Welcome to the November Fledgling Flying thread.

From the 1st of the month we shall be decluttering and taming the chaos using baby steps, missions and zones. A great big thank you to MrsDinky who looked after us last month.

We are not strict followers of the fat fairy and take some of the babysteps wearing shoes indoors with a pinch of salt. Also advise against signing up for the fairy's emails.

All are welcome, jump on board for one of our three methods of chaos attack:

  1. Baby steps
  2. Baby steps and 15mins decluttering in current zone
  3. Re-inforce the baby steps and daily mission

This month the fat fairy is gearing up for the feastive period. So I shall also post the christmas mission for those who wish are brave enough to look.

In here the motto is:

*"No perfection! Do what you can, but be realistic about what you can do."

Happy flying.

Have just had an email from PA saying the surgey was successful and that she is home again now, which is great.

Back later.

MiniMarmite · 16/11/2010 18:55

Thanks for the update MrsD, glad you are home and all is well PA x

elliepac · 16/11/2010 20:29

Evening all,

Not much achieved today. Didn't get back from work until 6 and then straight out again for DNephew's 18th bday meal. Just got in now. Have managed to put a washload on and I did manage morning routine this morning along with washing in drier.

mrsd thanks for the update on pa, if you are lurking pa, glad to hear it went well and that you are home xx

bob have posted on the other thread but hope things are still stable and that you are looking after yourself as well.

sylvia how did it go?

Better go and put some washing on....back later...maybe.

MrsDinky · 16/11/2010 21:12

Evening all,

Well, got the gardening done, just planting wallflowers and pansies in pots but they have been waiting for about 3 weeks. The compost was frozen, cue frozen hands, but at least it's done. Managed a mini-blitz on the kitchen, 2 lots of washing and the tennis/ballet run after school.

I was feeling pretty miserable this morning, what with DS and his problems at school, and thinking about Bob, PA and also one of my uncles is seriously ill. So I popped into church on my way home from town (I'm an intermittent attendee) and had a quiet 10 mins there on my own, it really helped.

So, more positive thoughts coming your way Bob and PA, and I'm going to leave it at that for tonight.

optimisticmumma · 16/11/2010 21:42

Evening all. Glad to hear all is well PA - thanks for keeping us updated mrsD. Hope all is improving Bob.

Got mortgage application done - pleased with myself as I hate paperwork and just procrastinate! Been to DS1 Parents' eve - bit of a waste of time as he has his UCAS in already (he's got one offer so far so relief all round..)Online Tesco done but not very well as I have to keep adding stuff! Bit worried about myself washing machine - talking of laundry - only a few months old but the computerised display keeps 'crashing' . I can see hassle ahead..

See you all tomorrow...x

swanriver · 16/11/2010 22:31

Did everythng on list Smile
house a bit tidier
dh not in good mood though as it meant I didn't have children ready for bed, not did I put any salt in the meatballs Shock

now a bit fed up and have gone to bed!
And I haven't checked tomorrow's uniforms, but I have tidied our room and put out my clothes for tomorrow

Glad you are safe PA
waves to everyone

DidEinsteinsMum · 16/11/2010 23:51

Am shattered. Been a long day. Good news and bad here. Little but some flying.

Will just do links for tonight. Must be on time to school tomo.

reminders

Cant do this babystep if you dont get flylady emails so can be ignored Grin

missions

christmas missions

Good flying all!

OP posts:
systemsaddict · 17/11/2010 06:36

Plus side: children slept; dishwasher filled and emptied. Minus side: house trashed; feel angry and overwhelmed. Plan: do one tidying thing a day to avoid slumping into deep hole. My babysteps can get pretty tiny at times.

feetheart · 17/11/2010 09:34

Bob - you are all still in my thoughts

systemsaddict - tiny steps are still steps in the right direction.
I fully understand that feeling of being overwhelmed by it all but it does get better, promise. Case in point - been poorly for a week and bogged down by getting a mountain of stuff sorted for the Inland Revenue, house has been abandoned and has definitely descended into chaos. Took 30 mins out yesterday to sweep and mop kitchen floor and hoover hall and stairs - cue house feeling more manageable, wish could deal with IR as easily Hmm
Has taken me 10mths to get this far so don't despair.

List for today:

  • Morning routine
  • Real WORK (ie not IR) as really need to catch up there too!
  • Asda to buy white t-shirt to paint for DD for Children in Need (half done ones for DS and his best friend who is 5 on Friday - have '5 Today' on hers as well as spots!)
  • Chicken pie filling and pastry and if cold enough complete pie to have for dinner, if not think of something else!
  • More painting of spots on t-shirts
  • Retrieve black trousers from friend for funeral on Friday
  • Anything else will be a bonus

Waves at everyone not mentioned :)

highlighterpen · 17/11/2010 09:35

Hi all,
Thinking about bob and her family.

FLYing still going well though missed the mission yesterday will do it today. House looks great (mostly) presents wrapped for Christmas.
Booked dentist for whole family (!) That will be a fun morning out.
Sorted out diary (got family planner for next year and written birthdays in)
Washing is on
Beds will be changed later
Need to sweep dining room and wash kitchen / dining room floor
Make broccoli and cauli cheese for dinner

Also got to do some work work.

See you all later.

Hope you are OK DID

MrsDinky · 17/11/2010 09:41

Ooh, we're all doing the same things.

Highlighterpen - I have had my new family planner for two months and finally got round to filling it all in for next year last night.

Feetheart - we sacrificed a couple of stained polo shirts for spotting for Children in Need Day.

I also need to sweep and clean kitchen floor, do tidying, sort out some bills and, oh the list goes on.

