Medicine 2026 part 2

Thought I'd start another one.

I honestly don't know how they're coping! I'm 50 and I don't think I could deal with the year 13 stress and workload for an aspiring med student. (I'm barely coping as a parent and I'm not doing any of the work). DD has three end of topic tests this week and some Chemistry olympiad round. Last week: 2 MMIs. Next week: panel interview. The week after that: 2 weeks of full mocks (four subjects, because she didn't drop the 4th...). All this while biting nails to see if you were graced with an offer (also waiting for a 4th bloody med school interview invite in DDs case 😂).

Year 13 is a series of challenges which starts with year 12 mocks and only ends (hopefully!) mid-August 2026.

Offer from Edinburgh today too. What a week! Daughter so surprised as wasn’t expecting to hear whilst other uni’s/friends still interviewing!

Congratulations. Ds had an Edinburgh offer a few years ago but declined it and went elsewhere.

One of DDs friends got a Leeds offer today. So lovely seeing their offers roll in.

Well done on Bristol and Edinburgh. Are they favourites two great choices. Son had Bristol interview yesterday. Hoping that he hear ssomething soon. When was your interview. Finding the wait difficult!

Yep DD said it was the worst interview so far, so just goes to show you really can't tell! She will be going into her Liverpool interview next week considerably more relaxed now 😂

@everydirection bristol interview two weeks ago so it was not long to wait for us. Daughter’s friend interview was before Christmas but found out the same day as her so she had to wait a bit longer. Fingers crossed you hear soon and best of luck xx

After seeing here that the Leeds offers had started to come through I asked DD to check. She found the rejection in her spam folder. She is OK as Leeds was her last choice and she had a feeling it wasn’t going to happen. Still a bummer though.

@Curlyshabtree sorry your DD missed out at Leeds, from what I have read it was very tough this year and the interviewers didn't sound that nice! When do you expect the next decision? Are they all 'end of March' like the rest of my DDs? The wait is excruciating for the first offer I am sending positive vibes for your other unis.

So excited to see more offers for our YP yesterday - well done and huge congratulations!! Relieved also some of the Leeds offers were following an interview reported as bad - just shows that no one really knows what they're looking for.

@Curlyshabtree I'm sorry to hear your DD didn't get a Leeds offer, assuming the majority of applicants in this process are likely to get a rejection, definitely preferable to be 4th choice - sending positive vibes choices 1&2 are where her destiny lies.
