Following on from a year 13 support thread, thought this might be nice to ease us into their new chapters. We had a lovely one for my older DC so created this to help us navigate everything!

I agree about the stepping back. When DS went back after Christmas I knew he’d be ok, but recognised that in a way it was us that had to make the adjustment. I still worried about him, where was he, was he out late, was he back, etc. He is actually a v sensible lad and does drink but not that much (having found his limits once or twice in sixth form), so I should trust him more, and gradually I did. When we picked him up in the summer we had been apart 9 weeks, the longest ever, and we were definitely meeting him as an adult, as it were. It’s a big change for all of us.
