Hello.Smile

I am a rubbish FLYer again, lately, but keep checking for the birth announcement.

It will definitely be on this thread somewhere....hopefully near the beginning!

Good luck WendySmile

Party sounds great swan. I totally admire people who have parties Smile.

I am feeling immaturely irritated by an old school friends annual family letter. I get like this every year. Its all: 'Ds is in yr3 now and doing well at the guitar and the trumpet' (while my ds is in yr3 and struggling to read) and 'dd has started school and is already a willing learner and very popular' (while my dd is in yr1 and apparently lacks concentration and coordination). They have fabulous holidays (sorry trips), lots of 'gatherings' and are continuously rennovating country piles! Sigh (ok yes I'm a bit Xmas Envy but also Xmas Angry).

Anyway
To do:
laundry
hoover
write Christmas cards

BBL

scatty - the whole point of round robins is to ignore them or laugh at them. you only see what they want you to see.

swanriver · 13/12/2010 16:53

Yes they are dreadful things.
I personally hate people's stagey photos of their children. Now if they were all sitting round eating rice krispies in the picture it would more interesting...and you would get to see the inside of their renovated piles Grin

dd has been given tons of homework, my blood is boiling Xmas Angry she is now even more likely to say she doesn't want to go to school tomorrow again...

Fun radio is on, and I'm in for another round of Cluedo and then Beavers/Scout play at 6.30.

Both downstairs rooms now looking relatively tidy Smile Kitchen full of seething passions though Sad

funtimefairyintinselledwincies · 13/12/2010 19:59

I can't stand round robins, they're usually just so dull.

Well, it's all got a bit good life here this afternoon as I got the urge to make some fudge. Lovely neighbours have started dropping little presents off for the ds', so I'm in need of some little things so that I'm not in the position of rumaging in the cupboard for a probably out of date box of cheese biscuits or leftover jar of marmalade Xmas Blush.

So, 7 bags of chocolate and pistachio fudge later, who'll put money on me having eaten them all myself by the end of the week Xmas Grin?

Scatty - my piles are giving me gyp, do your friends have an emergency call-out number? I'm in a rural area if that helps Xmas Wink.

MsSanta · 13/12/2010 20:38

Evening all Just passing to say Hi, might change my name back so you lot have a clue.
I'm with everyone else hate Bragging Round Robins. American friend sends me Christmas card with photos of her kids embossed into the card, As she's American, I'll let her off! Point is I see her & Kids every week Hmm
Scatty can't be arse'd to send those people a card back!
Fun Fudge Ds would think you were the best Mummy in the world and would eat the lot!
Swan Good luck with the party. Just get a bloke dressed in stocking to answer the door to people with kids! That should make them run. I did get annoyed with a friend who brought her 10 year old son to a grown-up's party! She was annoying for other reasons too so she got dropped.
Hey on that cheerful note I'm going to finish dressing the tree
put the W/M on
Clean the kitchen floor
Woman's work and all that [fbear]
& if I have time make soup!

OverflowingMum · 13/12/2010 20:40

evening all

scatty I have one friend that sends letter like that every year (I use the term "friend" loosley!)
I always think if I wrote one it would be more entertaining..."DD3 is still struggling to get herslef dressed, and is now trying level 1 of yet a different reading scheme, DD4 is working on the finer skills of manipulation and now gets her own way with astonishing regularity, mostly as her parents are just too exhausted to put up a fight. DS2 is a constant bundle of energy (I do wonder why they say that 2 is too young to diagnose ADHD?)and there seem to be several older children hovering in the backgound. Meanwhile our beautiful family abode is doing a very good imperpretation of a derelict building....."Xmas Wink

funtime fudge sounds yummy!

swan boycot homework I say!!

well, DD3 remains in total meltdown mode. It is so clearly all too much for her at this time of year. I am feeling a bit sad for her just now, I know that her diagnosis is a relatively minor thing compared to other things, but life seems so full of struggles for her just now, and will only get worse. Xmas Sad

Still, despite that evening not too ad. I did a good deed for friend of dds mum, she rang me this am to ask if I could bring her dd home for 20 mins after school as she had been asked to work late. She is lovely and has been dropping DD1 and 2 home for me after singing club on a Thurs to save me going back out, so was happy to do her a good turn Xmas Grin so said that dd friend should stay for tea.

Other than that...My Consultant at work had her baby on Friday - 9 weeks early Xmas Shock
She wasnt even due to go on Mat leave till Feb Xmas Shock
Apparently her waters broke at work on Fri
Baby doing well, and breathing on his own though. Only 4lbs. Feel a bit sad for her really, but hopefully all will be OK...just not how you plan it really is it!
That also means that job interviews may now be on hold...so my job is uncertain again...sigh..

am now reading through the VERY long Special Educational Needs Code of Practice...have meeting with Head Teacher tomorrow...sigh...

now off for quick glass of wine! Xmas Wink

OverflowingMum · 13/12/2010 20:42

impersonation even! I do wish you could edit posts LOL

OverflowingMum · 13/12/2010 20:46

MsSanta Hi, X posts. How have you got energy to make soup at ths time of night LOL Xmas Grin

swanriver · 13/12/2010 21:16

OFM could you keep her at home tomorrow for a breather? I sent dd into school today and I'm afraid she was even more badtempered when she came out Sad and required enormous amounts of sugar to even reboot her smile. Ds2 who had been skiving on the other hand was mildly irritating but totally calm and we cruised through Beavers/Scouts eve which as always has gone on far too late Xmas Angry

I had to lead the audience in song [arrgh]which was very Xmas Blush Dcs said I was completely embarassing. Not my choice, Akela had lost her voice.

