Hi all
sorry, been absent, Baby had allergic rash, went to a and e Sunday night with it. Honestly, I'm going to be an old woman by Xmas.
I'd forgotten how worrying and nervewracking it is having a newborn. Trying to fit in Xmas type stuff like wrapping, card writing, concerts, kids' parties ... it's very difficult!!!
Off to my book club tonight, just for an hour, taking the Baby! My mum is babysitting the other two!

You all sound busy sorry no personals. Will be better in New Year hopefully!

love to you all!!!

wendyhappysmile · 14/12/2010 16:47

Both DS and DD have rotten colds and coughs too. Trying to get them through concert and party - DD is Mary!

swanriver · 14/12/2010 18:16

boo hoo afternoon not going to plan...
made salt dough, but had to force dcs to make decs. Given up and let them watch this week's Big Performance.

Tbh I am as usual defeated by these festive preps [grr]
Kitchen is covered in christmas craft that no-one wants to do for more than 5 mins, dd has taken large objects for her buildabear (Moses baskets, bouncy chairs Angry) out of loft when we went up to get decs, large objects I am now tripping over.
I have had to cuddle Buildabear repeatedly, break up a fight between the dss (one pretending to be a slug in a sleeping bag)and draw bad pics of Angels/Shepherds/mangers for dd's project because she said she couldn't draw or colour..

Xmas Hmm

Every worktop seems to be covered in somethiing and I now have a large carriage lantern in my hall which builder couldn't put up Angry

Scatty how do you put up strings for cards, just out interest? Bluetack? Nail? Hooks? Drawing pins?

wendy that's fantastic you are going to bookclub, they will be thrilled to see him!
Parties and drop offs and pickupsXmas Sad

swanriver · 14/12/2010 18:21

On the other hand, hall is looking bright!

And we are not expected anywhere today
Btw check out TM's blog.

evening all

wendy you're doing great - hang in there. I'm amazed you could even consider a book club...WELL DONE you!

swan Yay for hall. I just need a bigger hall to avoid ususaly coming in/going out traffic jams Xmas Hmm

dyls we found out nanny on childcare.co.uk you can view profiles of Nannys (or childminders) in your area for free, but I think need to sign up with fee to access their contact details...it isn't much though, I think about £12 for 3 months.
Have also heard good things about advertising on Gumtree. Think it was just luck we found soemone who met what we needed quite easily. Also have you tried netmums? If you register with your local netmums you can access local childcare board.
Not very keen on agencies TBH. Would rather find the right pwerson myself and not have to pay ££££ to agency....childcare is such a PITA isn't it.
Hope you find what you need.

sactty glad you're seeing funny side of Christmas letter...I too stil lhavent written my Christmas card Xmas Blush

well...busy day today...
Kids to school, followed by paid work...followed by metting with Head Teacher...
Meeting was complex...she thinks she's in the right, LEA think theyre in the right Xmas Confused
BUT I do know that LEA bloke is scared and has rung HT to request urgent meeting before he meets me on Thurs LOL
anyway...have more endless papers and reports to read through ...sigh...

BUT have 2 days annual leave booked, and even more excitingly DC are in school/nursery...so potentially tomorrow morning I have a whole 4 1/2 hours to MYSELF whooohhoooo
I am hoping to finish some Christmas shopping...then have DD4s nativiy at 2pm...
Then Thurs am have meeting with LEA bloke, then DD3 nativity... so not really that much free time, but better than nothing Xmas Wink

hope to to do some house blitzing tomorrow too....BBtomorrow [fgrin

OverflowingMum · 14/12/2010 19:04

awww poncey that sounds rubbish. Poor dd. Our brownies was also rubbish...have defected to cubs...so much better organised LOL

OverflowingMum · 14/12/2010 19:07

dyls also have a look on th CM/nanny board on here too , some good tips for recruiting the right childcare and guides to costs etc...

swanriver · 14/12/2010 22:00

Poncey and cupcakes too Xmas Angry, still..., one less late-night-high-on-sugar child to wrestle with!

horrible evening, entirely my fault I'm sure, horrible PMT [wine has not helped]- but we all enjoyed Cluedo again, and I tried to modulate my tones, and finally everyone is in bed asleep. Ds loves to chat. Dd has turned her bedroom upside down with Buildabear arrangements, ds2 was howling for Dad to put him to bed...

I feel like I have been tidying desperately all evening. Dh is at a party, bless him... It would be so nice if he walked into a nice clean house and didn't trip over something [rat, child, knapsack] on way in.

