2026 UCAS - Offers, Rejections and Waiting to Hear

For those whose DC have submitted their UCAS application without having yet taken the A-level (or equivalent) exams…

How are your DC getting on with hearing back from the universities?

DD didn’t get into LSE. She’s still waiting for Kings, which is her fave by far. She’s got offers from others, but holding out for KCL.

She put her application in mid December and her first offer came through Boxing Day night.

Anyone still waiting for London unis? DD has applied to UCL and KCL- she's desperate to be in London and has offers from all her other unis but nothing from these two. She applied in Jan (literally on the closing date!) if that makes a difference.

DS had KCL & QML pretty soon after his October application. He’s also got an offer from Edinburgh. He’s waiting for LSE and UCL though. This is for Politics.

Gosh, that was quick. Still waiting to hear from LSE here and Imperial. Applied back in October. What is your DC’s subject?

Ceramiq · 24/02/2026 09:34

LSE is inundated with applications and notoriously slow to reply, even for international students (some universities are pretty quick to get back to international students and much slower for home students).

Anyone still waiting for Warwick Economics? My DC applied in October. Thanks!

I can’t recall the exact course, but politics and (I think) international relations.

denialandpanic · 24/02/2026 17:38

Ceramiq · 20/02/2026 15:34

I would be wary. The attempt to foist Liberal Arts degrees onto applicants who requested other courses is about filling up undersubscribed courses. The probability of getting the exact modules a student wants is unclear.

This is what we concluded.

DS applied for MORSE at Warwick in October and got an offer within a couple of weeks.

Llangewydd57 · 24/02/2026 20:38

@unife I haven’t seen any mention of offers for Econ at Warwick. My DC hasn’t heard of anyone getting an offer yet either for that subject.

Anjo2011 · 24/02/2026 20:53

After last weeks rejection from York for Law my DD was offered her 2nd choice of Nottingham so she’s very happy. York did offer her History as an alternative ( which she previously had considered) but she happy to be able to do her chosen option. To everyone still waiting I hope your loved ones get good news soon.

Llangewydd57 · 24/02/2026 22:28

Congrats to your DD on getting Nottingham @Anjo2011

Has anyone heard when UCL offer holder day for Maths is/is there one?

BoxFoxes · 26/02/2026 20:10

Dd and others in the year heard from Bath today. All rejections! All had higher predicted grades than what they were asking. Even the 4 A stars were rejected.

What courses was this for?

Some at Bath are incredibly over subscribed and they go heavily on the personal statement (my son has done outreach there..)

BoxFoxes · 26/02/2026 20:42

A wide variety but Mostly STEM. Interesting about the personal statement. We are a bog standard northern comp and it’s been quite sad to hear about the rejections from the very top students

It's confusing really, as Bristol which is the same level of "quality" or whatever you want to call it don't read personal statements and only go on grades. Bath also released criteria they use for heavily over subscribed courses eg mechanical engineering whereby GCSE grades are weighted at 40%, double that of predicted grades weighting, and then the rest is on the PS. It's heavily implied at both universities that for a course like Mech Eng anyone without all 8/9s and 4A* predictions is unlikely to get an offer. The offer rate is something like 30%.

But for integrated mechanical and electrical, and electronic engineering it's something like 92%.

There seems to be similar competition for Maths, Comp Sci, Psychology and Management type degrees.

I hope they all have other options that they are happy with.

No, still waiting to hear about this

Llangewydd57 · 26/02/2026 22:40

Gosh @BoxFoxes I have never heard of Bath rejecting students with such high predicted grades. Also, is your school
contextual?
I have been informed that most Unis only look at grades achieved, predicted grades and entrance exam results if there is one. This is because so many students get tutors (private) to write their personal statements, many students exaggerate their achievements, some have access to work experience, competitions, summer camps etc while many students don’t.

Ceramiq · 27/02/2026 11:13

Bath has been very quick to offer to international students this year...

CautiousLurker2 · 27/02/2026 11:24

Follow up to Southampton interview 2 weeks ago - they lowered DS’s offer to AAA, so joint lowest offer in the bag. AAB would have been ideal, but it’s close enough!

Anjo2011 · 27/02/2026 11:58

@CautiousLurker2 that’s good, I hope your DS is happy. Does he have all offers back now?

CautiousLurker2 · 27/02/2026 12:08

Anjo2011 · 27/02/2026 11:58

All except Manchester - he has an interview there first before we are told where he stands. I am told is is 99.9% likely he will get an offer as they don’t waste their time for weak candidates, but it’s the level of the offer that is important. A grade or two lower than the advertised/required ones would be a relief but he knows they will likely ask for A*A*A.

Anjo2011 · 27/02/2026 12:18

@CautiousLurker2 sending him good wishes for the Manchester outcome. It’s so tough for them isn’t it. I will be relieved for them when it’s done and they’ve made their choice. The last thing is to then get the grades!

That great news. Well done to your DC and good luck with the Manchester offer.
My DC is waiting on Imperial and LSE. Imperial should make contact before the end of April and no idea with LSE. There have been lots of offers and rejections from LSE for all courses including the one they applied to. I hope they hear soon.
