Morning all I think DS & DH would like a weekend Boarding school. Hogwarts would be Ds's dream. One can have a pillow fight with other kids the other would like to sleep until 11am!
DS had a good day yesterday. Beavers then uptown to see Santa & the lights in Oxford Street. Santa in a Yurt on the South Bank was very naff, but Ds seemed to beleive it well he's not sure Xmas Smile Then to Wallace Museum to meet the men. Ds loved the armoury there, now I have to do some reading around this subject. It amazing how a 6 year old can test your knowledge. Tea then lights the an 'not so cheap as it used to be itailian meal! Next year it will just be the High Street.
This afternoon Rugby Kids Xmas party. Ds will find adult life very disapppointing Hmm
Right back in a mo with a list. Xmas Smile

funtimewincies · 12/12/2010 18:57

After yesterday's marathon pre-party blitz, we've had another busy one today.

evening all

swan hope game went well, I love Cleudo with the older DC

MsSanta hope you've cheered DH up Xmas Wink

funtime trip to forrest sounds fab!

poncey I often think there is alot to be said for boarding school LOL

Have had fairly good day. Stayed up till 12.30 last night though, just chatting to DH, but was very tired this morning !
Despite that managed to get a fair bit done..
Done:
Been to shops to buy new tree lights
Decorate Christmas tree
Persuaded DH to assemble 2 new shelving units for littlies room.
tidied littlies room and sorted books and toys into new units
3 loads of washing
Ironed new name labels onto DD4 uniform
Hung up all uniform
tidied chaos off landing and hoovered upstairs

littlies now thankfully in bed.
DD3 has been in total meltdown mood all weekend Xmas Sad She really just can't cope at all with all the disruption of the end of term (nativities, parties, carol concerts etc) and I think that together with last weeks snow chaos has just sent her into melt down.... she has really drained me of every last bit of patience this weekend..sigh...

Anyway, I have booked Weds and Thurs off work, so only working Mon, Tue this week Xmas Grin
I have dd4 nativity Weds afternoon, and DD3 nativity Thurs afternoon. then am hoping to fit in a bit of final Christmas shopping, although now also have meeting with LEA man on Thurs morning...Xmas Hmm

I have though been sent email from my Consultant saying that the Ad for the permenant jobs was going in on Friday, closing date 17th, and interviews on 21st Xmas Shock
Sooooo looks like I may now also have to fit in interview prepartion ready for an interview in just over a weeks time Xmas Shock Just what I need at this time of the year LOL

Anyway...deep breaths...

DD4 is still not toally well, although thankfully DD2 and DS1 now seem ok...fingers crossed for tomorrow...

OK, best get on ...

BBtomorrow Xmas Grin

swanriver · 12/12/2010 22:32

OFM I really lost my patience with dd this weekend too Sad She brings out the worst in me, whereas dss bring out the best Sad Dh thought she might be sickening for something because she was in tears so often..
You would have laughed to see our trip back from cinema. All children screaming at each other. Dh decides to get out and walk home as he can't bear another minute of it. All children jump out of car and insist on walking home with him Shock! I drive home peacefully and ice cake Wink

Cluedo went well though, may have to buy the oldfashioned version as it is a bit simpler than HP nonsense Grin Col Mustard et al!

Next stop to teach them Racing Demon.

swanriver · 12/12/2010 22:39

Funtime well done on finding those 12plus clothes Smile and how lovely to find a tree in a Christmas forest Xmas Smile

Opinions on parties please. All 40 plus guests given invites with their names only, and children's names left off. Party is "Christmas Drinks" and runs 6.30-9.30 (onwards)
AIBU to think that people should not then ask to bring their children when told it is an adult drinks?? We have had loads of family type parties with children invited, just thought we would try to have a wider range of guests for once?? Ah well I suppose we should just resign ourselves..[fgrr] it might be fun Xmas Smile

swanriver · 13/12/2010 09:29

Dh absolutely depressed and exhausted this morning saying he hadn't slept a wink,
leading to morning meltdown wth dts, who are now at home playing BuildABear upstairs Blush
Dt1 stole dt2's maths chart, causing ds2 to claim it was lost and have nervous breakdown, dt1 then too frightened to admit she had filled it in, then they both claimed they were going to get a detention if they went to school without chart...

Family Therapy Lady I have a nice cup of tea for you and a slice of cake...

pressing on with duplicate charts now and getting them off to school Xmas GrinXmas Wink

swanriver · 13/12/2010 09:39

today I AM GOING TO SCHOOL (a message from dd(Matilda)

godbiy (anselm) ds2

we are going to paint some gold leafs with spray (a message from dd)
[fbear]Xmas Hmm

funtimefairyintinselledwincies · 13/12/2010 10:35

I'm with you swan Xmas Grin. Despite what you may have been reading on some other threads lately, it is OK to have time without your children. If you've given enough notice for people to arrange a babysitter then it's fine. If people can't come, they can't come. It's not your fault Xmas Grin!

Ds2 has had his jabs this morning Xmas Sad. His cold is getting better, although he's still revoltingly snotty Xmas Confused.

Do you like my shiny new Xmas name, by the way?

Makingchanges · 13/12/2010 10:53

Morning all - Hope all well

Swan Tell them no kids get a sitter - I'd love to have a party like this. Like funtime has said, if you've given enough notice that should be fine.

Well DD didn't go to sleep until turned 1am this morning - she is full of cold and kept crying out every few minutes. Hoping she has a better night tonight as DH is away.

Done

-DD to school

  • week shop in morrisons
  • Sat in traffic jam trying to get home cos everyone trying to get to local shopping centre
  • Parcels picked up from post office
  • First lot of washing in

To Do

  • Go to DDs christmas play
  • Finish off assignment due tomorrow
  • Hoover, hoover and hoover (house a tip)
  • Write christmas cards for neighbours
  • Menu planm for week - busy week and need to be organised.
  • Tidy book and paperwork mountain that is slowly taking over the settee.

Right better get on. Back later

SatinShoes · 13/12/2010 14:01

Hi All
Busy here.

Swan - 6.30 seems early for adult drinks tbh.
I normally think before 7 start includes kids, after 7 start doesnt iyswim. However if I clarified with host and they said no kids, then it's no biggie - I;d be v excited and get a sitter.

swanriver · 13/12/2010 14:20

Satin I think confusion comes from people thinking they have to be there on dot at 6.30, when it is merely a starting point Xmas Grin Our guests are always an hour late....Dh being very punctual and Germanic can't bear it, decided that to get them there at 8.00 he needed to put 6.30, but I think it has backfired, as you suggested!

Ah well, totally resigned now to mayhem, I invited 60 people and 40 can come...that's not counting the children...

swanriver · 13/12/2010 14:20

Anyway done internet shop for party, so that's something. And dd is back at school. Ds2 still at home not that ill but a bit moochy.

SatinShoes · 13/12/2010 15:45

I like to be puntual so am always the first to arrive at parties Grin