OFM I think you are the person to get through to LEA if there is anyone who can get through - Good Luck with it.

swanriver · 14/12/2010 22:06

Poncey and OFM our Brownies are frighteningly organised. They set homework; badges fly thick and fast. Dd sews them on herself. Ds2 brings home one badge every year from Beavers which I then manage to lose..Sad Never had any cupcakes requested either!

wendyhappysmile · 15/12/2010 08:12

Poncey that is rubbish! Poor organisation from them and super organisation from you! (perhaps you should volunteer LOL)
swan I'm sure DH doesn't care about tripping on something and would rather you were in a good mood! LOL
OFM what is happening with school and LEA, I have missed it?
all hi

Book club was great, but then two poorly kids (they are a lot better after 14 hours sleep!!) kept waking up even though I went to bed at 9.30 I managed 10 mins sleep before one of them woke me up! Then it was time for Baby to wake be shushed and finally fed ... 12.30 DH got home from party and got Baby to sleep and I went straight to sleep while he tried! LOL Then Baby slept til 5.30 so can't complain at that.

BBL Xmas concert at nursery today, looking forward to it.

swanriver · 15/12/2010 09:51

went to bed at 12.00 what with one thing and another (downstairs now v.tidy!) dh came back at 11 from party (hates new bright hall light [grr]) in a baaad mood

woken at 6 by annoying child who had wet his bed, who then kept us awake fidgeting till it was time to get up Hmm
annoying child morphed into charming child at breakfast due to head start in getting ready - did lovely Lego, chatted, got dressed etc...
other less annoying children impossible to wake up [grr] and get ready for school Xmas Grin That's Advent for you!

Enjoy nursery concert Wendy Xmas Smile baby sounds like such a good sleeper already - I like the "shushing" Smile and hope little ones have a cosy afternoon recovering from colds.

swanriver · 15/12/2010 09:55

OFM hope free morning has relaxing side Xmas Grin and that you have had a good start today (not like some of us Xmas Hmm

OverflowingMum · 15/12/2010 11:51

morning all

well, day not going quite to plan LOL
Was quite looking forward to child free morning, but alas DS2 woke up looking quite unwell, quite hot and sat whimpering...drank some milk then threw up everywhere...sigh..
So I have him at home with me. On the positive side though I didnt have the stress of having to have day off work as I'm already off! and by the time we got to drop DDs at school he seemed much brighter.
Managed a quick pop to the shops after school drop off, and he has now gone for a nap....
Have dd4s nativity at 2pm...which I will now have to ring DS2 to which is a shame as I was looking forward to watching it without being preoccupied by wrestling a delinquent toddler throughout...but hey!

House a mess - must do a quick whizz round in a minute.
also must do serious ammounts of washing.

May now go and start wrapping presents whilst DS in bed....

swan early start doesnt sound good.Hope you got them all off to school in reasonable humour.

wendy book club sounds good. and well doen Arthur for sleeping till 5.30! Hope you enjoy the concert.
Re LEA, I applied for Satutory Assesement for a statement for dd3 - on the basis that the report from the LSA made certain recommendations, which school said they cant impliment due to lack of resources/staff/budget etc...
LEA say school should be able to meet her needs without a statement,so refused request. School still say they cant. Meanwhile poor dd falls further and further behind and becomes more and more disillusioned with scholl Xmas Sad
Anyway, I am appealing, and just preparing case for tribunal. I have meeting with LEA loke tomorrow - all very complex and I am now attempting to memorize Special Educational Needs Code of Practice...
Just what I need right now LOL ...sigh..

right...should go an be useful...only have just over an hour...

BBL Xmas Grin

funtimefairyintinselledwincies · 15/12/2010 13:07

Oh Poncey, that's really bad (speaking as an ex-Brownie Guider too) Xmas Sad. Why didn't they do a combined Rainbow/Brownie party or disco if organising 2 was too big a job Xmas Hmm.

Swan - ds1 does this too. I make sure that I set aside time to do the fun stuff that he wants and then he changes his mind/loses interest at the last moment. Then, when I'm up to my ears in stuff, he's badgering me again. Arghhh!

Another busy one today...
Whole family to dentist for checkups done
Lidl for nappies done
Lunch for ds2 and snack for ds1, then take ds1 to his school party this p.m. done

I need to sort out stockings and put somewhere safe (but not too safe Xmas Confused). I also need to tackle the mess in my bedroom, but I've no energy at all today (fighting off dh's hideous cold). Luckily ds1 has gone for a sleep but won't take kindly to being woken up to collect ds1 later.

Oh arse, is it too early to break open the Xmas tin of Roses Xmas Grin?

swanriver · 15/12/2010 13:24

Fun the christmas cake is nearly finished here Xmas Blush I say - go for those Roses!
Mind you I haven't dared make any fudge Xmas Wink

friend has left. Feel exhausted by political discussions about value of Geography Degree etc etc. Need some nice gossipy friends round Xmas Hmm

Have put up sparkly stars in livingroom.

