Remember Remember, Fledglings Fly through November

DidEinsteinsMum · 28/10/2010 23:58

Welcome to the November Fledgling Flying thread.

From the 1st of the month we shall be decluttering and taming the chaos using baby steps, missions and zones. A great big thank you to MrsDinky who looked after us last month.

We are not strict followers of the fat fairy and take some of the babysteps wearing shoes indoors with a pinch of salt. Also advise against signing up for the fairy's emails.

All are welcome, jump on board for one of our three methods of chaos attack:

  1. Baby steps
  2. Baby steps and 15mins decluttering in current zone
  3. Re-inforce the baby steps and daily mission

This month the fat fairy is gearing up for the feastive period. So I shall also post the christmas mission for those who wish are brave enough to look.

In here the motto is:

*"No perfection! Do what you can, but be realistic about what you can do."

Happy flying.

Evening,

systems if only. DH has officially been an arse today. He didn't get up until ten, no problem as I was thinking I would be able to go for an afternoon snooze. Unfortunately I was sadly mistaken as I was pottering about in the kitchen and he sloped back off to bed at half twelve, not getting up till 5 Angry. I know I could have woken him up but I couldn't be doing with the row tbh so I left him and am now in a sulk Grin.

Other than that I have just pottered around today. I have:-

Tesco
Tidied downstairs
washed up
Cooked Sunday Lunch
Washing
drying
Snuggled on sofa with dc's for afternoon movie.
Had that lovely sunday afternoon feeling when it is grotty outside and you are all snuggly, warm, relaxed and happy iykwim.

Was going to do some work tonight but the website i need to use is down so will have to do it quickly at school tomorrow. What a shame Wink.

Hope everyone has had a suitably relaxing Sunday.

NettieSnowBalls · 21/11/2010 20:00

did love the name. hope ds behaviour improved and chocolate was forthcoming!
ellie grr on your behalf lazy article. Im afraid sulking quietly is almost impossible for me and i would have had to get him up!!

Today was bit of a wash out, stood in ds misaimed wee first thing, swimming was definately wet. Pulling teeth out and aforementioned emergency dentist trip was awash in tears Blush terrible coward for dentists but been cemented back together for now. lunch in town, spilt soup, visited inlaws ds spilt water and fell against charis bashing ribs cue wet tears. home to bath and bed. as well as toy sorting, dw and wm and a bit of a tidy up!

ah well tomorrow is a new day and x-factor is sky plussed and waiting.

hope you all have nice night and i am going to come back tomorrow if just for list posting cos i need focus.

MrsDinky · 21/11/2010 21:40

Evening all,

Quite a productive day in the end. Family time in the morning, trip to town with DD on her bike for food for lunch and dinner, followed by an hour in the local country park and hot chocolate in the afternoon.

Flyingwise, I have decided that what suits me is a big push on Friday for the weekend, and Sunday night / Monday morning for the week ahead.

So, this afternoon/evening have done

Two loads of washing (forgot yesterday) - all put away
Ironing - half hour
DS and homework - half an hour
Enlist family to tidy up all upstairs floors in preparation for hoovering tomorrow - done
Polish school shoes, put out uniform, fill in forms, dinner money, packed lunches all done
Henna on head at 6pm - done, need to wash off before bedtime. Would love to leave it on all night and see the result but think it would take too long to wash out in the morning.

Nettie - sorry you have had such an accident prone day, ouch for the tooth.

Ellie - I would not have been as restrained with my DH, let me tell you!

