SGood luck to those waiting for outcomes. I remember the feeling very well.

catmomof3 · 09/01/2024 11:10

DD just messaged me and it's a rejection. Bummed for her but now she can move on and wait to see if she gets an offer at UCL of take up her offer at Kings instead

Good luck and congratulations to everyone who got an offer.

RIPMatthewperry · 09/01/2024 11:10

UCAS only just updated for my DC just now if that helps anyone?

periodiclabel · 09/01/2024 11:11

@Lightsabre I’m very sorry to hear that. As I’ve said, being a survivor of this process twice now (and probably going again next year), I’ve been lurking and admired how you have run these threads which can be from become surprisingly contentious (!) very diplomatically and kindly. I’m here to tell you that there is most definitely a fabulous life waiting after rejection and wish your ds the very, very best

Rollergirl11 · 09/01/2024 11:12

Ahhh sorry to hear that @Lightsabre. As you say on to bigger and better things!

Waitingfortulips · 09/01/2024 11:13

A no for DS.

At the beginning he said that it wasn’t Oxford he wouldn’t apply to because he fancied living in London. He’ll be fine. We are waiting to hear from Imperial for Chemistry now with a very achievable offer hand from UCL.

What a mad process this all is.

goodbyestranger · 09/01/2024 11:13

Apologies for duff info about attachment catmomof3 - it would usually indicate an offer. Sorry you got bad news.

Revengeofthepangolins · 09/01/2024 11:15

Am getting twitchy not just that I haven't heard from DS but that my other WhatsApps to him are not getting blue ticks.

Off home to check his timetable to call him in break to check he is ok.

Rollergirl11 · 09/01/2024 11:15

Sorry it was a no @catmomof3. I’m certain your DD will do amazing wherever she goes!

BiancaBlank · 09/01/2024 11:15

Anyone heard from Lincoln? DD is in a mock this morning, due to finish any minute. She said she didn’t want to check her emails at school so have to wait for her to come home, and hope there’ll be an email waiting!

Pleasealexa · 09/01/2024 11:15

@catmomof3 disappointed for you. Your DD seemed to have a great attitude so I'm sure she will thrive wherever she is.

Revengeofthepangolins · 09/01/2024 11:16

Life 360 shows in the science block so hopefully the teachers are keeping them off their laptops

Revengeofthepangolins · 09/01/2024 11:16

They're probably tormenting fruit flies

@catmomof3 disappointed for you. Your DD seemed to have a great attitude so I'm sure she will thrive wherever she is.

She'll be upset for a while which is natural but regardless of where she goes she'll do amazing. She'll probably be more annoyed in the long that we have to move our Japan trip to Easter 2025 now 😅

My daughter has an 'open offer' - which I think means a confirmed place if she gets the grades and then the college allocation follows?

This is what DS has too. My understanding is exactly as it's put here.

mumsnoangel · 09/01/2024 11:22

My son has a place to read Biology at Keble College. I'm really sorry for those who have had disappointing news today.

Hecho · 09/01/2024 11:23

Bianca, my daughter just hears from Lincoln. It was a no. Good luck to your DD 😊

Pleasealexa · 09/01/2024 11:23

What a mad process this all is

What's been worse is that come August some offer holders might not make their grades (most don't make predicted grades in all subjects) which puts them in a difficult situation for accomodation. Applying with grades makes so much more sense

Sybill · 09/01/2024 11:26

Just want to say huge congrats to those with offers and commiserations to those who have missed out. My DD didn’t even get shortlisted for an interview (and she’s awesome 😉) so your DC have done brilliantly to get to today.
And they won’t recognise it today but how lucky are they all to have such incredibly supportive parents as you guys 👏 whether they have an offer or not, that’s worth so much to them as they navigate the transition to adulthood so well done y’all!!

KazzaV · 09/01/2024 11:26

waiting on Lincoln too ..

SeaofTranquility · 09/01/2024 11:27

Mum of twins waiting for C outcomes here. It really is such a brutal process and we should all be so proud of our kids who have given everything to this over the last year. They are all incredible kids. I'm really feeling it for all of the O candidates today. Good luck.

GrassWillBeGreener · 09/01/2024 11:29

Three years ago we were here with a rejection for DD. She thought ever so briefly about reapplying (had a number of friends and staff encouraging this), and planned a gap year as a result. Working overseas for a year was brilliant for her and she's now doing really well in 2nd year at York.

Congratulations to those with offers, but big positive hugs to those without, they will still do well.

lullubell · 09/01/2024 11:36

Offer here for my daughter. Email from the college.I can breathe now. So proud of her!! Well done to all with offers today and good luck to everyone else children where the news hasn't been what you wanted. This thread has been a lifesaver thanks all!!

PepeLePew · 09/01/2024 11:37

Best wishes to everyone waiting today (and for C in a couple of weeks). It was a very stressful day last year - DD was in an all day workshop at school so only had limited access to her phone. Her college was slightly later sending out messages than others so everyone on the thread was posting the results and I'd heard nothing from her so assumed she hadn't got in (I didn't know she was in the workshop). She finally called at 3pm to say she'd got a place.

sparkles18 · 09/01/2024 11:39

Last year my DS had a phone call from the tutor who interviewed him congratulating him and explaining why he had been moved to a different college.