Looking after friend's two little boys after school till 6.30, so will be required to be in a good mood Xmas Smile

OFM ahh poor little ds2, glad you didn't have stress of worrying about getting to work this morning though..

swanriver · 15/12/2010 13:25

Different friend's little boys!

funtimefairyintinselledwincies · 15/12/2010 13:52

Ahh, now, the fudge is still in the fridge Xmas Grin.

Actually, I want sparkly stars in my living room too!

Makingchanges · 15/12/2010 18:53

Evening all,

I read up on everyones news yesterday but didn't get time to post - was up till 1am cleaning and tidying last night as DD couldn't sleep so figured it was pointless me trying. She is full of cold -am hoping its just that.

Been to school today to make up for snow days - last day tomorrow and then one essay before christmas and I'm done. Had DDs christmas concert on Tuesday - it was fab.

DD is in a complete mood tonight - didn't eat lunch at school and has now had tea for over an hour - DH is away and not sureif shes not playing up because of this but she is really tryingmy patience.

OFM good luck tomorrow and hope DS2 is better.

funtime i'm with you on the sparklies

Swan hope you get to catch up on sleep tonight.

Right off to sort DD out and finish of paperwork for tomorrow, shower and hopefully early night - praying for no snow so i can get to school tomorrow or I won't be able to finish my placement :(

Back tomorrow

scattyspice · 15/12/2010 19:25

Good luck mC with the rest of your placement and essay.

swan I am also loving your twinkly starts Xmas Smile. Hope the extra boys were good.

poncy poor dd. Our beavers/rainbows is hopelessly disorganised too (but helpers lovely and dc enjoy it).

ofm Huge sympathy for missing your 4hrs! I bet you don't get that opportunity often.

fun I have presents stashed all over the house!

Am in the middle of crazy multiple drop off and pick up chaos (both have seperate outings tonight).

OverflowingMum · 15/12/2010 21:10

quick hello

scatty hope you survived drop off chaos! and yes I was gutted to miss out on my whole 4 hours child free...could well be another year before I get the chance again LOL

swan hope you managed friends boys and good mood!

MC hope you get into school tomorrow, and that DD wakes up in better mood!

funtime Im most impressed fudge is still in fridge!

well...this afternoon wasnt great. I had to wake DS2 up to go to DDs nativity. He was very grumpy and felt hot again....but got him in the car and got to school...and just as I pulled up he threw up EVERWHERE bless him. Thank flip I had spare clothes for him with me...so I got him cleaned up and changed, and watched DDs nativity - which was lovelyXmas Grin, and bless him ds2 just lay in my lap looking pathetic.Xmas Sad
I did manage to collect all older dc at end of nativity and take them home 40 mins early...as told HT I couldn't wait with poorly ds...
DS went up to bed early but keeps waking and wimpering , bless him. am keeping fingers crossed he stays asleep now for rest of night...

Then DH has been deployed in complex party dropping off/picking up arrangements...
whilst I spent 2 1/2 hours reading rports/letters/special needs code of practice etc and making notes ready for meeting with LEA man tomorrow...

My brain is now fried Xmas Confused

am now going to bed early , mostly to stop myself eating anymore rubbish - I have been SO bad lately...sigh...

tomorrow I need to :
look after poorly DS
Do about 6 loads of washing
Hoover lounge
quick tidy downstairs first thing
bathrooms
meeting with LEA man 10.00
DD3 nativity at 2.00

Will BBtomorrow Xmas Grin

We've wrapped all the kids' presents and hidden them! whch includes wrapping presents from absentee gps..
left the John Lewis delivery note on the breakkfast table by mistake though Xmas Blush dd was perusing it with interest...before I was snatched it away. Verylate nigth again.

swanriver · 16/12/2010 10:01

Now unpacking online groceries I ordred for party, trying to fit everything in existing freezer drawers - frostbitten fingers.
Substitutions - v. annoying, but once the food's in the house I suppose it's a pty to send it back Xmas Wink will have to think of somethng to do with lots of non-crispy seafood on Xmas day.

I also have to cook a large pot of moroccan casserole and a fish pie for the party, and make some mince pies to add to those I ordered [surely I can rstle up mince pies at least and not rely on supermarket Xmas Hmm

swanriver · 16/12/2010 10:03

pnocey four hours! I think he's probably crosser than you, poor fellow.
I renewed my AA! This time last year I wasn't covered..in the ice etc...and had to do emergercency signup - actually it is all a blur