All dcs are awake upstairs, Dh is trying to put them to bed by playing cards Xmas Grin

OverflowingMum · 13/12/2010 21:43

swan I HAVE to go to work tomorrow...so she has to go to school Xmas Sad BUT I have said that if she doesnt want to do nativity (she is very stressed about this) then she can stay off on Thursday... BUT she doesnt want to NOT do it...just she doesnt want to do it either IYSWIM...Xmas Confused
I may well keep her off Friday...BUT again she gets very stressed if she feels she is "Breaking the rules" (ie skiving!) as it were...
Hope card playing has helped...LOL

Roll On January!Xmas Grin

sorry OFM I got your days off wrong, I thought tomorrow was off..Xmas Blush and was also going to post that of course you had to see headmistress tomorrow so that wasn't going to work to keep her at home, not that it's a good plan anyway to let kids skive off Xmas Blush
Sometimes I do just feel school is too much for any sane person...then they come back saying they have painted Roman Shields and written poems to each other and I feel school is lovely. Perhaps there is just too much of it..

Dd has just screamed herself to sleep Sad she too hates breaking rules and wants to do everything, but just shortcircuits in the end. Ds2 doesn't care what anyone thinks, possibly a boy thing...

Poncey how are you doing it? Perhaps this is your favourite time of year Xmas Wink

OverflowingMum · 13/12/2010 22:10

poncey A cupboard door ?? when's DH back...
Very Xmas Envy of all those that fit parites into this ridiculous time of year LOL

So far this week I have to fit in:
Read and memorize whole SEN code of practice
1 meeting with Head teacher (for dd3)
1 meeting with LEA bloke (for DD3)
2 days of paid work

Santa visit for DS2
2 nativities for DD 3 and 4
Carol Service for DDs 1 and 2
Cubs party for DD2
Bday party for friends for DD3
Final Christmas shopping
Wrap all Christmas presents for 6DC
Interview preparation...maybe...who knows!!

and of course it may well snow again....and the house is a tip...and...and...and...sigh

But hey!!
BBtomorrow!Xmas Grin

and....I haven't been running or to the gym for about 500 years (or maybe 3 weeks?) so feel extremely fat and flabby...but can't see that happening till after Christmas...
although we do now have pavements again for first time today...so may venture out for freezing 2 miles tomorrow....Xmas Hmm

OverflowingMum · 13/12/2010 22:13

poncey gosh, that's a long time to be on your own. Any survival plans?

OverflowingMum · 13/12/2010 22:15

LOL swan No, tis paid work tomorrow...followed by Head Teacher appointment, followed by usual after school chaos...deep breath...Xmas Hmm

OverflowingMum · 13/12/2010 22:17

swan poor DD Xmas Sad I think school can be so hard. There was soooo much I loved about Home Edding the DC....sigh.
Hope she wakes up in better mood tomorrow.
(skiving is always good Xmas Wink)

OverflowingMum · 13/12/2010 22:19

Thank Heavens I've booked Weds and Thurs as annual leave is all I can say LOL

poncey moan away LOL...
must go to bed Xmas Confused

dylsmum1998 · 13/12/2010 22:38

evening all. OFM hope you sort out what dd wants to do. Can I ask if it doesn tgive away too much info- where did you go ot find your nanny. Did you use an agency or find one privately? I have been trying to find a childminder for dd and none want to do my 2 late nights Sad. Really don't know what I am going to do if I can't sort something out. I can't miss every single maths lecture and pass the course unfortunately.

my brain is too tired to actually take in rest of thread- sorry will try again tomorrow. Need to go and write an evaluation now whilst pulling out my hair at lack of available childcare!

SatinShoes · 14/12/2010 07:46

Poncey - you're used to it now and hardy, wizened woman Grin. I know how you feel though...

Drowning in a see of Barbie at present. Might actually have a day at home today so just need to distract DD2 so I can tidy up a bit...

swanriver · 14/12/2010 11:26

Dylsmum - most of my friends and acquaintances use something called Gumtree. Or sometimes toddler groups have notices up for aupairs who come recommended and want extra work? Sounds extremely difficult for you. But you will find a solution, there will be someone out there who wants to do those hours. It will be more expensive than a childminder though unless you are sharing with someone else in same position.

Builder putting up a light in hall to decrease hall rage! However joist is now found to be defective [grr] so back to the chinese white paper shades - the answer to everything Hmm He is also changing lights over the cooker Blush which we can't manage and the loo seats.

scattyspice · 14/12/2010 16:01

Would your builder call round and put up my Christmas tree and hang the cards up so that they don't keep falling down swan?

OFM poor dd. Hope things ease off next week when school finishes.

dyl hope you can find some childcare.

poncy sounds like hard work with dh away!

Feel better about the Christmas letter (thanks for all your common sense). Dh read it and roared with laughter Xmas Grin. Doesn't look like anyone will be getting a card from me unless I get my arse in gear!!
