You are all going to be so disappointed. My hobby is horse riding. Ta da!! I really wasn't trying to be coy. I didn't realise you were all so nosey took such an interest in fellow thread members Grin I am totally mortified that it is not hang gliding or rally racing or anything a bit more adventurous Blush

DS got loads of Halloween treats from trick or treating but I am only allowing him to have one or two a day. Otherwise he would eat loads!

GossipWitch · 09/11/2011 23:39

I am alive, that really naughty dp of mine has now got me into WoW, but i am making sure i get some cleaning done before i let myself on it, it also helps that ds1 hogs the laptop from 4 til 7 so i have three hours off it there, so i only really play in the evening.

Carrotsandcelery · 10/11/2011 10:16

Hi Gossip glad to hear you are still there. What is Wow? Would I be better off not knowing?

I am not doing too well so far today. I have a bit of a dodgy tummy, my phone has gone on the blink (again), my card just got refused at the garage (thank goodness we live in a wee village and he just put it in the book), ds has forgotten his homework folder and I am supposed to be horse riding in an hour. I am not sure horse riding and a funny tummy mix Hmm

I am having a wee sit down to see if I have just got myself in a stew and I will calm down.

So far I have done the washed, lunch, school routine and that is about it.

BlackCatinaWoollyhat · 10/11/2011 11:34

Hi all, Hope you are o.k. Carrots.
Did you manage to go horse riding?

We all have colds. DS is just getting to the coughing stage and DD is at the runny nose/sneezing stage. I'm just at the tired stage. Hmm

As a result I haven't done anything yet.Blush
You'll have to get your whip out! Grin

I think I'll have one more brew then will try to get started.Wink

BlackCatinaWoollyhat · 10/11/2011 12:44

Carrots I had a look at the Fledgling Flyers thread and noticed on the first post of their new thread they have the link to FlyLady. Just wondered If you could do that when we next start our new thread.(I know this could be a while away yet).
I just feel I need a boot to get going some days and I thought maybe if we had a link that was easy to find It might give us a bit of encouragement to get going.Hmm
Although today I'm not feeling great!

Anyway I will try and do one on this post,(fingers crossed)

Flylady.net

bessie26 · 10/11/2011 12:47

gossip glad to hear you are still flying!

carrots WoW is World of Warcraft - I think it's like online Dungeons & Dragons? Hope you are feeling a bit better now & that the goulash wasn't to blame!

black hope you get some rest, good idea about the link, but surely you have the fly lady site bookmarked? Wink

I had an awful headache & felt a bit ropey last night, then woke up to the same headache, aching limbs, and a temp of 38.9 I've had a sore boob on & off for the last week so I think I might have mastitis I've started some antibiotics & had a nap while DD2 napped this morning, plan to do the same this afternoon & I'll hopefully be feeling a bit better by the time I have to pick DD1 up from pre-school, DH is going to be late home from work tonight so I have to get them both bathed & into bed too.

There will be very little flying going on here today!

Carrotsandcelery · 10/11/2011 14:30

Oh bessie that sounds horrid. I hope the antibiotics kick in quickly and you perk up soon. These things always happen when the other parent can't pitch in.

I don't feel great but I do feel a lot better than I did earlier. Dh had a funny tummy earlier in the week so I suspect it is a wee bug. He threw it off fairly quick so fingers crossed I do the same. I did go horse riding and we went out for a hack so it was very gentle and relaxing rather than the usual work out. I think it has done mind and body the world of good.

I have had a warm bath and read my book for a while. I am just having a cool down and then I am off to do the basics at least.

I am happy to do links BlackCat - do you mean every day or just at the start of the thread so it is easy to find? I am not too bright today Grin

OP posts:
BlackCatinaWoollyhat · 10/11/2011 14:59

Carrots I suppose I mean on the first post on the first page of the new thread when we do one cause the first post always appears at the top of each page.
Don't worry too much about it!

Hope you feel better soon.Smile

Carrotsandcelery · 10/11/2011 18:33

Hello everyone. Has anyone done anything today?

I did manage to do the dishwasher and worktop thing. I also made dd and her friends pancakes so there is more mess to tidy up now. They did enjoy them though so I can take it on the chin. Grin

I have also found room in my wardrobe for the jackets I had cluttering up the coat rack in the vestibule. Dh still has to find room for his but, as he was the one moaning about it, it is his problem really Grin

I have a thumper of a headache now so I am just counting down til I can pick dd and her friends up from their activity and then get my dcs to bed.

Hopefully I will be perkier tomorrow as dh is supposed to have a flex day.

OP posts:
bessie26 · 10/11/2011 19:07

No, I haven't done anything much. I did add a couple of things to my meal plan, but although I feel much better than I did this morning, my head still hurts & I'm struggling to use the laptop for long. I do really need to get it sorted tonight (I'm hoping DH will do the shopping list part) as he's going to the supermarket tomorrow.

I found out today that DD1 is going to be a snowman in her first Xmas play! Where on earth do you get costumes for things like this from? (I don't own a sewing machine)

Carrotsandcelery · 10/11/2011 20:07

Would something like this do for the Christmas show? How cute!!

