panicmode1 - ah makes sense. Am happy to jump if that’s the reason. I can see now why we have had occasional advice from those who went through this years ago.

It’s much appreciated

lullubell · 09/08/2024 09:28

@Panicmode1 thanks. I'll wait until next week before joining post results. Have lots of questions. Will be really helpful to hear from those more experienced!

PettsWoodParadise · 09/08/2024 13:11

Good luck all, DD about to go from Y1 to Y2 (C), the thread mentioned by panicmode is really friendly and helpful. DD got college married in term 2 and is looking forward to becoming a college parent and who knows it may be to one of your DCs…

lullubell · 13/08/2024 18:35

How is everyone feeling? This wait is torture!

WutheringConniption · 13/08/2024 18:48

We've all done pretty well so far this summer at putting the exam season behind us and enjoying an extended break. Over the last week though the inevitable nerves have crept in. My daugther has convinced herself she's going to miss her STEM offer, particularly after a notoriously obtuse Physics 2 paper. Good luck to everyone on this thread and fingers crossed UCAS holds up first thing on Thursday morning!

lullubell · 13/08/2024 19:00

Same here @WutheringConniption we've managed to not really think about it until this week and now the nerves have kicked in. I keep seeing posts about getting numbers ready for clearing etc and we haven't done any of that although my daughter may have! Fingers crossed for everyone.

WutheringConniption · 13/08/2024 19:12

Likewise, we haven't looked at clearing @lullubell as she's confident of making her insurance at least. Just want it done with now so we can begin to plan.

lullubell · 13/08/2024 19:20

I haven't planned or bought anything yet until we know for sure she's in!

WutheringConniption · 13/08/2024 19:26

Same - what she will need is going to vary depending on whether she gets in or not and I'd rather do a big happy 'off to uni' trip to Ikea etc rather than one before results and then one after.

WobblyLondoner · 13/08/2024 19:41

DS was very blase for much of the summer but is getting very itchy now, as am I. I just want it all over really! He will find out very early as his school email out at the same time as the UCAS refresh.

We’ve had a really difficult 12 months (incurable cancer diagnosis last year for DP) and him getting in would be such a bright spot amongst all of that.

DS was quite relaxed about the idea of not getting in, but with getting over each successive hurdle it feels increasingly high stakes and he’s now very invested. My rational brain thinks he’ll be ok, but my less rational one always worries he’s being overconfident.

Huge fingers crossed for all of you and your children!

WutheringConniption · 13/08/2024 21:14

I'm very sorry to hear that @WobblyLondoner . We lost my mum at the start of the revision period following a suddenly difficult few months. Here's to hoping for some happy news to brighten the year somewhat for our children :)

lullubell · 13/08/2024 21:23

Sorry to hear that @WobblyLondoner I hope Thursday brings good news. You are right about them getting more and more invested the closer down the road they get. My daughter is on her way back from Oxford after another visit for a couple of days with a friend. Very close timing for a visit to get more attached so hoping she gets what she deserves. I think it's sometimes harder for very hardworking children as a parent as you can see what effort they put in!

WobblyLondoner · 15/08/2024 08:18

Thanks @lullubell @WutheringConniption - he’s in!! Good luck for your two. Luckily we only had to wait until 8.02!

That's fantastic news! My daughter made it too. So relieved!

WutheringConniption · 15/08/2024 08:26

Does anyone know where I can find out the UCAS college codes please? She had an open offer, and we think the college code is for the one she applied to and interviewed but I now can't find where I saw that code in the first place.

Norma27 · 15/08/2024 08:33

My dd got in to Oxford. So happy!

@WutheringConniption DS in same boat. There is a college code on the UCAS page (it will be a capital letter). He then checked it against this document (each college has a page that shows their code). He has the college that backed his offer down on UCAS so we are assuming that’s his firm now but it would be good to be totally clear on that. www.ox.ac.uk/sites/files/oxford/field/field_document/Colleges_UGP_2016.pdf

That's perfect thank you! And we were correct - it is the college she applied to who has confirmed her place.

SOWK · 15/08/2024 08:43

DS is in to Caius - we found out via ucas before school sent results.

lullubell · 15/08/2024 08:44

She's in!!! The relief!! So happy for them all lots of happy faces at her college today

InvestedButNotOverinvested · 15/08/2024 08:49

DD also in! Very, very happy for her.

BiancaBlank · 15/08/2024 08:55

DD's place confirmed! She’s been up since 4am poor kid, but has gone off to school now to get her grades.

Now she just needs to get through the mountain of pre reading...

IThinkIMadeItWorse · 15/08/2024 09:00

DS got in to Cambridge Maths :)

TenSheds · 15/08/2024 10:28

DD is in! She's already well into the pre-reading, but it's only just beginning. Everyone over the moon.

Livingongin · 15/08/2024 10:47

Stunned here to get in to C. (Well not me but still!). Although we’ve had the ucas email he is still waiting on thr college email. Anyone had one yet. I think then he will start to believe.

hope everyone else has a good day!
