Morning!!!! The least productive weekend ever. After a very late night on Friday, DH and I did sweet FA pretty much for two days. Bed at 8.30 last night, asleep almost straight away.... All worth it though, got to meet none other than the really gorgeous (and hugely enormous) Steve Redgrave. Gosh, he is really rather majestic.

Anyway, snap out of it now, back to the real world.

Welcome to PurpleA and I'maslattern.

Today

I won't be able to do the same everyday, I'm afraid. I have a child free (till 1pm), no school run, appointment free day today so I am making the most of it. Will be slowing down the rest of the week.

But I am hoping this will give me the impeteus to carry on even if I only manage an hour a day.

anonymousbird · 27/09/2010 10:48

You're amazing Imaslattern.
I'll get off my arse now, I feel Blush at your level of productivity!!!

PS. How do you bold all those words? Do you have to go word by word, or do you have a quicker way of doing it????

Sorry about reposting my list again and again but it is keeping me going and motivated.

Anon, I just put a star at each end of the sentance. But they need redoing everytime I copy the list.

Lexilicious · 27/09/2010 11:22

I am new here. Are these lists you people are writing your tasks for just one day [terrified] or ongoing for, say, a week? [slightly less terrified]. I am having a day off work, am usually out of the house 8-6.

So far today I have:
had a small row with DH about the 'f-king shit-tip' we have let the house get into (we are in the middle of a building project and have no kitchen.
cleared the table on which our temporary kitchenette sits in the living room.
put books into display cabinets which were piled on sofa
had toast.

TO DO
move massive pile of cushions from sofa to a cupboard in DS room
washing up
90 degree machine cleaning wash
short wash with stain remover
main wash
sheets and tablecloth wash (unlikely as have no TD, and it's a damp day)
meet Project Manager at 1215.
be in for oven delivery 1200-1600
wipe/wet-dust surfaces in living room
bring in garden table as second 'kitchen' surface in living room. clean it.
hoover
Plant bulbs
put canes for horticultural fleece around brassica/onion bed.
Make up new kitchen base cabinet for builders to install sink in (19 stone plasterer fell on the old one so it is bent in two and very wobbly. doing the washing up is like working in an earthquake.)
collect baby from nursery at 1730.
cook something (god knows what)
baby bath and bed
make our bed
have a calming shower
drink wine.

is that the right sort of list for this topic?
Confused

anonymousbird · 27/09/2010 11:34

Hi Lexi!
Your list can be whatever you want it to be. I have a "today/tomorrow" type list and an "ongoing" ie. stuff to do in the next days/weeks that is less urgent, but I need constantly reminding of!!!

Welcome, and good luck.

PS. I am about to embark on a big build - can't live in though, I don't think, though as cannot currently find somewhere to rent, I might have no choice! How is it going? How long are you without a kitchen for example?

OP posts:
Lexilicious · 27/09/2010 11:52

aw thanks for the welcome!

we have a house extensions support thread over in the property section - loads of tips from selecting architects to choosing splashbacks. come and ask anything.

I've been sans kitchen for two weeks and the new units will arrive on Oct 15th. but as we want a granite worktop it will take at least a week after the units are in, probably two, as they have to make a template and then cut the pieces and come back for fitting.

ok, I have started the maintenance wash and brought in a table. 20 mins till builder bloke arrives.

master bedroom was going to tackle the floor but I had to go into the airing cupboard to switch something and loads fell out so decided to tackle that. Found tons of bedding, clothes, tableclothes, curtains and assorted junk in boxes that were shoved in there and forgotten when we moved in 2 years ago. Some have joined the washing pile, some recycle, some church fete. There is one humungeous box left in there now to sort

My list:

Drop off curtain material at curtain makers
Water plants (leave it a day and they wither and die)

I've sort of made a start (I'm 3 hrs ahead of GMT)

Wordsonascreen · 27/09/2010 13:34

And to answer the question what sort of day am I having I walked straight into a glass window thinking it was the door in front of about 150 parents in the schools main reception (its a MAHOOSIVE school)
(I'd forgotten I had my sunglasses on and was distracted)

Oh well I guess thats all my non existant street cred and cool dissapeared in the 10 seconds I yelled shit and saw stars then legged it.

I now have a charming bruise and a headache (wine is not helping)
