Yes, it's difficult not to talk about offers/rejections. We've done 3 with the fourth one in about 2 weeks time. I'm not entirely sure what I'll do when the news breaks of one of the places starting to send out offers/rejections... do I text him whilst he's at school (I'm sure he's on all the forums I'm on except maybe fb/ and here!) or do I hang tight?!?

how do you know when the offer holder days are? have you just looked back at Newcastle's website or have they already stated this? It seems like everywhere else have sent offers immediately...! ahhhh...! hang in there...

Morning, I've been a quiet observer on the group. Congrats on all the interviews and offers so far.

Gosh this process is tough! Had to drag myself out of annoyance and into gratitude today. DD received an interview invite for Southampton today with only the 5th Feb offered, just over a week to prepare! She also has Birmingham on the 2nd Feb and an IB assessed presentation on the 4th Feb. I've suggested she ask for the presentation to be moved as she was having a mini meltdown on how to do it all perfectly!
So happy to have this group, no one else understands this second hand stress.😅

As for offers, I keep telling myself not to even think about any what ifs until we actually hear from the respective unis. DD has done 2 interviews last week and has Southampton next week, so things are at least moving.

UCL is silent and I don't expect to hear back until mid-February with either a very last minute miracle invite for one of their March dates or a pre-interview rejection. The med school did sent clickbait email last night to DD with the subject line: "You are invited... " and of course, it was once again for an online conference on cancer and AI, nothing to do with the application.

So many clickbaits! lol!! We are standing down for now - and I'm planning for half term... he's got a lot on atm. They are currently heading to an interschool regional chess tournament. The team did really well last round so.. and desperately trying to catch up all the missed work from last week!

@bluefineliner yes - I am so with you on this! It's funny how each step brings new worries, it really is pretty relentless for them. I would love to know when each uni tends to send final decisions but it seems to vary so much and from year to year. I hope today went well!

Final interview here on Thursday for Glasgow, this will be the third as pre interview rejection from Sheffield.

Ready for this part to be over and move on to exams - double trouble of A-levels and GCSEs for some added Summer fun!

My daughter is in her second year doing medicine at Bristol and is absolutely loving it!

Well done to all others with interviews and some (early) offers! I remember this time of year being so stressful and this support group was fantastic. Keep patient… there are many more months to go before some relaxation and rest. Fingers crossed to all still waiting for good news. 🤞

It was online @MyGreyBiscuit and went well according to DD, thank goodness it will keep her mood better for the rest of this week 😂. Problem with Lancaster is they are a small school so less spaces. Newcastle have their OHD dates on their website.

Sunderland offers are coming out as well, my DD and one of her best friends both got offers today.

Glad to hear the interview went well @bluefineliner Yes, Lancaster is a smaller school and I think they said they would interview more candidates this year too. Fingers firmly crossed!

Agree @notsoperfect33 that hardly anyone understands just what this process entails. Even our daughter's school seems to have limited understanding of how important it is to apply strategically. For eg, my dd was asked why she hadn't gone to the relevant open days in the summer (just not possible when you don't know your UCAT score!) It really is a massive learning curve and a gruelling experience for students (and parents!)

Indeed! Trying not to think about the usual year 13 stuff ie revision and getting the grades and the actual going to university is something I'm not allowing myself to think about! 🙃
