For those whose DC have submitted their UCAS application without having yet taken the A-level (or equivalent) exams…

How are your DC getting on with hearing back from the universities?

That great news. Well done to your DC and good luck with the Manchester offer.
My DC is waiting on Imperial and LSE. Imperial should make contact before the end of April and no idea with LSE. There have been lots of offers and rejections from LSE for all courses including the one they applied to. I hope they hear soon.

I can imagine how tense you all are waiting for those notifications. The process seems incredibly cruel and protracted, but I’m not sure I see a better or less stressful way to do it. Fingers crossed your DC hears very soon!

JustHereWithMyPopcorn · 27/02/2026 15:01

Finally heard back from Imperial. As suspected its a no. DS went to the OHD for Bath last weekend and had already made his mind up that was his firm so he isn't disappointed. That's all his offers now so he can firm when he likes.

Llangewydd57 · 27/02/2026 15:41

Sorry to hear Imperial was a no @JustHereWithMyPopcorn but fantastic that your DC has the other four and can now start making plans. Bath is fab and a great city. Was this for Engineering…I can’t remember?

JustHereWithMyPopcorn · 27/02/2026 16:34

@Llangewydd57 thank you, luckily he really is not sad about it but was just hanging on to see what they said. He’s doing a masters in Chemistry with drug discovery with a year in industry - assuming all goes well with exams!

That sounds amazing. Good luck for the upcoming A-Levels.
My DC is still waiting on Imperial. Be glad when they know so that they can firm offers.

Ds had an email from Newcastle to say there were going to be slight changes to the course structure but he has still not actually had an offer from them. I think he is now getting a bit fed up! We expected Durham to be slow, well in reality to reject but still nothing from them either. I wish they would hurry up now....

Fingers crossed for your DC, hopefully they’ll get the offer from Imperial soon. 🤞🤞

What course are you waiting for?

Suffolker · 27/02/2026 18:44

Still waiting for Edinburgh here (geography). Dd applied over three months ago, I just don’t understand how out can take them so long. She’s pretty much ruled it out now but it would be nice to know one way or another.

mumonthehill · 27/02/2026 19:02

@Wehaditsogood environmental science.

My DD got her offer today from Edinburgh (Religious Studies, can't think of the exact course name) so hopefully your DD will hear soon.

HeyAunty · 01/03/2026 21:15

Anyone waiting for Law with KCL or International Relations with LSE?

Dery · 02/03/2026 14:22

@Suffolker - my elder daughter is at Edinburgh and my younger is studying elsewhere but applied to Edinburgh. I know it makes some early offers but neither of my daughters heard until mid-March which is pretty typical for Edinburgh, i think. Elder DD loves it. Younger DD insured Edinburgh but preferred another uni for course-based reasons.

I really have no business being on this thread now as we are done and dusted but this was us with younger DD last year and it has been interesting seeing how people are getting on this year.

Thanks for insight, we are waiting to here from Edinburgh! Fingers crossed!

Jeezitshard · 02/03/2026 15:37

DD has had offers from Newcastle, Leeds, Southampton, Cardiff and Aston. Newcastle is her first choice - thinks Aston is going to be her insurance. Just got to get the grades now. She's working so hard and should be fine with Chemistry and Biology for getting As but needs B for maths is so far working at a C.

Thanks @Dery. I had heard they were often late but it feels like a very long wait (particularly knowing others had offers ages ago).

Both DH and I are Edinburgh graduates and loved our time there, but for a few reasons I’m not sure it will be the right fit for DD (much as I’d love an excuse for visiting!)

SyntheticFluff · 02/03/2026 21:21

Just jumping on to ask if any of the Edinburgh hopefuls have heard anything, particularly in Humanities? Dd has grades in hand and is waiting to hear re a language degree.

Edit: sorry, just realised the latest posts are only just from today!

Three years ago one of our DC, also with grades in hand, didn't hear from Edinburgh until late March. It's frustrating but Scottish universities have budgetary constraints that mean they cannot fill all their places for Scottish and Home students until quite late in the cycle.

Ventress · 03/03/2026 07:42

My nephew has had Edinburgh as one of his 5- got it it in October. Was micro bionics I think. Also has Manchester, Liverpool and a few others. Hasn’t bothered visiting any though as he’s got a firm offer for Harvard.

@SyntheticFluff my DS applied for languages and heard back at beginning of November. We were shocked as to how quickly the offer came through as they are renowned for being so late!

Valleysaurus · 04/03/2026 16:35

CatkinToadflax · 19/02/2026 07:04

DS has heard from everywhere except Exeter - typical as that’s currently his first choice! They contacted him a month ago to ask for more info as they’d identified he may be eligible for a contextual offer. He sent his response straight back, but he’s heard nothing since. A little frustrating and he’d love to get an offer and get booked in for an OHD! Fingers crossed he gets one.

Our daughter is in the same boat with Exeter.

DS finally heard on Friday. I hope your DD hears soon.

Llangewydd57 · 05/03/2026 19:04

Imperial offer for Maths. DC very pleased but has decided that it may not be for them as lots of accommodation in year 1 is in Acton-a 40 min commute on the tube according to their website 🙄
