Ali - i'll join you in that virtual beer Grin Hoping PIL will take DS1 out for his bike ride to coincide with leaving me in peace to watch the rugby.
They do my head in tbh, go on and on about how much they want to see the kids, spend time with them, etc (& how much their friend would love to as well) - they are currently either dozing on the sofa or reading the papers Hmm

Hello everyone.

All lovely and quiet here... DH's turn to take DC to rugby and I've actually been able to tidy the house, have toast, and now about to do the ironing whilst watching one of my drivel programmes that DH refuses to watch!

MIL and her classic time keeping again this morning. On Friday night she said she'd take the dog for her walk Sunday. Brilliant, as it saves us a job. She phoned at 9.30am to say she was on her way. It is now 11.05. She lives approximately 100 metres away, maybe not even that far. Seriously. I'd rather have just taken her myself and be done with it! I know I should be grateful, but it makes planning your day very difficult when they say morning, when actually they mean mid afternoon (this is a regular occurrence - they have actually been several days late for things in the past). Drives me potty!!!!

OP posts:
Anonymousbird · 13/03/2011 11:36

OK, so they came at 11.35, having called at 9.40!!! Never mind, rather them than me as it is now drizzling... so better late than never I suppose!

OP posts:
JustKeepSwimming · 13/03/2011 13:15

That's funny & aggravating Anon. My PIL go on about how much they want to see the boys so they will leave home 'early' then text at 10.30 to say they're on their way. They are retired (mostly) and could be ready to leave anytime (though i would say 9.05 to avoid traffic is logical), nutters.

Anyway house guests have left, just PIL coming for one night after a wedding in 2 weeks and that's it until baby arrives & they'll be desperate to meet 'it' so will try and fend them off for a couple of days at least.

Lazy day here :)

Sun:

  • DS1's homework DONE

Have been visiting DD2, who's bump is getting bigger by the minute and a very busy bump it is too.(32 weeks)

Alibabaandthe40nappies · 13/03/2011 22:48

Oh mini how lovely :) My Mum always gives my bump a cuddle and says 'hello this is Grandma' :) And MIL gave it a kiss yesterday which was nice, I'm glad she feels she can do it without me recoiling in horror Grin

JKS - I've done not a lot today, mainly issued instructions to DH! Oh and shopped online, a lot. Have bought new cloth nappies, some bits from Ikea and also a new mattress for the hammock. Just about to order a sling and then I think I'm done. Trying v.hard to resist those lovely big swaddling muslins that someone on our AN thread had bought!!

I was sorting out the moses basket we've been lent earlier and wondering if I should buy a new mattress for it. Then I realised that the mattress in it is brand new and sealed from the shop, my lovely friend got a new one for us before she brought it over! I must confess that I cried, and I must tell her that I'm not an ungrateful cow - I just hadn't realised! Blush

Ooh what sling are you going for Ali? Ended up carrying ds in one til he was ten months cos he was so horrible Wink

My parents are usually late as well. Or rather they are unable to specify a time and will say mid-morning then arrive at 12 (which to me is lunchtime not mid-morning!)

Did all the basics this morning now entering a slump. Only half an hour til I get ds anyway so may as well just sit for a bit!

Alibabaandthe40nappies · 14/03/2011 13:29

I'm going to get a Kari Me. I really need something that I can use for feeding and that isn't going to knacker my back. Several people have recommended the Kari Me so that helps.
I had a Close carrier with DS which I could never get the hang of - it was in two parts and had rings to adjust the bit that you strapped onto yourself, far too complicated and I hardly used it because I was scared DS would fall out.
One bit of material that I can tie a proper knot in will be much better I think :)

I've overdone it this morning, almost fainted and had to lie down. I think DS is in for a boring week this week, although we are going over to a friend's tomorrow for a bit.

Hello all Smile

We are in quarantine, DD has the pox, so slowly being driven mad.

Ali I have a kari me. It is fab. I carried DS in it for 2.5hrs last week and only really started to feel tired in the last 20mins or so and he is probably around 20 lbs now (7m) and i am having to take ibuprofen for a sore back several times a week (need to get back to chiro)

JKS are you training to be a BF counsellor? Mine was great, but found that not many people had any idea wrt milk donation, and only 2 of the staff on scbu were able to deal with it.

How long have you ladies got left?

JustKeepSwimming · 14/03/2011 16:33

Dave - quarantine is crap, do you know any others who've had it just to come round for a bit?
Yes i'm training to be a BF 'peer supporter' this is a lower level than a proper consultant, more like a Mum-to-Mum helper.
Milk donation is hopefully on the increase now that milk can be safely treated/tested for nasties.

There's a great website with loads of info here

I'm 35+1 now, really want to be 37 so something can happen (prob go overdue now!).

Anonymousbird · 14/03/2011 16:35

Dave - sorry to hear about the pox. Hope DD not suffering too much.

Good choice ali Grin I ended up with 3 wraps and a babyhawk, babyhawk was a bit easier to get him off and on my back while out (when he was bigger obv) but the wraps were so comfy and easy after a bit of practising.

Boo to chickenpox dave

JustKeepSwimming · 14/03/2011 17:45

Oh I'm glad you lot are giving it a thumbs up as well, so hard to know until you actually try the thing out.

Dave - chicken pox is so annoying, because you feel fine but can't go anywhere!!

Freak - once DS is in bed I will send you the money for those nappies :)

I have lost it a bit with DH this evening. He is up there now on the phone to one of his bloody colleagues instead of putting DS to bed - when he is going to see the bloke at 8am tomorrow morning (which incidentally means he needs to leave the house at 5.30am!!)
I know they are trying to finish stuff off before he goes on paternity leave, but raaaaggghhh.
I have persuaded him to get sign off to work from home all next week though, I am really struggling and I'm not sure how I will get through the next 3 days until he is at home again on Friday seeing as I can hardly fecking walk. :(

Alibabaandthe40nappies · 14/03/2011 23:06

Freak I've just done a bank transfer for the nappies, let me know how much the postage is :)
