Has anyone applied and received offers in International Relations/Politics? where are the offers from? Thanks

My friend's son has had an offer from York with the grade requirements AAB.

Has anyone heard from Nottingham, Bristol, Durham, KCL or Exeter in this area? Thanks

Following this thread. DS has not yet put his applications in.

DS has been predicted AAA. Bristol is his most 'ambitious' application. They require AAA. Thoughts? Are the chances of an offer very slim if you meet but do not exceed the grade requirements for such a competitive course/Uni?

@Calmmumnot Bristol give quite a bit of info on what they look for. So 80% A levels, 20% GCSEs. A levels must include an essay subject but list is huge! PS is used to differentiate between similar candidates. They suggest what should be included. So it’s not necessarily about exceeding AAA. Ticking the other boxes is important too.

Have not looked at others but the above is good guidance for all I think. I’ve seen elsewhere the 3 most taken A levels are History, Politics and English Language but the subject choice given at Bristol is wide!

Thanks @TizerorFizz That’s helpful. He’s doing 3 related essay subjects and I think his PS looked pretty good. I think we were ‘compatriots’ on another thread a few years ago(me with DS2). This is DS3 now applying. Anyways, submitted now so 🤞🏻.

He’s gone for 2 x Bristol
courses, 2 x Leeds and 1 x Cardiff.

No! That ship has long gone! DD2 changed career direction and took another course to do so. Worked out for the best.

My ds starting in September at Bath but his other choices were Surrey, York, Essex and Royal Holloway. Bath took longest to respond but before Christmas.

Try not to worry if he hasn't had any offers yet. DD did an early application (different subject to your son), heard from her first uni late November, second I believe was 23rd Dec as we were surprised they were still operating), second early January, one late February and last around second week March. She received a full house of offers.

My DD is applying to St Andrews, Dundee, Aberdeen, Glasgow and Strathclyde for politics and IR but as we are Scottish I'm assuming she won't hear for months as I don't even think that Scottish government has confirmed the funding levels with the universities yet

Wow! UCAS application sent in yesterday and two unconditional offers in from Dundee and Strathclyde this afternoon. DD is over the moon

DS submitted also at the beginning of last week and an offer for Cardiff has arrived. Hold emails for courses at Bristol and Leeds - he won’t hear till Feb at earliest and possibly as late as May 😬

DS thinking of switching one of his choices to Nottingham. Have you heard from them yet?

We had to delay her UCAS as she has been very sick. Will be sending next week. Not sure if that department has started to offer.

DS has offers from Cardiff and Nottingham now. Will have to wait till after the Jan deadline for Leeds and Bristol.

Approx 1 week for Nottingham @Calmmumnot. He swapped it within the 2 week allowance.
