you wanting to do 5x3hrs Black? Someone i know was complaining that they couldn't get funded half days at their nursery, but I might not have been paying full attention to their constant winging got the whole story.

DD1 often says she doesn't want to go to pre-school & sometimes cries when I drop her off, but is fine when I peek through the window a minute later & is usually running around like a manic & doesn't want to leave when I go pick her up! Grin

I've done the meal plan tonight. Have been up & down with DD2 again as she still has a cold & is teething too. I guess I should be glad they are happening at the same time, rather than one after another!

AngelsfromtherealmsofgloryDog · 06/12/2011 23:00

Order / look for Christmas presents
Put away dry washing
Hang out wet washing - just about to do
5 mins tidy kitchen
Make DH lunch
Go to bed early - oops, better revise that to be 'earlier than yesterday'.

Spent all evening ordering Christmas presents, but I've got all of DH's (including a surprise he'll be really pleased with Xmas Grin), all of my parents' and my brother & SIL's done. Now it's just DH's family and my nephews to buy for, as well as foodie type things to be made nearer the time.

Definite progress!

roastparsnipsandbrusselsprouts · 06/12/2011 23:00

Our nursery allowed you to fit the free places in wherever it suited you - obviously a max of 2 per day. You would have to pay the bit in between free sessions if you wanted two in one day though.

Some folk just had the free session and no more and some paid the wrap around and took a whole day - especially those with dcs at school as well.

I was up and down the road like a human yo yo as they both had different schedules and rejigged it to make them as similar as I could. A bit of time with just one of them was lovely though.

BlackCatinaSantaHat · 07/12/2011 13:10

Thanks Angel you have just reminded me that I have washing in the machine from yesterdayBlush.

We have been out all morning battling against the wind. We had to return some library books and go to the post office. I tried to do a bit of Christmas shopping but DD was getting fed up so we came home. I might have to pop out alone at the weekend when DH can babysit.

The nursery offered us 2 time slots and we had to go for the morning one cause it fitted best around DS school time. Yes I think if she is happy I will let her go 5 mornings a week.
We are supposed to get there for 8.45 am Shock I hope we can manage that cause at the moment we sometimes don't leave home till 8.50am. I think we will have to get up earlier but it's hard in the winter.

BlackCatinaSantaHat · 07/12/2011 13:47

Carrots how is the weather with you?

We have strong wind and they say it will get worse tomorrow here and in Scotland.

bessie26 · 07/12/2011 19:59

we get DD1 up at 7am & have her at pre-school for 8am, but she has her breakfast there, so all we have to do is get her washed & dressed. Breakfast at home can take aggggggges!

I'm off to do my shopping list now. If you see me on here before I've finished it, give me a slap!

roastparsnipsandbrusselsprouts · 07/12/2011 20:02

Evening everyone.

Our weather has been ok today so far. A lot of my friends in the Central Belt are saying their schools are shutting at lunch time tomorrow due to the storm forecast. I don't know how bad it is likely to get up here. I am riding tomorrow and saw my instructor today. She was worried about the storm so it may be a day of housework and Christmas prep instead.

Today was dh's birthday so we went off on a jolly to the cinema and did some last minute Christmas shopping too. Poor dh had to make tea though (as I had to take dd out) but at least I had made him a cake. Yum!

molepomandmistletoe · 07/12/2011 20:23

Happy Birthday Mr carrots/parsnips!

mole I have no idea who you are, but you have been very busy - well done!

I've put all my recipes on my blog, was just about to start the list & DD2 has started stirring... waiting to see if I should go up or not. Sounds a sad little cry, think she must have a sore throat Sad

BlackCatinaSantaHat · 08/12/2011 10:09

Morning all, I am going to have a stay at home (Apart from school run) and try to do stuff kind of day.
I need to check out FlyLady . FlyLady.net

Bessie * 8.00 am that's early Xmas Shock

Carrots Happy Birthday to your DH for yesterday.

I think our recycling bag has blown away. It's getting windy here but not really awful yet.

BlackCatinaSantaHat · 08/12/2011 10:14

Right I'm off to sort my kitchen. catch up with ya'll later.Xmas Smile

bessie26 · 08/12/2011 11:47

black it has to be that early so I can get a decent number of hours at work. Before DD2 came along, DH & I used to get up at 630, get washed & have some breakfast before waking DD1 at 7 so we could spend some nice time sat in bed together drinking tea/milk before all getting dressed. Everything had to be laid out ready the night before or we would struggle to get out of the house before 745. I'm not even thinking about how we are going to get 2 of them ready!

