Remember Remember, Fledglings Fly through November

Welcome to the November Fledgling Flying thread.

From the 1st of the month we shall be decluttering and taming the chaos using baby steps, missions and zones. A great big thank you to MrsDinky who looked after us last month.

We are not strict followers of the fat fairy and take some of the babysteps wearing shoes indoors with a pinch of salt. Also advise against signing up for the fairy's emails.

All are welcome, jump on board for one of our three methods of chaos attack:

  1. Baby steps
  2. Baby steps and 15mins decluttering in current zone
  3. Re-inforce the baby steps and daily mission

This month the fat fairy is gearing up for the feastive period. So I shall also post the christmas mission for those who wish are brave enough to look.

In here the motto is:

*"No perfection! Do what you can, but be realistic about what you can do."

Happy flying.

MrsDinky · 14/11/2010 21:12

Evening all,

Well, after a week of total slacking on the Flying front, things have improved here today. DH did a fairly major tidy up of the front room this morning and has promised to do the dishes tonight. He laso took the DCs out for half an hour on foot so I could shift all the Christmas presents that I have been hiding in both the car boots up to the loft unseen.

In the meantime I have done 3 loads of washing, an hour of ironing, lots of play with the DCs, cooking, swish and swipe, weekly nit comb of the DCs, and spent an hour sorting through photos on the computer. I am making some photobooks of the DCs for their Christmas, but it is taking a lot of sifting. They might end up as birthday presents in Jan and Feb instead. The plan is to do retrospective ones of their lives so far this year, and then do one each year for their birthdays.

Going to get off the computer now, catch up tomorrow.

optimisticmumma · 14/11/2010 21:19

Congratulations Minimarmite!!SmileSmileSmile
Great idea MrsD - thanks for doing that.
Had a very unflying sort of weekend as DH and I were at Twickenham watching the rugby!! How fab was that?
Today DH has gone to Greece for work and won't be back til next weekend. Hope to catch up with all the routines and flying tomorrow.

off to watch 'I'm a celeb..' with my DC who seem to have been glued to the telly all afternoon...oh well...

pushmepullyou · 14/11/2010 21:40

Yey MiniM Congratulations!!!! I am a bit jealous tbh Grin. I am not on your Facebook but have PM'd you my details as would love to see the photos Smile. Appreciate you are probably a bit busy though!!

MrsD a card would be a great idea. I have been wondering how PA is. I have had a much better day flyingwise today as well and have managed to properly catch up with the kitchen, which is a big relief!

Bob poor DD, and poor you Sad. I hope you are both feeling better now.

Hello to SC swan, nettie, OM et al. How sad is it that I am genuinely excited to find out which room Flylady has in store for us tomorrow?

Toffeefudgecake · 14/11/2010 23:07

MiniM - what fantastic news! Congratulations! Sorry to hear the birth was early and not straightforward, but glad it's all over for you now and you're back home safely with your newborn Grin.

MrsD - the card for PA is a wonderful idea.

Bob - sorry to hear your daughter is still ill. Do hope she feels better soon and that you don't catch it. You must be exhausted, you poor thing.

DS2's pizza-making party is over, at last. I spent the morning frantically getting ready (hadn't done as much as I hoped yesterday), which involved dumping an awful lot of stuff in our bedroom, which now looks even worse than before Sad. I was really anxious, but the party seemed to go well and the pizzas turned out fine. The children looked sweet in their mini chefs hats. DS2 was so happy throughout - it was lovely to see. He really seemed to enjoy all of it.

Just going to finish evening routine, then back to normal flying routine tomorrow.

Waves to all.

DidEinsteinsMum · 14/11/2010 23:59

Right then. I have been a bit omiss with the round ups. And you have all been ever so chatty and productive. Here goes.

MiniM has a gorgous new ds to squish and cuddle. There is no newborn envy here. Nope none at all HmmGrin CONGRATULATIONS!!!!!!

Nettie is wearing her christmas name and has gone on holiday. Discovered the normal M6 nightmare and survived the dirsuption to routine effect on sleep. Currently flying for her olds and hopefully having a lovely time.

Linzer has been desperatly trying to get her book read for book club.

Bob's dd has been keeping her on her toes and has been quite poorly this weekend. Hope she improves. Her Ds has been an absolute star for her. Well done ds!

Sitting has been productively flying and managed to temporarily empty her ironing basket. Envy

Toffee has been looking after her MIL (hows her recovery going?) and has been trying to simulataneously fly, work and party plan [mad woman] How did the party go in the end?

highlighter has been working very hard at her flying and get star flyer due to her motivation to get a complete grasp on the system. Thank you to all who have answered her questions so well.

Swan has been trying to post achievable lists

systems has been getting a grasp on adapting the system to suit her life and routine in the morning and productively flying last week.

