Remember Remember, Fledglings Fly through November

Welcome to the November Fledgling Flying thread.

From the 1st of the month we shall be decluttering and taming the chaos using baby steps, missions and zones. A great big thank you to MrsDinky who looked after us last month.

We are not strict followers of the fat fairy and take some of the babysteps wearing shoes indoors with a pinch of salt. Also advise against signing up for the fairy's emails.

All are welcome, jump on board for one of our three methods of chaos attack:

  1. Baby steps
  2. Baby steps and 15mins decluttering in current zone
  3. Re-inforce the baby steps and daily mission

This month the fat fairy is gearing up for the feastive period. So I shall also post the christmas mission for those who wish are brave enough to look.

In here the motto is:

*"No perfection! Do what you can, but be realistic about what you can do."

Happy flying.

Thanks DIM; I have never been able to find that before; or the way to put a 'hide thread' thing on the active convos page. Smile

feetheart · 29/10/2010 21:27

Marking thread for Monday when I start my 11th month of continuous Flying. I still (weary sigh emoticon needed!) don't have a very tidy house but it is better.
REALLY must start concentrating on decluttering though. Big push needed this month I think.

Waves and disappears off to enjoy head-banging bit of Robert Plant concert [hgrin]

DidEinsteinsMum · 31/10/2010 10:48

DIM? tut. DID if you please highlighter Grin

Hello, it's my first month and I'm hoping it'll help me become vaguely less slutty more organised at home. Just charity shopped a load of books so feeling virtuous!

DidEinsteinsMum · 31/10/2010 16:00

Welcome Geekygiraffe. I shall be back later to post the babysteps and to offer so encouragement and direction. One of the key things that the fat fairy states is that you cant clean clutter. Which we are all beginning to discover. The less clutter, the less mess accumulates. Well done on decluttering some books.

We start with the babysteps tomorrow. But due to there being different time zones it is easier if the steps are posted the night before so that no matter where you are they are available for you when you need them. I personnally find it good to know what I am planning for the next day's activity.

Hello, my house is absolute chaos so really need to join. MIL has said the nanny will leave if I don't tidy up so some serious decluttering is definitely required! I keep avoiding it by tidying up DD's doll's house as that somehow seems so much more manageable.

EnchantressNettieSpaghetti · 31/10/2010 22:35

hello geekygiraffe and mrsFromage. i love tidying up dolls house. i do this quite often with the dc kitchen, much easier than tidying my own. Grin

see you tomorrow fledgling fliers. Im going to be gunho this month (providing i can move in the morning and my back hasnt seized up entirely) Hmm

MrsDinky · 31/10/2010 23:05

Hello, am struggling with router problems and using very slow 3G connection instead, can't load the October thread anymore but am yet again behind with everything, so will be trying to Fly again tomorrow, with or without posting (actually might get a lot more done with no Internet distraction). Thank you to DID for taking over at short notice and hello to all the new people.

DidEinsteinsMum · 31/10/2010 23:31

Right a fresh start with a new month. For those of you who have done so well in previous months keep it going. For those who would like to forget various attempts at flying consider it done. For those who are joining us this month welcome.

We have three new fledglings for the start of the month: highlighter, geekygiraffe and MrsFromage.

Tomo we start with the first baby step. For those who are joining us for the first time this is where to start. It is one simple thing, shine you sink. But you have to shine it the fly way. Instructions are linked to on the website or can be found here

If it seems too easy and you wish to do more feel free to join us by decuttering for 15mins in the current zone. To break down the decluttering the flying one has divided the house into zones. This is supposed to help us focus and not tackle too many things at some and in theory so that we finish what we start. optomisticallyinsomecases I am hoping that by tomo morning the fat fairy will have updated her the flight plan with this month's zones for the month. The flight plan tells us which zone we are working on each week through the months.

For those of us who have managed to declutter there are the missions. Again I am hoping that by tomo morning the sneak peak will have been updated. The sneak peak for the week lets us get an overview for the missions for the week. Tomorrows mission should be found here although the fairy seems to have be foiled by halloween and nothing has been updated for november yet. So feel free to complain if you beat me up and onto the computer and all of the links are wrong Grin

For those of you who are feeling incredibly enthusiasic and overexcited about christmas slightly mad, the christmas missions can be found here. The theory behind this is that if you do a little bit here and a little bit there you will avoid a mad panic just before christmas and thus be more able to enjoy christmas. If you just cant face the though of christmas yet this is completely optional so feel free to ignore.

As I need reminding constantly this is not about perfection so dont be put off by the size of people's lists. just be realistic and see what you can achieve. Progress is progress no matter how small.

Now who wants to takes bets that I have managed to screw up the links Grin.

feetheart · 01/11/2010 12:10

Right, 1st of the month and this time I am going to FLY :)
I am really going to try and do my morning and evening routines properly, go to bed between 10-10.30pm and do the Mission everyday. I have to try and do this Flying lark properly if I am to get anywhere.

Started off well this morning as a nice young man came and cleaned our hideously filthy sofa. I was going to clean the carpet to match but sofa (and surrounding floor) rather soggy so will do that tomorrow.
I have also made Hedgerow Jelly with huge quantities of berries we seemed to have picked on a walk on Saturday, and I've tidied up after myself so not bad so far!

Still to do:

  • Work - monthly invoices
  • Finish Morning routine Blush
  • Get Felafels out of freezer and make mint/yoghurt dip for dinner
  • Major 'put-everything-back-where-it-belongs-after-half-term' stint. 15mins to start with.
  • Mission
  • 15mins in DD's hellhole room

That will do to start with. Just need to get on and do it now.

BobLoblaw · 01/11/2010 13:09

Been at school with dd this morning but I managed to make all ths beds, do the breakfast washing up, clean the bathroom and put the washing machine on before we left, then dd unplugged her feeding tube and covered the sofa in sticky milk so we still ran late.

Today
-Morning routine done
-Clean front door
-Sweep ramp
-Load of washing done
-Hot spots in dc room done
-15 mins declutter in dining room
-Make dinner done

Ooh feet I didn't know you can get someone to do that, mine really needs it, was it expensive?

Nettie ds is counting down too, was the first thing he said to me this morning :) I am very excited.

Waves to everyone, hope you're having a nice day :) it's lovely here

swanriver · 01/11/2010 13:09