Off to watch the Strictly results, see you all tomorrow.

systemsaddict · 21/11/2010 23:04
  • get clothes ready for tomorrow leaving to make sure it all dries but have all clothes clean hurray
  • bath kids done and they bathed together for the first time (ds normally terrified of dd splashing him so they go separately) which enabled me to use the time to tidy and swipe the bathroom
  • empty dw and reload with dinner stuff done
  • journal done using 750words.com
  • some more tidying didn't but instead Oven Prided the oven! need to finish tomorrow
  • find sheets for kids' beds didn't maybe tomorrow?
  • get ds' school bag ready just done seeing this although made me realise we haven't done homework this weekend - but having said that I am a bit conflicted at a just-4-year-old having homework to be honest!

night all

swanriver · 21/11/2010 23:21

MrsD so right on Friday being the day to concentrate one's domestic attentions on - thus enabling weekend to be just about bearable Blush
no cleaning (except Nettie as you mentioned, the everpresent pools of pee Hmm) have done little bursts of tidying which worked quite well.
I think no cooking at weekend may be the next step tooShock bread cheese and paperplates, and tins of soup or reheatable anything yes, then I could catch up with family fun! I did cook this time, but that was a mistake Hmm and everyone ended up having a row because of it HmmHmm

Two lovely days mostly out and about -
did WW2 today at RAF museum in North London excellent Battle of Britain exhibition and loads of planes, Magician's Nephew play in church on Sat (not our church so nice to go in for once)

Systems well done
Ellie you sound like you worked very hard this weekend looking after everyone. You should be proud of all your efforts and lovely snuggling, and dh is probably feeling a bit ashamed now or possibly depressed even? All that sleeping is what I do when a bit down and out of it. Anyway hope he gives you a bit more help soon, I must try and give dh a bit more help myself Blush he always gets up.

Toffeefudgecake · 21/11/2010 23:21

Tackled the laundry and ironing today, so am feeling a bit more in control. DS2 wet the bed AGAIN, so had to wash all his sheets. Don't understand why he is suddenly doing this after being dry for so long, unless it is something to do with sleeping in a different bedroom. Any ideas, anyone?

My tumbledrier has broken, so I have a huge backlog of washing to be done and dried. However, MIL has paid for a new tumbledrier as a thank you present, which will be delivered on Tuesday Grin, when I will tackle the backlog. (Must be getting old to be excited at the thought of a new tumbledrier Blush).

Had a lie in this morning and DH did the hoovering, washing up and looked after DC Shock. Ellie - excuse me for saying it, but your DH needs a kick up the arse! He really wasn't being fair on you. If I was you I would have to say something.

Apart from laundry and ironing (which I enjoyed, curiously Confused), I have done the minimum of tasks today. Cooked lots of meals though and have spent the past hour tidying up.

Nettie - sorry about the tooth Sad

MrsD - well done on yr productive day

Ihate - hope you and yr family feel better soon

Dolanette - fantastic list! Well done!

System - no chance of a chilled-out Sunday in my house either. Sounds like you got loads done though.

Deck - impressive list. Hope you feel better soon.

Waves to everyone else. Off to do a Tesco order now, then bed.

swanriver · 21/11/2010 23:24

Nettie my mouth is full of crowns too, I will tke heed Shock Poor you.

Mst go to bed!

Toffeefudgecake · 21/11/2010 23:24

Swan - glad you had a good weekend. I love your idea about no cooking at the weekend and paper plates Grin.

Toffeefudgecake · 21/11/2010 23:27

PS Saw this on another thread and thought of you lot Smile. Night all.

DeckTheIceWithDragonsAndHolly · 22/11/2010 02:23

its a nice thought toffee but am afraid it is not what i dream of. tbh i couldnt careless about tidy. i need tidy because it helps keep ds calm.

my dreams are more dynamic.

systemsaddict · 22/11/2010 07:23

EEEWWWWW the horrors that came out of my oven this morning! It has been belching black smoke every time I cook and now I see why. And it has done so since we moved in. On 27 November last year. I cannot believe it took me a year to clean the oven. (disclaimer: I did give it a cursory wipe or two with some Astonish once or twice though.) I now see why Oven Pride has such a following on here.

DEM hoping that if I ever get the house tidy it might help keep ds calm too, he's starting assessment process this week, sensory issues and maybe something else underlying too. I do see a difference when we are more organised and I am less stressed.

