For those whose DC have submitted their UCAS application without having yet taken the A-level (or equivalent) exams…

How are your DC getting on with hearing back from the universities?

DS has heard from everywhere except Exeter - typical as that’s currently his first choice! They contacted him a month ago to ask for more info as they’d identified he may be eligible for a contextual offer. He sent his response straight back, but he’s heard nothing since. A little frustrating and he’d love to get an offer and get booked in for an OHD! Fingers crossed he gets one.

Those that have already heard from Warwick, have any been for PPE?

No, MORSE for DS

Maths for my DC. I don’t think I have seen any PPE at Warwick yet.

Maths and philosophy here.

My Dd has had offers from Exeter, Sheffield for law. Her first choice is York, second is Nottingham. She got a rejection yesterday from York she is gutted. She has the predicted grades, great GCSE’s and work experience and they don’t give feedback so she will be forever wondering what happened! Fingers crossed for Nottingham. Sending you all good wishes for the days and weeks ahead.

CautiousLurker2 · 19/02/2026 10:51

@Anjo2011 so sorry to hear she did not get an offer from York - can only assume they were very very oversubscribed by great candidates this year. It is a lovely uni (I went there 30 odd years ago) but in my experience fate has a way of making sure then end up where they are supposed to be. Exeter is a lovely as York and has a similar feel, if she is reevaluating that one, but fingers crossed for Nottingham. 🤞

Anjo2011 · 19/02/2026 10:58

@CautiousLurker2 thank you for your kind words, she still has options and once she’s got over this disappointment she can re focus. I’m sure you are right, the competition is fierce and 2008 was a big birth year so lots of applicants. I’m also a believer in what’s meant for you won’t pass you by so I’m hoping it all turns out well in the end.

@WhatWouldTheDoctorDo, DS is waiting for Warwick PPE too, applied in September, last decision.

My DD got a strange email from Bristol (law) saying her application is 'on hold' - she meets the criteria for the course, but they will make a decision later on.
Has anyone else had this, or heard of this? She applied in early November after the autumn open day. She also found out that she did well on the LNAT.

It feels like, you're OK but we'll see if anyone better comes along!

My DS has had the exact same email . Also did well on the LNAT.

to be honest it does feel like a bit like you are good enough but we will see if someone better comes along.

Has put him off quite a bit to be honest

I think Bristol put most people on hold for competitive programmes. DS was put on hold then given an offer further down the line. I think they basically process in batches and when they allocate you to a batch they email you to tell you that you are ‘on hold’.

WhatWouldTheDoctorDo · 20/02/2026 00:30

Thank you to everyone who replied to my query about Warwick PPE. The anecdotal evidence is reassuring. @ComingInByAnsible I hope they hear soon, DS has pretty much resigned himself to a rejection, but it’s encouraging to hear others are still waiting!

ComingInByAnsible · 20/02/2026 08:13

@WhatWouldTheDoctorDo, apparently in recent years the biggest wave of home non-contextual offers for Warwick PPE came in March, with further batches in April and early May. So hopefully they hear soon but there might also still be a bit of a wait. It’s certainly still too early to despair 🙂

WhatWouldTheDoctorDo · 20/02/2026 08:24

Thanks @ComingInByAnsible that’s really useful! Fingers crossed for them both! I thought the offer day was in March so annoying that he might not hear until after then.

denialandpanic · 20/02/2026 13:18

@pharos my daughter has the same from Manchester. The liberal arts pages on the website aren’t very clear on whether they can build a make your own ppe from it

I would be wary. The attempt to foist Liberal Arts degrees onto applicants who requested other courses is about filling up undersubscribed courses. The probability of getting the exact modules a student wants is unclear.

Pharos · 21/02/2026 17:17

@Ceramiq @denialandpanic Thanks - he's just not interested in their Liberal Arts degree since he did the open day and found out more about it.

I'm not sure he'd want to take the risk of firming it then not being able to change to PPE or select his modules to mimic it - the economics bit is really important to him and it doesn't look like he'd be able to access that.

TheExtraGuineaPig · 23/02/2026 11:16

My DD has the “on hold” email for law at Bristol, with offers for everywhere else she applied (though Bristol was the only LNAT one). We took it as a positive as it also says they have met the standard. We’ve also heard they tend to be later than other Unis with their law offers.

BB052028 · 23/02/2026 16:10

Anyone still waiting for London unis? DD has applied to UCL and KCL- she's desperate to be in London and has offers from all her other unis but nothing from these two. She applied in Jan (literally on the closing date!) if that makes a difference.

pinkdelight · 23/02/2026 16:27

Yeah KCL takes forever. DS applied in Oct and it's the only one he's not heard from. Expecting it to take a while yet.

Llangewydd57 · 23/02/2026 16:30

@BB052028 my DC has an offer from UCL but still waiting on Imperial and LSE. I think it depends on the subject.

Has anyone heard yet from Warwick for Cybersecurity? (Not Computer Science- it’s a separate dept). DS has received all his offers apart from this which is his favourite.

Just in case anybody else’s DC has applied for Cybersecurity at Warwick, DS has just had an offer which he’s very happy about. He just needs to get the grades now!

KCL were reeeeally slow replying last year - it was my DD’s first choice and she nearly gave up by mid March when her offer finally came through. Hang in there.

Still waiting on imperial.
If you look on the sixth-form sub Reddit you can follow the offers.

Muchtoomuchtodo · 23/02/2026 21:00

@BB052028 ds is still waiting to hear from LSE. He heard back from his other 4 choices within a couple of weeks of applying in October!
