@UniQuestions7 that sounds really hard!
I didn’t have much of a grip, but feel free to borrow what little I had 😅
I hope a flood of offers come in soon. As you say, it’s not been long.

@TisTheDarnSeason has your son heard back from Glasgow yet? DD has withdrew from StA and firmed Glasgow with Strathclyde as insurance.

Springisnigh · 28/01/2024 12:57

Hello all,
My DS has got offers from Southampton and Nottingham - one for Politics & International Relations, one for International Relations. Apart from looking closely at the modules to see what will appeal to him more, are there any 'differences' between the two to be aware of? Is one degree perceived more highly than the other?
Huge congratulations to all DCs with offers and fingers crossed for more soon or for anyone still waiting.

Springisnigh · 28/01/2024 12:58

Sorry - I mean differences between the degrees, not between those two unis.

Probably not I guess

@doubledogdare thank you!

Hi

I just found this thread. My DD has applied for Politics and IR at Nottingham, Newcastle, York, Leeds and Bath. She’s had offers from Nottingham, Newcastle and York (all AAB) but not Leeds or Bath which are her top two. Has anyone had offers from Leeds or Bath?

thanks

Poblano · 31/01/2024 11:28

Hi @RedSeaQuestion, my DD is also waiting for Bath. She read that they don't tend to offer before the UCAS deadline (which is today), so fingers crossed we'll hear something in the next few days.

GuestWW · 31/01/2024 14:48

Early entry here, offer from Bath in November for Politics & IR and offer holder's day late March.

@RedSeaQuestion
@Poblano

RedSeaQuestion · 31/01/2024 14:54

That’s interesting. I don’t know what early entry is! Is the offer AAB for the Bath course?

Poblano · 31/01/2024 15:04

@GuestWW DD didn't apply until early December so wouldn't have had an offer then anyway.

She's hoping for an offer from LSE, in which case Bath (providing they offer) will be her insurance. If no offer from LSE I think it will be Bath firm and Exeter insurance (she has an offer from Exeter).

GuestWW · 31/01/2024 18:59

Bath firm and Exeter insurance here 😀

Bath offered is AAA or A*AB and Exeter also AAA

Poblano · 31/01/2024 20:25

@GuestWW how will that work with the insurance if the grades are the same as the firm?

I think DD's Exeter offer is ABB, so should be lower than Bath (if she gets an offer of course).

RedSeaQuestion · 31/01/2024 20:43

ABB for Exeter! That’s good! Is that the a Cornwall campus or the main campus?

GuestWW · 31/01/2024 21:29

Exeter were very flexible last year, she isn’t keen on her other offers now and was rejected by Cambridge. So Bath or bust 😂

GuestWW · 31/01/2024 21:30

@Poblano is that a contextual offer? That is a great option. Same question as @RedSeaQuestion Cornwall or main campus?

Springtime19 · 03/02/2024 18:19

Hello all, huge congratulations on all offers so far for your DC!
DS has had offers from Birmingham, Nottingham and Southampton. Very happy! Now - how to choose as he loves them all!

Smartysmitty · 04/02/2024 17:14

Hello, just found this thread! DS has grades in hand, AAA. One offer from Sheffield and waiting for Glasgow, St Andrews, LSE and Kings. Glasgow is favourite, has anyone heard from there?

Yes my DD has firmed Glasgow for IR. its a conditional offer on her completing an online academic skills module in June so not having to wait til exam results in August

Smartysmitty · 04/02/2024 18:44

Congratulations to your daughter. It sounds like a great place to study.

Hope your son hears back soon

zigzag716746zigzag · 05/02/2024 21:26

We’re getting antsy waiting for Edinburgh and St Andrews. I keep telling DS that not hearing is a good sign at this stage because it’s not a rejection (they are both a stretch).

My worry is being able to confirm accommodation elsewhere if he doesn’t get an offer, but realistically even if he gets an offer it will be conditional. I hate the waiting!

(For context, he has a medical condition which means he would need an en-suite room, hence the worry for accommodation)