Bob - still thinking of you and your family today

DEM - hope you're OK

Systems - don't worry, I think we all get times likes this. If all else fails, I try and keep swish and swipe going, plus one load of washing a day and the odd hotspot, I think that is enough to make quite a difference.

DidEinsteinsMum · 17/11/2010 09:55

Am ok but very tired spending today catching up on sleep in an attempt to be able to be more productive tomo. The news is regarding my nan who is getting old and frail. Her memory and condition is almost as bad as i feared but not quite. She is well looked after and has a fab social life in her nursing home. But have been told she might be alive for visiting in the summer and need to go sooner rather then later. Its hard as you cant take children out of school and as she is in a different country it isnt a simple case of popping over to visit.

systems the only way to eat an elephant is one piece at a time. tackling a house one small thing at a time sounds like the best plan and totally fits with the priniciples of babystep. The fat on said it took her a couple of months just to be in the habit of shiney her sink every day. Dont worry every little bit is a step in the right direction. You will get there. Just be realistic as it will take time.

MrsD yesterday was not that good here; I am a regular churchgoer, yet it didn't once occur to me to just take some time to think things over ifyswim, you put me to shame, and today I think prayer may be needed!!!

loosinas · 17/11/2010 10:12

crikey..... i seem to move one sfep forward and 53 back....... i need to move my lard ass but i have zero motivation on this cold dark day :(

SylviaPankhurst · 17/11/2010 11:06

Thanks stillconfounded and Ellie. When I came out I thought it went well but then thinking it over nightmare was too honest perhaps?

Anyway it is a job I would love and I know I would be good at it so if they say no it will be their loss. If I havent heard anything by the weekend then I wont have got it. :(

Need to get back to flying and get a grip in the next few days as things are slowly coming out of routine this week.

I am not making a list till later or even not until tomorrow!

Ihatecobwebs · 17/11/2010 11:37

Hi

Quick note, as need to get ready to pick up DS from playgroup, then walk to friend's for lunch and play. Limited everything done this morning, as I have got a grotty cold that DS has "kindly" given me and DH, and DS decided that he "want company" early this morning and ended up in our bed. Need to work on that somehow, as he's going to make this a habit if he can (and DH doesn't sleep with a fidgety toddler in the bed).

Done
Morning routine
DS to playgroup
Collect brocolli from allotment
Clean washing away
Wet washing on airer by Aga
Washing in machine ready for tonight
Cook tea
Place Baker Ross order, for toddler group and us (took far too long as its like a sweety shop in that website Smile)
Make beds
S/s
Washup

To Do
Get ready to go out
Collect DS and go round to friends
Menu plan
Clean fridge
Shopping list for tomorrow
Mending
Hotspot
Filing
Shredding
Playgroup paperwork
WI paperwork
Clean cat bowls
Tea in oven
Wash up
Evening routine

Later, ladies Smile

loosinas · 17/11/2010 12:21

i might have a happy guinea pig but i was not a happy lady to find that during the time i was scrubbing her cage she was pooping and weeing all over my floor Angry

Toffeefudgecake · 17/11/2010 12:36

So glad to hear that PA is out of hospital and that the op was successful Grin. Hope you are resting, PA.

Asked DH to tidy the kitchen for me, but he said he was too tired Hmm. Feeling very tired today and hoping I can fit a nap into the above list, even if it's just 15mins.

Back later.

Stillconfounded · 17/11/2010 13:48

Bob still thinking of you and hoping things are going better x

PA hope you are resting in bed and NOT lifting a finger in the house, take it steady!

Here's hoping you get good news before the w/e Sylvia

Hope your cold clears up soon Ihate

Toffee your list puts me to shame

Sorry to hear your granny's health is failing DID/DEM especially hard when you are in different countries

MrsD and Feetheart that is very sound advice which I need to follow today. Whole house is in chaos again and I just need to stop ineffectually faffing around and do the basics!!

Systems mini baby steps are good!

Mini I hope miniMini is allowing you a bit of sleep at night Smile

Ooh another gp owner! Fantastic Loosinas I am besotted with mine. It is true however, that all they do is wee, poo, eat and drink (and mine occasionally warble of an evening if they are in a good mood). Lovely, individual characters though.

Waves to Swan Optimistic Ellie Dolanette Highlighter Linzer PurpleW Darts and loads of others I have forgotten!

My flying achievements this week despite my best intentions have been pitiful. The only good side is that we have all been so busy we've hardly been at home so at least the ground floor is looking reasonable.

Must go - ballet run calls ...

DidEinsteinsMum · 17/11/2010 14:59

house looks like a bombsite but feel slightly more human for having napped.

PositiveAttitude · 17/11/2010 15:17

Massive waves to everyone. Grin

Thank you all for all the lovely messages and the card from MrsD.

if you want to read how it all went, there's a fuller update here (Wed 17-Nov-10 09:43:50)

Sorry, no energy to tap out a long message. I am certainly having to do nothing, just standing up sends my head spinning. Maybe in a few days I will be able to do a proper catch up. Must just send to Bob.

House is wonderfully clean and tidy thanks to my OCD DH! Wink

I am sure I will be back amongst you again soon. Grin

highlighterpen · 17/11/2010 15:48

Hi PA great to see you and sorry to hear of your post-op drama Shock. Glad they treated you well and you are back home recovering.

Finally got down to it and had a very successful afternoon - course written and I am pleased with it. Sheets in the dryer. DH home but poorly. DTs had a lovely time with Granny who has been here all day but has just gone home.

Off to cook tea Smile.
