The other thread is nearly full so I took the liberty of starting a new one...

Congratulations to your DC, DuckPondering!

PettsWoodParadise · 04/07/2024 11:03

Well done to your DC @DuckPondering DD has had her first year (C) results back today, top third of faculty cohort, 2:1, but doesn't count for anything (only Y2 and Y3 results count). She has mixed feelings as pleased but also knows it doesn't 'count' so not sure how to react to it.

In awe of those in the final years getting their results, well done to your DS @beeswain and good luck to your DCs @pepperaunt and @PermanentTemporary for their internships. Fingers crosed for the result @LaundryFairy

Malbecfan · 04/07/2024 16:54

Well done to @LaundryFairy and @DuckPondering 's DC.

@PettsWoodParadise that's a really good result. To be in the top third of the cohort at Cambridge is impressive stuff.

Just heard some nice news about DD2 (non O/C). She has been awarded the Faculty Prize for coming top of her year. I think I've also come up with a plan for my DF to be looked after whilst we and DD1 go to DD2's graduation. It means a lot of driving, but DH and DF think it's a good idea. 2 weeks tomorrow!

Panicmode1 · 04/07/2024 20:00

Catching up - huge congratulations to all of those who've had their (impressive) results. DS is nervously waiting for tomorrow for his and is really concerned about 1 of the 8 papers.....

It's been a hideous week in our house so I'm keeping my fingers crossed that DS does better than he fears, to avoid putting a shitty icing on top of a particularly shitty cake. (With apologies for my language but I'm so beyond the end of my tether....)

@Panicmode1 - hope it all goes well for your DS today and for you as well.

PettsWoodParadise · 05/07/2024 08:11

@Panicmode1 thinking of you and your DS today.

pivoinerose · 05/07/2024 11:14

Chemistry is due today apparently - DD has a friend whose viva was only on Tuesday so that's a fast turnaround. DD thought her results were due by today but having re-read the notification it looks as if it could be next week. She's unsure about several more papers than a just one Panicmode1! Very good luck to your DS and I do hope DDog is much more comfortable now.

LaundryFairy · 05/07/2024 12:02

Good luck to your DS today, @Panicmode1 and to all the others still waiting on results.

Panicmode1 · 05/07/2024 13:47

Thank you all so much for your lovely wishes - a very relived DS has just phoned - a "solid 2:1" which he's thrilled about - wierdly the paper he thought was his best, was his worst! Anyway, that's a lovely piece of news to end my horrible week.

Best of luck to your DD @pivoinerose - maybe like DS, she's done much better than she feared! (DDog is recovering a little too brilliantly - her stitches don't come out until Monday evening but she's running around like a mad thing, despite our best efforts to keep her calm!)

@Panicmode1 well done to him! Lovely news.

pivoinerose · 05/07/2024 15:36

Very good Panicmode! Big congrats to DS!

LaundryFairy · 05/07/2024 16:31

Great news, Panicmode! Congratulations to your DS.

PettsWoodParadise · 05/07/2024 18:21

Great news @Panicmode1 so very pleased for your DS and more importantly for you.

While these are their achievements they don’t get there in a vacuum and when we see them dissapointed it is so disheartening for them and us as parents/carers.

Malbecfan · 05/07/2024 19:42

Great news @Panicmode1

mutterphore · 05/07/2024 21:50

@Panicmode1 congratulations to your DS! That's really good news! Hope you can now celebrate and recuperate from a difficult week.

Congratulations also to your DD2 @Malbecfan . She's done brilliantly well and I hope the plan for you all to go to her graduation works out, whilst your DF is cared for. Hope the long drive isn't too arduous.

Good luck to those waiting for their results.

PermanentTemporary · 06/07/2024 01:10

Many congrats to your ds @Panicmode1 that's lovely!

pivoinerose · 06/07/2024 09:45

DD's results did come in yesterday after all. She's very pleased - a double first (a technical thing and apparently only possible with her particular subject at Oxford but you know, if you've got it you might as well...etc :)).

Best of luck to others waiting.

PermanentTemporary · 06/07/2024 10:07

Cor @pivoinerose that's brilliant!

PettsWoodParadise · 06/07/2024 10:12

@pivoinerose wow, wow, wow! Well done your DD and all those who’ve helped her on the journey.

pivoinerose · 06/07/2024 10:18

Thank you very much both :) Some surprises with certain papers for sure!

mutterphore · 06/07/2024 11:24

@pivoinerose fantastic news for your DD! What a stellar result!

LaundryFairy · 06/07/2024 11:38

That’s fantastic, @pivoinerose !! Congratulations to your DD - you must be so pleased for her.

Malbecfan · 06/07/2024 11:45

@pivoinerose that's amazing news!

AprilBringsTheSweetSpringShowers · 06/07/2024 12:08

Congratulations to your DD, @pivoinerose . That’s amazing!

pivoinerose · 06/07/2024 12:47

Thank you all - very kind. This is genuinely a lovely thread. Yes, I can't deny I'm thrilled for her.

DS has also just phoned to say that he's been offered a research fellowship after an interview yesterday (he would probably be very irritated if I named the uni). His first salary so very exciting. Just his DPhil viva to get through now (next week).

So now it's in my nature to be on red alert for a milk float whizzing round the corner because it currently feels a bit too good for us collectively. Tbf I failed to win the Omaze Surrey house yesterday so hopefully that counts a bit towards reducing the credit of luck.
