I am increasingly pleased by Emma Bridgewater’s things of beauty. The older I get the greater my obsession is becoming. Even my OH covets a few pieces, especially the Game Birds items (no that isn’t a euphemism 😬).

I’m surely not on my own. Are you an avid collector? What’s your favourite piece? I struggle to choose a favourite but currently I’m enjoying tea made in this beauty (attached)

Let’s see yours 😍

(Not sure if I’ve posted in the right topic, perhaps Mumsnet ought to have a Things of Beauty Board 🙏)

@whoslaughingnow73 The pink hearts are great and go with many of the other ‘pinks’. Looking on EB they are currently sold out.

I don't do pink but I love the blue stars, bees, black and white toast , Robins and flowers.
I didn't get a forget me not mug which I really like the look of. Sold out :(

TheRealHousewife · 02/08/2021 12:57

@whoslaughingnow73 They had a 4 cup one available in seconds. I often buy the seconds as you can’t usually tell what the flaw is and imho they are very good.

The blues are great @Mrs08. I particularly like the Stars. How disappointing for you about the forget me not mug. Have you seen the cornflower one. Very nice it is!

I used to collect the giant teacups but they changed the shape/stopped doing them.

I think the cornflower might be my next purchase:)
And the tulips 🌷

Wow they are lovely
EvilHerbivore · 02/08/2021 13:07

I would love the mug with Staffies on for a very dear colleague but I cannot find one anywhere. Any places I should be looking?

Mrs08 · 02/08/2021 13:17

Ebay, John Lewis?

RagamuffinCat · 02/08/2021 13:19

I love their products, but they are a pain to deal with if an item arrives damaged. I emailed them about a damaged item, waited two weeks for a response. At that point I decided to just post it back using the form enclosed in their parcel, which had no information about what to do if an item arrived damaged, but had to pay return postage. When I finally got hold of someone, they said they couldn't refund the postage I paid, as I should have waited (more than two weeks) for a response and they could have given me a form to cover postage. They offered me a gift voucher to cover the postage I had paid for the faulty item, but I wasn't planning on buying anything else, so it was no use to me. It has been a hassle to sort out, and I'm now less than impressed with the company. It is easy to be a good company when things go well, but how they deal with you when there is a problem tells me more.

SoupDragon · 02/08/2021 13:35

but they are a pain to deal with if an item arrives damaged.

Interestingly, I had no problem whatsoever when I complained in January (probably) about poor quality. They refunded me too and told me to keep the item.

RagamuffinCat · 02/08/2021 13:58

Wow that would have been a lot easier!

QuantumWeatherButterfly · 02/08/2021 14:31

My DD, who is 6, has an Emma Bridgewater play teaset in pink hearts. It's melamine (so light, and indestructible), and comes in an adorable box shaped like a house. I think I love it more than she does!

TheRealHousewife · 02/08/2021 14:38

@SoupDragon 😍 Cor what lovely mugs you’ve got!

@Mrs08 Great choice 👍

@EvilHerbivore I’m informed you can get secondhand via eBay and fb. You could have a peek in those markets.

@RagamuffinCat I’m surprised tbh. It must have been frustrating for you at the time. Was it recently? Not blaming covid but I know it disrupted their service at times.

@SoupDragon that was my experience too. Although the item had to be binned with it being glass.

@QuantumWeatherButterfly if I’d age appropriate children or grandchildren I’d have bought one of those too. They are so very lovely! They did a bumble bee version and I’m sure it was pottery (rather than melamine).

@RagamuffinCat

Wow that would have been a lot easier!
I didn't even ask for anything - just said how disappointed I was with the quality! It was a cat jar where the lid didn't fit properly.
SoupDragon · 02/08/2021 14:48

Cor what lovely mugs you’ve got!

I have superb jugs too 🤣

TheRealHousewife · 02/08/2021 14:49

@SoupDragon 🤣🤣🤣

I have bought a huge amount from them before, so was surprised to be honest. I finally managed to get them to agree to refund the postage today, but it has been going on for several weeks now. It could be that they are short staffed from covid, but their attitude was not great and it has put me off.

Chiffandbip · 02/08/2021 14:56

Oooh my tribe! 🙋‍♀️
Waiting on my doorstep today will be an EB heart kettle by Russell Hobbs. I’ve wanted it for ages and my Dad gave me £100 for my birthday so I got that and am going to order an EB round metal tray with handles!

TheRealHousewife · 02/08/2021 15:13

@RagamuffinCat I totally get it. Once the love bubble bursts there is no putting the genie back in the bottle.

@SoupDragon you are so brave to play Jenga in the cupboard with EB cups 😂😬

@Chiffandbip I bet you can’t wait until you get home for the grand unboxing! Are you brave enough to post pics? Are you like me any save all the boxes?

OP posts:
TheRealHousewife · 02/08/2021 15:13

@Chiffandbip I forget to post Happy Birthday 🥳

altiara · 02/08/2021 15:52

I’m glad you set this up, if I’d set it up it would been called addiction to polka dots!

TheRealHousewife · 02/08/2021 16:49

@altiara the polka dots are so cool. If I remember correctly Polka Dots is THE iconic EB pattern as it was the very first release. I’m sure someone will be along to say if that’s incorrect. I have a couple of small plates, a large cup & saucer and a tray 😬. My collection is quite eclectic.

SoupDragon · 02/08/2021 17:16

The cups are safe as I don't use them any more 🙂

starofwonder · 02/08/2021 17:54

I don't have much EB though I do covet some bits, but I always have my tea in a giant EB pint mug. No one else in this house would dare to use it!
