Congratulations to your DD @UnclearNuclear 🎉🎉🎉Is that Edinburgh RUK standard offer?

I think AAB is contextual offer from memory

Unexpecteddrivinginstructor · 02/03/2023 21:46

@Cratos fairly sure that Sheffield said you can defer up to two years no questions asked because they would prefer you to be ready to study than wishing you were in Goa.

justjuggling · 02/03/2023 23:58

Congrats to your DCs @Cathpot and @UnclearNuclear 🙂

Africa2go · 03/03/2023 08:13

Fabulous that all these offers are coming in. Got my fingers crossed that today might bring some news for my DD.

Really hope that they don't keep her waiting too long... and that it is worth the wait when she does hear something!

Thethingswedoforlove · 03/03/2023 14:20

I’m hoping for news from Nottingham next week @Africa2go . My dd hasnt heard from anywhere either yet…

opoponax · 03/03/2023 14:23

DD is waiting for Notts here too @Thethingswedoforlove . @Africa2go I hope your DD gets good news very soon. It's an agonising wait for a first offer.

My DD hasn’t heard from anywhere yet either. UEA, EXETER and BSMS. Suspect she’s a no for UEA as lots of offers have been made already so keeping fingers crossed for the other 2, particularly BSMS which has been her preference almost right from the start. We have started talking about a plan B gap year though so at least she’s remaining level headed about it all.

wijjjy · 03/03/2023 17:25

@Africa2go My Daughter has 3 out of the same 4 (UCL instead of Nottingham) and waiting after interview for all of them. I don't think any of them have made offers yet. Agonising.

Yep its good news in one sense that no-one's heard, the waiting is just agonising - think I mentioned upthread that she has a non-medic twin who got his 1st choice offer within a couple of days of submitting his UCAS form almost 6 months ago so it really is tough for her.

Anyway, here's looking forward to next week 🙄

Yes, anyone watching this thread for next year - apply for at least one in Scotland! (I don't actually mean this, unless you are contextual it is hard to get interviews in Scotland if you are RUK)

I know, it seems a very long time since those pre-Christmas Scottish offers!

kk10 · 03/03/2023 20:29

Has anyone's DC heard from QMUL? Our DS was told at interview that offers will be made mid to late March but TSR is full of offer messages from 1st of March. Some saying that's it for Barts now. Any thoughts

@MrsBennetsPoorNerves DD has a Bart's offer. But I have not been following them, lots of medical schools have sent offers to their high scorers but will be doing more batches.

kk10 · 03/03/2023 22:29

@MrsBennetsPoorNerves congratulations to your DD 👏🏽👏🏽

Pip4764 · 05/03/2023 08:13

Just after a bit of advice, DD has decided to accept the Edinburgh offer and decline the Aberdeen offer, even though she’s still waiting to hear from St Andrews and just withdraw prior to hearing, as she is set on Edinburgh and ironically she can’t put an insurance choice down because Edinburgh has the lowest conditions (2Bs at AH). Is there something we are missing in doing this, as long as she is 100% sure?
Fingers crossed for more offers coming in this week for you all 😊

Needmoresleep · 05/03/2023 09:25

My advice would be to put both down. One example a friend of DDs had family issues which meant she had to defer. Her firm would not allow it. Her second choice would. And similarly having two options during the Covid chaos was probably a good thing.

It costs nothing to keep both.

MrsBennetsPoorNerves · 05/03/2023 09:36

kk10 · 03/03/2023 22:29

@MrsBennetsPoorNerves congratulations to your DD 👏🏽👏🏽

Thank you@kk10. I hope your ds hears something soon.

I think DD had one of the earlier interviews at Barts - possibly because of high UCAT score or maybe just because our surname would come early if they did it in alphabetical order. So it might be that they send out offers in the same order as the interviews?

kk10 · 05/03/2023 10:18

@MrsBennetsPoorNerves thank you. Really hope so. DS thought Barts was his best interview out of 4. So to still not hear back, is very worrying. I am just about keeping it together for DS sake's

mumsneedwine · 05/03/2023 11:01

@Pip4764 why rush ? No decision is needed until May/June and she'll gain nothing by firming now. An insurance can be useful as Unis treat dropped grades in different ways, and as has been said, no harm in putting an insurance just in case if you have one.

Pip4764 · 05/03/2023 11:16

@Needmoresleep @mumsneedwine thank you, hadn’t thought of those things, DD said UCAS wouldn’t allow you to put an insurance choice with higher required conditional grades….but not sure how much she has looked into that comment! Expert advice as always on here…thank you!!

Monkey2001 · 05/03/2023 12:55

@Pip4764 it sounds like she is confused by the advice that your insurance offer should be lower than your Firm. In 2019 or 2020 Aberdeen made all their Scottish offers unconditional between offer and results day!

Big congratulations to your DD !!! Are you from Scotland ? I thought Edinburgh requirements were higher than B.