Poor DD2 has a croaky voice, but seems happy enough (when dosed with Calpol), so we're going to stay at home in the warm today Grin

This morning I've:

  • made lunch (risotto in slow cooker)
  • cooked up some appley breakfast to go in the freezer for DD2
  • tidied up the dining room a bit more
  • laundry
  • washed up
  • swish & swipe
  • chased oven fixing people

This afternoon I need to:

  • vacuum
  • mop floor
  • finish the shopping list
  • work out what's for dinner
  • start tidying cupboard under stairs (carpenter coming on mon)

Hope the weather is ok for you guys up north?

BlackCatinaSantaHat · 08/12/2011 15:37

Parsnips Are you o.k.? The weather in Scotland sounds awful.

roastparsnipsandbrusselsprouts · 08/12/2011 19:03

Hi everyone.

bessie it is now officially outrageous that they haven't fixed your oven yet.Xmas Angry for you.

I will be a lot happier when dd gets home (should be in next 20 mins) as it is getting crazy windy here now. It wasn't too bad this morning and I got to the stables ok, although we were confined to the big shed for safety. By school pick up it was getting bad but still at the entertaining stage (dcs unzipping jackets in attempts to fly etc) but now it is getting really bad and bit scary.

Friends in Central Scotland have had it really bad. Everyone was sent home and walls, buildings and roofs (rooves?) have blown down or off. Chimneys are all over the place etc.

Hopefully it won't be that bad here. I just want dd home

BlackCatinaSantaHat · 08/12/2011 19:29

Wind is getting bad here too but it is probably worse where you are.
DH has gone to work (on his bike) .
Hope your DD gets back o.k.

Do you know if the trains are running from Edingburgh to north England?
A family member went there for the day, now not sure if they can get back today.

roastparsnipsandbrusselsprouts · 08/12/2011 20:19

Dd is now home and tucked up in my bed as I don't want her near the roof tonight.

BlackCat I think there was some disruption to the railways due to trees on the lines. I take it they are not answering texts/mobile calls? A friend went shopping in Edinburgh today because it would be so quiet due to the storm Xmas Hmm but has got home ok. I hope your relative is ok. They are probably tucked up in a Scottish pub having a ball, waiting for the trains to get sorted out.

I have never known it so bad here and have lived here 11 years. I can feel and hear it pulling at the house. It is properly scary.

BlackCat is your dh on a push bike or a motor bike? Can you contact him at work to check he got there safely?

BlackCatinaSantaHat · 08/12/2011 21:11

DM managed to speak to DB (in Edingborough ) and he said the trains are running about an hour late and they have to go slow.

Can't get hold of DH no one works in the offices at night and he's not allowed a mobile (In factory). He has a push bike.
I guess if anything bad happened I would find out one way or another. Have to think along the lines of "no news is good news." (Can't wait till the morning when he gets home).

Hope you all stay safe tonight.

roastparsnipsandbrusselsprouts · 08/12/2011 21:21

BlackCat I think if there was something to worry about you would know by now.

AngelsfromtherealmsofgloryDog · 08/12/2011 23:13

Hope everything is okay, BlackCat. It's bad enough down here in the Home Counties so thinking of you & Carrots up north.

BlackCatinaSantaHat · 09/12/2011 10:02

Sorry I couldn't get on here earlier, DD was throwing tantrums about allsorts. Hmm

DH got home safely and is tucked up in bed now [Fsmile]

Hope everything is o.k. with you Parsnips

I am still having one or two computer problems so if I disappear from MN that would probably be the reason. I am really hoping it doesn't pack up cause we have a lot of photos on it (Haven't got round to storing them all onto memory sticks.) I sometimes wish we could go back to the old way of having photos in photo albums (Even though they take up space).

What do you all have planned?

I am going to tidy Living room/dining room as DD has scattered puzzle pieces everywhere.

bessie26 · 09/12/2011 16:03

hope everyone is ok? we've had a busy morning singing [rgrin]

we've all had a nice nap, I've just fed DD2 (DD1 is still asleep) and I'm attempting to download some christmassy songs from Amazon, although it appears to have downloaded half the files into a directory that doesn't exist?

Black I have all our photos backed up using Picasa - it makes it easy to share pics of the DC with family too.

BlackCatinaSantaHat · 09/12/2011 18:45

Bessie What is Picasa?

AngelsfromtherealmsofgloryDog · 09/12/2011 20:39

Hello everyone.

Hope Parsnips is okay - you're quiet today.

I'm having a day of feeling like I'm struggling to get anything done, but I managed to take DS swimming and did the supermarket shop, so that wasn't bad. He's asleep now (hooray) so I need to do some baking (fruity Chrsitmas biscotti), wash up, hang out washing and try to go to bed early.
