@WriterOfWrongs Interesting! DS has chosen Uni's primarily around their offer around his particular sport. Our plan is to try to speak to the coaches etc on our offer holder day.

Great news @Calmmumnot. Congratulations.

PS is everyone's DC planning on starting this September? My DS has applied for 2024 entry but plans to request deferral all being well. My middle DS did this too but for the life of me I can't remember at what stage.

WriterOfWrongs · 12/01/2024 19:02

Oh congrats @Calmmumnot ! So pleased for your DD as IIRC that was the one they wanted. King's War Studies dept looks great.

@Tenpastseven hope you can speak to the coaches on offer day. We're booked in for offer day too now, but a different one to you I believe. We're going in March.

Yes my DD is definitely planning on starting in 2024 because they already had to take a year out during A levels for health reasons so re-started Yr 13.

Great news, OP!

Fantastic news @Calmmumnot !

It must be the day for it. Unconditional for Aberdeen received here today 🙂

DS is over the moon. I could literally see the weight of worry lift off of him. He’ll be happy with that one regardless of what happens with the others.

WriterOfWrongs · 12/01/2024 20:33

Oh so pleased for your DS @zigzag716746zigzag as you'd said before that was The One! Really lovely and reassuring when that happens, because you (they?!) can relax somewhat.

Mind you, DD had that with Nottingham and I irrationally wishing her outstanding two applications would respond, even though she only applied mid Dec just before the Christmas break.

*I'm

zigzag716746zigzag · 12/01/2024 20:37

Thank you @WriterOfWrongs 😊

Yes, I know it shouldn’t really be about me, but I did have a sleepless night last night on his behalf so it’s a great relief!

(And yes, I also have already moved on to speculating about the last two, but must resign myself that we probably won’t hear on those until right at the end).

Calmmumnot · 12/01/2024 20:59

@zigzag716746zigzag Congrats!! the wait is so stressful. So happy for you.

@WriterOfWrongs he's studying History. Pastoral care is very good from what I've experienced. He had his phone and wallet stolen in the first year and they were absolutely amazing - gave him a lift home, offered to take him to get groceries on the way (as he had no way of paying) and gave him £20 cash to tide him over until his new card came. They checked up on him again several times in the following few days. I can't fault them (or the local police, who were also brilliant).

Does Oxbridge offer these degrees?

I assume for Cambridge it comes under HSPS?

doubledogdare · 17/01/2024 09:35

I always keep my phone and wallet. in my inside pocket. Like in a jacket or something.

If I'm out and about I told it very very tightly as well. And obviously I have it backedup daily.
