Yes @everydirection I think DS was quite calm with the Southampton interview...although he was quite prepped for the Sheffield MMI. one more to go but in 3 weeks time so lots of time to destress and prep for mocks.

BBB is a high offer for Advanced Highers (but looks like standard for St Andrews), especially if he's got all As in his Highers (Highers are 33 points for an A so he already has 165 UCAS points). All the other universities in Scotland ask for AAAAB at Higher and BB at Advanced Higher.

I know it is high, and as you say that is the standard for St Andrews) and that's why we're hoping he does get an offer from 2 other Scottish Unis so that he has a buffer as it's likely he would only need the BB rather than BBB.

Good eve all - DD just got an offer come through on UCAS for Cardiff !! SO pleased, (and takes the pressure off for Liverpool interview next week). Her Cardiff interview was in December and I thought we’d have to wait until e/o Feb/ March so feeling very relieved.

that is such lovely news..Well done. I love seeing the offers coming through. I had no idea what a tough process this was and how long it seems to be drawn out. They make them wait so long after the interviews. Congratulations!

Congrats! Wonderful news - my daughter got a Cardiff offer yesterday evening too. So surprised to get one this early - and delighted!

Definitely takes the pressure off and gives some much-needed motivation for upcoming exams too.

DD really enjoyed her Sheffield interview this morning. She rated it very high
as compared to the Exeter one, which was too fast paced (4 questions per 5-min station). The weather was terrible today, so we ended up going shopping and we're now killing time in a cafe, then heading to the train station.

@Peanuts79 DD also got placed on hold by Exeter today. Her interview was on Tuesday 20 Jan. Not sure what to make of it, I guess anything can happen when you're on hold. We're staying positive for now :)

Oh, and I think Southampton has still not sent the invites for the 2nd batch of school leavers (5th of Feb next interview date).

DD had her fourth and final interview today, Nottingham online. She didn’t enjoy the online aspect but happy that they’re all out of the way.
Now it’s back to the grind preparing for mocks….

Hope those ‘on holds’ turn into offers soon @Peanuts79 and @inae - and glad to hear Sheffield was an easier experience.

Great to have everything out the way @Curlyshabtree ! These interviews are a massive distraction, just hope my DD can do enough to get the grades now!

We have Lancaster online Tuesday so DD is prepping for that, might be a bit odd as it is the only online one she has but we will see how it goes. I don't think I can remember a slower January 😂.

Thanks! DD got Southampton today and she managed to avoid a clash with her mocks, but she's booked the first morning slot, so we need to book a hotel again.

Thanks, I’ll look into Premier Inn. She was only offered February 5th, which luckily works well as she has mocks the week right after.

I believe the next dates for school leavers are February 10th and 11th. Fingers crossed for your YP @PurryGrowls!

Hi! Congrats to DD @inae We stayed at the Premier Inn Cumberland Place - there’s quite a few of them dotted around. It was recommended to us. Near enough to walk from train station and also the buses that go up to university are round the corner. You can catch it from the Cenotaph which is opposite the Premier Inn, or walk round the corner and I think it’s the Gilly bridge stop.

@PurryGrowls DD's Lancaster interview is on Tues and she will come home from school at lunch time to do it at home. She thinks it will be more peaceful at home but wants to go in to distract herself in the morning. Although there now looks like a chance of snow that day so she might just stay at home to be on the safe side!

When is your DD's interview? I can't remember how long they are doing them for.

@bluefineliner It’s on the 10th Feb. My dd was initially thinking of doing it at school but someone had trouble with their computer apparently… Home probably more relaxing as long as the dog doesn’t bark 😅

How hard is it not to discuss offers far too often with your YP? Obviously the sensible advice is 'don't worry you can't change anything now, we will just have to be patient and concentrate on A levels for now'. The reality is conversations going round in circles on when/what if.

DD has Lancaster interview today and Liverpool next week, then done. However we are expecting to hear from Leeds this week, so the days are going very slowly and as it could be DD's first rejection (for pretty much everything so far) it feels far more important than I logically know it is.

Also we know that the first medicine offer holder day at Newcastle is 14 March, yet offers last year were sent 20 March and their official info is 'by the end of March'. Would they send offers after the first OHD? Wish I could fast forward a few weeks 😂.