OP posts:
BlackCatinaWoollyhat · 10/11/2011 21:33

Hello, I managed to do a bit:
Cleaned draining board (next to sink)
Wash up x 1
sorted through 1 drawer of paperwork
hoovered up in dining/living room
Had to load washing machine cause DD was sick (caused by her cold I think)
Bathed DD and DS.

Tomorrow I will really need to try harder in the kitchen!

Carrotsandcelery · 10/11/2011 21:36

Well done blackcat I think you win the Maltsesers today.

OP posts:
AngelDog · 10/11/2011 21:59

I'll read upthread later but just saying hello.

Thanks for the sleep site suggestion, bessie. I strongly suspect DS is working on a developmental leap and hopefully it'll stop as suddenly as previous developmental sleep-craziness has.

I'm up to date with the laundry and downstairs is tidy. :) I've managed to MN less in the day - hence my absence (well, that and the fact I've been napping a lot! Wink)

BlackCatinaWoollyhat · 10/11/2011 22:08

Well done being up to date with the laundry Angel.
I think it will be a long time before I can say that

BlackCatinaWoollyhat · 11/11/2011 09:19

Hi all, am hoping to make more effort today so here's what I would like to get done:

Get DD to eat breakfastHmm
Have a shower
sort kitchen
maybe sort some more paperwork/decluttering.
Put away dry washing
hang wet washing
do more washing?
And turn computer off by 10.30am so I don't waste too much time sitting here doing nothing else!Grin

Wish me luck!

How are you all today?

bessie26 · 11/11/2011 13:08

Oooh, blackcat you'll be getting maltesers again today if you carry on like this!

Well done for the laundry angel, I remember once proudly telling DH I had washed everything and he promptly filled the laundry basket with the pile of once-worn clothes he keeps in the bottom of his wardrobe.

Not much flying here today as I have both the DDs here & took them out this morning. I'll hopefully get something done when they sleep this arvo.

bessie26 · 11/11/2011 16:10

thanks for the snowman link carrots it looks perfect! Grin

The antibiotics are definately doing the trick as I feel loads better, even the headache I've had since wed eve has almost gone! So this afternoon while the DDs were napping I

  • vacuumed downstairs
  • vaccumed the kitchen ceiling (begone spiders!)
  • mopped kitchen & utility
  • made tomato soup (for DD1s tea & for DH to take in for lunch next week)
  • cleaned the cutlery drawer
  • washed all the cutlery on hot in the dishwasher
  • cleaned the drawer under the oven where the baking trays go
  • wiped the microwave

i'm sure there was more, but DD2 has just woken up! (we are running a bit late today)

Carrotsandcelery · 11/11/2011 19:11

Wow! Lots achieved there today bessie. How did you get on blackcat?

I went to see "In Time" with dh Grin

Then I did some Christmas shopping.

By then it was time to pick up from school and take kids to after school activities so between us we have:

washed and dressed, packed lunches, dcs to school, loaded dishwasher,
washed and hung a load of washing and made tea Blush

But we did have a lovely day and eat a lot of popcorn Grin

OP posts:
BlackCatinaWoollyhat · 11/11/2011 19:42

I have:
Made beds
get dressed
DS to school
eventually got dd to eat her breakfast
had a shower
played on MN
Get DS home from school
done some washing up/drying up
and cooked tea.

Still need to go upstairs and sort wet/dry laundry.(forgot about that one!)Blush

GossipWitch · 11/11/2011 21:07

I learnt knitting this week, and wow is world of warcraft, and I clean up in between lol

Carrotsandcelery · 11/11/2011 21:12

Hi Gossip what are you knitting? You sound very cosy and settled with your dp already. I am so happy for you.

OP posts:
Carrotsandcelery · 11/11/2011 22:04

bessie we have a slow cooker related question. Have you cooked porrige in your slow cooker? We were thinking of giving it a go but were worried about how much liquid to put in.

OP posts:
bessie26 · 12/11/2011 12:31

They've also upped my thyroid meds, so I should be feeling even more perky soon Grin

carrots I have only made spiced porridge in my slow cooker, suggest you google for a recipe as I don't know how much liquid you should add, I read somewhere that a good rule of thumb is half the amount, but that might only be true for stews etc, not porridge.

I read the fly lady email this morning, as part of the zone work next week we can spend a few mins in every room to start getting ready for Xmas!

Carrotsandcelery · 12/11/2011 19:50

What dosage have they put you on bessie? I am glad they didn't reduce it. Hopefully it will kick in quickly. I can always feel the difference quite fast but know others who feel it take a while.

I will google on the porridge - thanks anyway.

I have done loads of Christmas shopping already. I haven't wrapped any yet though as I am waiting for gift tags to arrive. The school got the dcs to draw Christmas pictures and they are being made into cards and gift tags.

I have also bought some Christmas scented candles.

We have had a very busy day. We had our family party today so spent the morning scrubbing the house. It looked great. The aim is to keep on top of it from now until Christmas now it is done, so that it is pleasant for the Christmas season and extra visitors that brings.

Dh wants to put both Christmas trees up this year so hopefully the house will look very festive.
