We moved dd into second year accommodation this week but I remember the excitement of shopping for halls so well! It’s amazing how quickly time flies by!

Good luck everyone for Thursday! My DD is doing Camp America but has promised she will get up at 3 am to get results! My DS is also getting results too and refusing to commit to any university despite having four offers so I hope it’s straightforward for her as I can’t foresee how you manage 2 sets of clearing !

2nd year - I am not sure what is happening there - it’s a great medical school and city ( not biased at all as I went there) - do they just not accept near misses ?

That is what I thought! It looked like they made a complete mess of it last year with so many taken from clearing even though it is a good school. I know someone turned down who ended up in Edinburgh. You would have thought they would be much more on top of it this year. Unless they are doing an experiment to see how relatively random picks from clearing perform compared to their usual selection process…

I wonder if it is because they say any A levels with no requirements for chem/biol they get nervous about near misses. They run an excessively high UCAT cut off too - or maybe a lot of people have them as insurance not firm?

No, it's because many of the students that they have offered places to have missed their grades. Unis got the results last week.
