Quick check in sit down to MN

Received a bill from the builder on Friday. They've done masses, so it won't be small.
Opened it an inch on Monday, took it out of the envelope yesterday. Today I must actually READ it, but would much rather do the housework (so the house, for once is tidy and very clean!) than see all those zeros before my eyes. Confused I can't complain as they are doing a great job, people on site all day every day (except today as they've all had to go and do a 'Elf un Safety course!) so it's all good stuff and we've budgeted for it, but still going to be a shock....

Need a Brew, possibly followed by a Wine!!

FuckoidOrganisoid · 17/02/2011 17:48

Have had a fucking awful afternoon. Was looking after my friends ds and we went to the toddler group we normally go to. I was keeping a close eye on him because he is going through a bit of an aggresive stage (has just turned 2), looked away to deal with ds for less than a minute then saw he was squeezing another little boy. Rushed over there to tell him off but the little boys dad roared, started yelling at friends ds calling him a horrible little boy and then started yelling at me saying "Can't you keep an eye on him or something, he always does this, he shouldn't be allowed to come, you should have been watching him etc etc" I said sorry I was just dealing with ds for a second but he kept on and on in front of everyone. I gave friends ds a time out and then he said sorry but the dad and one of his cronies kept giving me evils and muttering about me. At the time I dealt with it ok and ignored it but since then I've kept on shaking and bursting into tears.

Only positive thing is that everyone else including the group leader has said he totally overreacted and shouldn't have shouted at me and that they know I was watching him etc but I think it's the shock or something, I just feel really upset by it and am unable to brush it off like everyone thinks I should-now I've started crying I can't stop.

Alibabaandthe40nappies · 17/02/2011 17:57

Freak :( That man sounds vile. I would let yourself have a good cry about it and then hopefully you'll feel a bit better (((hugs)))

Wasting - oh bleugh, the nausea is horrid. Sympathies :(

Well I am a twat, frankly. I decided to walk to the surgery for my midwife appointment, and drop the dry cleaning off on the way (is about a quarter of the way there). Why didn't I take the buggy?? Why???
DS was fine to start with, on the reins and all going well. Dry cleaners took ages because the bloke wasn't there to start with, and then we set off for the surgery. Then DS had a huge coughing fit and was nearly sick, and just stopped and said 'Mummy I can't walk anymore', and I didn't have his inhaler with me or anything. Ended up carrying him home to get in the car to go to the midwife, which when he is 30lbs+ and I'm 8 months pregnant with a wonky pelvis was a nightmare. Got to the midwife with 1 min. to spare before my appointment and then had to wait AN HOUR to see her.
I'm so angry with myself, what was I thinking? DS seems ok, but he is exhausted again :(

FreakoidOrganisoid · 17/02/2011 19:12

Thanks ali Smile it was horrible but am feeling a bit better now. Haven't cried properly since aug 09 when things went tits up with h so I may not stop for a while, think there's lots of repressed emotion in there!

I did a similar twattish thing to you when pregnant with ds-the buses going to the hospital were usually ones with steps so rather than take the buggy I decided to let dd walk (was quite a walk to bus stops both ends), ended up carrying her most of the way and giving myself very scary false contractions.

JustKeepSwimming · 17/02/2011 20:15

Freak - that man sounds so nasty! Total over-reaction, him & his tutty friends should be ashamed of themselves, grrr.

Ali - ouch! Hope you are taking it easy tonight?

Think the head down thing has multiple effects; starving (as stomach must have been squashed before), more achy pelvis all of a sudden, breathlessness (as lungs are squashed by baby's bum!), etc.
Still at least HB looks like it might actually happen :)

ali - don't stress about the HIP form, no deadline for submitting it, apart from once it's signed, then you have 30days (i think) to post it off.

I know, on paper we look like polar opposites but think it's both from our previous experiences that have shaped our hopes/plans for future births. I certainly would not want another emc-s. And i've luckily never actually had a baby in distress. Have met some hosp MWs/nurses from hell though whilst the community MWs have all been lovely :)
Really hope my normal MW is on duty for this birth as she is is so calm & lovely & experienced.
