MrsBennetsPoorNerves · 17/08/2023 07:22

Good luck everyone. So nervous! Poor dd couldn't sleep last night!

jasminetrampoline · 17/08/2023 07:22

Good luck everyone, really hope your DC get the results they deserve.

Cratos · 17/08/2023 08:09

We heard good news from the College website. But nothing on UCAS yet.

justjuggling · 17/08/2023 08:13

My dd has had an unsuccessful email from UCAS. She’s gutted. What a nightmare.

Monkey2001 · 17/08/2023 08:49

Urghh, sorry to hear that @justjuggling. Will feel very raw now, but they all move on from these blips and it hurts less. We are all here if she needs help thinking about what to do next.

My current view about Medicine is that there are now many pathways through other roles such as PA and nursing which can end up in very similar jobs. DS's GF is glad she did nursing when she did not get the A level grades she wanted, is getting a first in nursing this year, got her first choice of job and is planning to go down the ANP route with a lot less debt and more control over what she does on the way and where she does it. Not saying that is right for everyone, just that the distinctions between the roles are not what they were. I think I would encourage anyone to use their 5th choice for PA.

kackle · 17/08/2023 08:57

Rejected by Bristol. Accepted at UEA

Thethingswedoforlove · 17/08/2023 08:58

Congratulations @kackle . Your dc is going to be a doctor!

Ame45 · 17/08/2023 09:02

Good news here too- off to Cardiff. Thanks so much for all the advice this time last year- never thought we’d get to this point after the UCAT flop.
Good luck to all.

Cratos · 17/08/2023 09:05

@justjuggling I am sorry to hear that. We all learnt that it is a very big achievement to come to this stage. Such a difficult process.

Sluj · 17/08/2023 09:06

@kackle , well done. I can assure you UEA is wonderful and your doctor will get a brilliant preparation for their career in beautiful surroundings
Proud mum of a UEA F3 here who has been keeping an eye on this forum.

My son is off to UEA he did 4 A levels and thanks to @mumsneedwine and @Monkey2001 we applied strategically knowing chemistry was his weakest subject which he got a B in. A⭐️, A & A in the other three so it was the best choice for him. Thanks so much for your support.

Unexpecteddrivinginstructor · 17/08/2023 09:37

Dd got her grades and is off to her first choice uni.

Unexpecteddrivinginstructor · 17/08/2023 09:38

Thank you to everyone for all the wonderful support and help. It made such a difference.

My dd has had an unsuccessful email from UCAS. She’s gutted. What a nightmare.

Do you know anything about grades etc? Is it worth exploring reviews of marking or similar (you may have to pay).

I know at my school we're seriously considering putting some students forwards for this for some science subjects, because we're not totally happy with the marking (although AQA are always ridiculously pedantic).

Postapocalypticcowgirl · 17/08/2023 09:48

Also, congratulations to all those who've got in, of course!

mumsneedwine · 17/08/2023 09:53

Congratulations to those who have had good news. And if not, take some time to consider options.
All been good here, pretty much as expected.
Be back later

wijjjy · 17/08/2023 09:56
