Just for nosiness and due to excitement about DS’s application going in, wondered if we could have a thread with people sharing offers as they are received, during this early phase.

Has anyone had an offer yet? Who will be first?

And totally realise that most won’t have applied yet and won’t do so for months and that’s absolutely fine and more normal.

loobylou44,DD is also applying to Reading. Can I ask what they offered your DD? Rest of DDs list is Southampton, Sussex and Bristol.

Has anyone heard of UCL sending out interview invites for English yet?

@catmomof3 No I haven't, which seems really odd given they said the interviews happen from nov to March. Unlesss the invites have all gone to people who are keeping v quiet about it

@Revengeofthepangolins That's why I asked because I was doing some research and they did lots in November last year. Someone on reddit said their two friends have interviews but I haven't actually seen anyone post about getting one themselves. Very frustrating.

I haven't seen any posted. DD really hoping for UCL so have been keeping a keen eye out.

There is a UCL thread on TSR and a couple of people on there have had English interviews.

DD applied for a different course there and they sent her some questions to answer, interview type questions but written answers.

I read there and the person said it was their friends, not seen anyone post that they have one themselves.

Oh bother - had hoped not having heard anything meant UCL english hadn't started.

@Revengeofthepangolins Same, my DD is now panicking as UCL is her first choice after Oxford. I've told her to not panic as they don't interview everybody at once.

@loobylou44 great offers, especially the Reading one! DD's reference is finally finished and being uploaded to UCAS this morning so everything crossed that she gets some offers in, I'd love her to have a couple before Christmas to just settle her...........

Yes, if they interview until March, there will be an awful lot of people whose interview is way after their application went in. Maybe they do a chunk in November, some but not all of the early applicants as there will be a lot of these, and then start again in January.

The UCL English process is a little odd numbers-wise. Last year they offered to 29% of applicants, but the website says they tend to interview around 400 of the circa 1000 applicants, which seems strangely low, or, to put it the other way, a 75% offer rate to interviewed candidates is oddly high. Doesn't really seem worth the big investment of time for them.

Last year's 29% was really low, caused by a both a surge in applications and reduction in number of offers compared to previous years.

Wow, if 29% is low (ie usually higher) and they offer to 40% that does seem a bit of a lopsided process.

My DS is also waiting for UCL but not English. Hope they all hear soon.