LinzerTorte · 22/11/2010 07:57

Morning all,

Am determined to get back on track this week after an almost complete lack of flying recently. I've had the occasional CBA day before, but it's never gone on this long. Sorry to hear you've been experiencing something similar SC. Your DD sounds v. similar to DD2, who is being particularly difficult atm and sucks all the energy out of me some days. I do try to ignore her tantrums as much as I can, but it's difficult sometimes.

swan and Toffee Thanks for the kind words; I don't think the cold grey weather is helping my mood, but I'm trying to adopt a more positive outlook!

systems I gave my oven a long overdue clean yesterday too; the fact that the smoke alarm went off every time I opened it (when it was on) made me realise it couldn't be put off any longer!

Toffee Sympathies wrt the wet bed and all the washing - I've given up with DS (although I think he's a bit younger than your DS) and put him back in nappies. He was dry for a while after he was first potty trained, but then started having accidents on far too regular a basis. We had similar problems with DD2 a few months ago, but she's been much better since we started lifting her when we go to bed; I also make sure that she doesn't have too much to drink after about 6 pm. (btw - not sure if you saw my PM re proofreading, but I think I've sorted it out now!)

ellie I would have been furious if that had been my DH. I usually let him have a lie in at the weekends, as a) I'm more of a morning person anyway, and b) he generally does more with the DC at the weekends than I do, but he rarely stays in bed for longer than an hour or so after I've got up. If he's the one who happens to get up with the DC, however, he'll usually go back to bed for a while later on - only for about half an hour so obviously not on a scale with your DH, but it still annoys me slightly - it's not as if the DC get up at 5 am (but I know I'm being a bit unreasonable).

I actually managed to have a lie in until 9 am yesterday, which is virtually unheard of for me - I told DH I just couldn't get up, so he got up with DS (the girls had stayed overnight at a friend's). However, I suspect all the good work may have been undone as I've been awake since 4 am this morning, when DH had to leave for the airport (he's gone to Berlin for three days).

DEM and Nettie Cards will be winging their way to your DSs very soon. Smile

swanriver · 22/11/2010 09:19

Almost as good as watching a Xms special DEM loving your loops Smile

Well this morning GOOD is
ds2 hs been dancing around to Swanlake Nutcracker
signed a nearly forgotten permission slip and found loose change for it
waterbottle
ds2 to school
I'm dressed nd showered

BADis
house a tip well on surface anyway - sink piled high, enemy cats have sprayed kitchen, recycling abounds, books cds newspapers, laundry catalogues scttered around
no food (except bizarrely, cat food)
zillions of xms stuff to do which is starting to scare me
TWO dcs now at home today, dd claims to have sore throat. So need to supervise them too. And no chance of Xms ordering when they are around as they will hover over me tryng to use the computer...Angry

Right I hve an hour whilst dd is malingering in bed still, and ds1 is watching Merlin.
So HOUSE BLESS wheee here I go 60 mins!

DeckTheIceWithDragonsAndHolly · 22/11/2010 09:26

Not me in the video swan. But aparantly its a good training aid Hmm so i expect i will have to deal with it at some point. Confused

2hrs sleep = not functioning. So am afraid flying on hold for rest.

swanriver · 22/11/2010 09:33

I know it's not you Deck Shock it's the inspiration that counts Grin

now posted on telly addicts - not a good start to the CANBA Blush

get some sleep - please

highlighterpen · 22/11/2010 10:26

Morning all and sorry to see that lots of us didn't get much rest and relaxation over the weekend. Sleep well DID Smile.

The weekend with in-laws went well. Kept on top of it all despite no dishwasher.
Haven't yet done a house blessing as always work on Mondays, but have:
Changed cot sheet
Showered and done hair
Got DTs up, clean, fed and dressed (and now asleep again)
Load of washing on
Washed up
Cleaned kitchen table and floor

TO do
Mission
DH is having a go at fixing the dishwasher
Order xmas pressies for nieces online
Drop prescription at Docs
Work work
Wash kitchen floor

Swan hope your house blessing goes well! Linzer hope you have a good start to your FLYing week! systems one year is nothing. Last time I cleaned our oven I realised it hadn't been cleaned for three years Blush (since we had my mum staying). It was revolting. And I think even now it still has about six months of grime in.

