New thread for the start of the Oxbridge offers.

Yes I'm following that too mumof3. Sigh.....

Januarytoes · 25/01/2023 10:18

Thank you EightyTwenty.
We are nervously waiting... but I don't know why we're nervous, because DS himself doesn't seem to be worried - he has other offers for excellent courses! 😌

juicy0 · 25/01/2023 10:21

@Eightytwenty that's reassuring as St A is also a main contender for DS.
TSR posting suggests perhaps updates are arriving ....

Panicmode1 · 25/01/2023 10:28

Friend's daughter has just had hers through so they are coming....Good luck everyone!!

Pumpkintopf · 25/01/2023 10:36

Good luck to all of you awaiting C news today. DS was very disappointed two years ago not to get in but delighted to get an Imperial offer shortly afterwards and is absolutely loving London life so was definitely the best outcome for him.

I hope all of your DC get the outcome that's right for them.

multivac · 25/01/2023 10:44

Rejection here. Onwards and upwards x

Karwomannghia · 25/01/2023 10:49

Oh sorry to hear that. Hope they have other offers they’re happy with.

Karmacat · 25/01/2023 10:50

Rejection here too. It's a cruel process but onwards and upwards!

Onesunnydayiniceland · 25/01/2023 10:58

To all of disappointed DCs today, it will work out in the end. DD was rejected for veterinary medicine, her disappointment lasted until she received her offer for from Edinburgh and hasn't looked back since.

juicy0 · 25/01/2023 11:05

DS has an offer! Wow, it's been an emotional rollercoaster for all these months but thank you all for the advice and support which definitely helped me to support him. So sorry to those with DC who didn't get the news you hoped for today x

PettsWoodParadise · 25/01/2023 11:06

Offer for DD from Newnham. Don't know what the grade offer is as she was crying so much over the phone and I was too. Nothing is certain until results day of course.

ThanksForYourHelp · 25/01/2023 11:10

Rejected.

Teriyakieverything · 25/01/2023 11:13

Offer for NatSci. Over the moon.
But not from the original college though and very high conditions, AAA with the A* in Further Maths (not even just Maths) and Chemistry.

Congratulations to your DS - and the other offer holders! Almost identical to my DS (incl having been pooled) for last year (tho diff subject - engineering). He was glad to have got the A star in the FM - the pace they go is brutal and he said he reached the limit of his FM knowledge by about week 5 of term 1. He also is very happy at his college, even though it wasn't his original choice.

Commiserations to those who have not been lucky, but as many of us 'Oxbridge rejects' and those with children who didn't get offers in recent intakes will attest, it hurts like hell at the time, but all manage to thrive at alternative unis, who are very lucky to have (had) them (us)!

HairyMaclary · 25/01/2023 11:28

Rejection here too. Secretly I’m very pleased as DS does not cope well with pressure and C would be pressured!

He doesn’t seem too disappointed but I think he was putting a bit of a brave face on, I’ll find out the real story tonight! He’s got good offers in the bag though for places he’s happy with.

Good luck all!

Hogofogo · 25/01/2023 11:43

@Hertsessex congratulations to your DD! Pembroke is beautiful. What subject?

@Hertsessex congratulations to your DD! Pembroke is beautiful. What subject?

I'd rather not say as "outing" but thank you and yes it really does seem like beautiful place. I'm jealous not me spending time there :)

ACJane · 25/01/2023 11:46

A rejection here too.

madcattersteaparty · 25/01/2023 11:56

An offer here! Not from the original college but delighted. Thoughts with everyone who didn't get what they hoped for.

Poppycat23 · 25/01/2023 11:59

A rejection here too. I have mixed feelings. I'm disappointed for my DS but as a Cambridge graduate myself I know how pressured it is and I do think he may be better suited, and ultimately happier, at one of his other choices.

Congratulations to everyone who has been successful and also to everyone for making it this far.

lilyofthe · 25/01/2023 12:04

An offer here for DS who was a reapplicant. How do you know what college the offer is from? UCAT only says C05? Where do you look?

Karwomannghia · 25/01/2023 12:06

Someone else posted this earlier www.undergraduate.study.cam.ac.uk/applying/decisions
does C maybe mean Clare college??

madcattersteaparty · 25/01/2023 12:10

Do you think the location is the college? It says location and then a letter.