Ihate has more energy then i even know how to muster to read her lists. Prodcutively flying

Dolanette is still with us and has been making very good progress on the babysteps. Dont worry if you dont get them this time I am repeating the babysteps and declutter for the time. It will come, keep going and do it again next month.

OM has had a few glips this week but has been flying and chatting again. So good to have you back chatting OM.

Sylvia Has been gently flying away but is refusing to consider the concept of christmas names until at least the 1st of Dec.

SC has managed to declutter the playroom and is flying with the aim to reduce the clutter in preparation for more clutter arriving shortly. Grin It is fun watching the little faces light up when they open the clutter though. You have to admit that that aspect makes it a bit worth it.

MrsD has been having a bit of tough week which has impacted on her flying and has been back the last few days being scarily organised. I hope that you can get ds sorted for the help he needs.

Feetheart snuck back in after taking a few days to allow herself to be ill. No shame in not flying due to illness. It happens and is just part of life. Since being back she has been being busy.

loosinas has been getting help with getting started from many wise flegdlings and has actually found a point to start. The hardest thign imo.

Purple has found returning to work has impacted on her time to keep up with the thread but has been trying to keep on top of the basics wrt flying.

PMPY has been really busy with rl.

Many of the fledglings have had family fun time this weekend.

Waves at anyone she has forgotten. Wonders what happened to Darts?

CONGRATULATIONS MINIMARMITE and all the Marmite clan, wonderful news GrinGrinGrinGrin

Bob - hope you are both better now and have managed some sleep.

Toffee - glad the party went well. Must admit I'm not brave enough to have one at home, hence Church Hall last week :)

DEM - fantastic round-up

Very quiet w/e here as I still wasn't 100% and DH was laid up with the same thing. However did manage to buy Christmas cards on Saturday and make big roast dinner yesterday. Here's hoping for a more productive, less sicky week this week.

Quick list then bath before waking the hordes:

  • Morning routine
  • Notices up at school (Ofsted in this week and School Assoc stuff on view will help show they are working with the community)
  • Stuff for IR - must finish today and post as due in by Thursday

Anything else will be a bonus, will post additional list if I get the above done.

Happy Flying :)

Stillconfounded · 15/11/2010 08:32

My list for the week ahead is so long, and I am so behind, that I am not even going to attempt to write it out here. (It will only fit in to a separate word doc!!) Definitely more of an overhaul than a blessing required.

Have a productive start to the week everyone!

SylviaPankhurst · 15/11/2010 10:00

bob hope all is better today it sounds really hard and I know when mine were very little my XDh was always away.

So Christmas shopping nearly complete and all cards bought! I am now going to buy paper and do as the great fly lady bids and wrap a few presents every day rather than all at once with a headache and a panic attack.

We had a good day and I took DS and youngest DD (who is 11) and had coffee together so a little time out. Many of you have young ones so rest assured it gets better and better as they get older and ds took all my shopping and carried it.

Ihatecobwebs · 15/11/2010 14:33

Hi, back after a busy weekend, and am shattered. We unloaded the car last night, but nothing got put away, so my living room, kitchen and porch have boxes, models etc etc all over them still. Have told DH that he really needs to put them away tonight, as DS has a friend coming over to play tomorrow afternoon!

No flying this morning (at least in this house).
Collectd DS from dmum and took him to playgroup.
Went to dr's for appointment.
Went to dmum's to help her sort stuff out. (When she moved up here a couple of years ago, she brought loads of my father's things, and is now feeling able to go through them and get rid of things, eg 40 (yes 40) years worth of monthly magazines Shock.
Collected DS
Now, have eaten lunch and set DS up for part of the afternoon so:

To do -
Washing up
Clean laundry away
Load washing machine
Bins
Recycling
WHBH
Zone mission
15 min zone cleaning
Paper file item
Computer finance
Cook tea
Evening routine
Take apart LARGE cardboard boxes, not required now, and stuff them into recycling boxes
Cat tray
Cat bowls
Baker Ross order - for toddler Christmas party
Move spare jars into shed
5 min room rescue kitchen
5 min room rescue living room
Pay bills
Playgroup paperwork

Before I get down to that lot, must just say I saw a very scary sight yesterday - outside of house decked out in full multicoloured flashing Christmas lights Shock

DancingIceDragons · 15/11/2010 15:00

Not much updated but i feel really rough today. the last week or so of not sleeping well has caught up with me so adding to list 30min nap before getting ds.

DancingIceDragons · 15/11/2010 15:12

I hope bob wont mind but she could really use some positive thoughts right now for her dd

pushmepullyou · 15/11/2010 15:50

Poor bob I can't imagine how terrified she must be Sad. I posted on her thread a bit earlier. I hope they are managing to get her DD stabilised.