Must go and get on. Happy Monday everyone Smile

loosinas · 22/11/2010 10:35

hey all.... god i hate mornings !!
whats everybody got to do today... im not even managing to make a list just yet let alone get started on it !!

Ihatecobwebs · 22/11/2010 11:00

Morning

DH has decided that he really must go into work today, so crawled out of bed and into car. (I think he will be sent home again. The Office Manager hates people in when they are unwell - it's a small office so a bug that's passed around really affects them.)

I've kept DS at home today, slightly under protest as he says he's better and wants to be at playgroup, but he's still full of cold and I really do not want him to pick up anything else while he's under the weather. He's prone to chest infections, wheezing, breathing problems and has been hospitalised with pneumonia so I don't think its PFB syndrome.

I've set DS up in the living room with a DVD on and his teddy to cuddle, so hopefully he'll stay still for a while, rather than trying to run round the house, then have coughing/wheezing fit! Not much done today (I've still got the bug, but mummy's don't seem to be allowed sick days round here Sad)

Done
Morning routine
Vacuum living room
Whizz round tidy and clean living room
Clean washing away
Wet washing on airer (so I don't have to stand out in the cold today)

To Do
Washup breakfast stuff
S/s
Change beds
Washing in machine
WHBH
Pgp phonecalls and paperwork
WI paperwork
Our paperwork/bills/finance stuff
Zone cleaning or decluttering (our bedroom is the "hole" as its the one room I know visitors never see)
Lunch
Finish making mincemeat - need to go to shed to get jars first
Hotspot
Paper item from To Do list
Cook tea (was going to do chicken and leek pie, but that means trip to allotment so I think I'll do something else with the chicken)
Evening routine
Bedtime routine

Any space in above, and I'd like to get on with making and writing Christmas cards, and some Christmas sewing - that might be wishful thinking though Smile

swanriver · 22/11/2010 11:12

Kitchen shinier
recycling/newspapers culled
ds listening to The Beatles
dd must be ill as she's still in bed Shock

heading to playroom now with hard hat and big black bag/hoover to organise - records
books
sheet music
pjs, crumbs

swanriver · 22/11/2010 11:14

Cobwebs hope you get to sit down too, perhaps this is the time to do the sewing
v impressive list as usual
I have leeks Grin but no chicken

Ihatecobwebs · 22/11/2010 11:40

Morning

Ihatecobwebs · 22/11/2010 11:44

Sorry about double posting. Computer also got sick yesterday, so had to upgrade, reinstall etc etc. Still having a few issues it seems.

Stillconfounded · 22/11/2010 11:45

Well, I feel rather a fraud posting on here because I am breaking all the rules of Flying atm. Had to play hunt the uniform
and swimming kit in the ironing pile this am.

However managed to shake off a dreadful case of CBA just now and have cleaned kitchen, s&s-ed, put dw & wm on, hoovered downstairs, cleaned downstairs cloakroom and cleaned out gp's cage. Plus tonight's supper is ready in its constituent parts. Master bedroom next and it's a hell-hole.

Our house is old with holes in the walls and terrible drafts and no insulation (apart from double glazing on one side) and it's freezing here ....am sitting here with chattering teeth ...feeling v. demoralised ...

Nowt interesting to do but chores or work and I don't want to do either!!!

Sorry - not feeling very inspired today as you can tell! I'd better stop posting before I depress you all even more ...Grin

Mahoosive waves to everyone!

swanriver · 22/11/2010 12:06

StillConfounded go and ask William Boyd a question on Q & A, there seems to be lack of questions at moment...(that's if you'v read him Wink

cold is v.lowering. I am crouching next to a radiator. Playroom is fridge like.
