Had a quick look and I assume it’s the exam they are talking about on TSR Cardiff Med thread:-

@medParent my DS has the request for documents etc, his interview is on 13th Jan. It came from [email protected] Wed, 21 Dec 2022, 9:25 am
Subject: Further Information regarding your interview at Leicester Medical School

I suggest a search in email using those details. Don't forget to check Promotions.

Happy new year everyone.

@Monkey2001 we did check and the email was not there. Today morning my DD spoke to admissions team and they have forwarded the email.
So she is getting ready for her interview on coming Friday.

Cathpot · 04/01/2023 16:35

@Peachy2005
Thank you very much for taking the time and finding that conversation- really appreciate it. I had a poke about myself and found nothing at all! I had come to the hopeful conclusion that the point of it was you can’t prepare and I can see from that chat they all have been told not to talk about it. That’s actually reassuring as it means she isn’t missing some vital bit of info/ email, and I think will reassure her that she just needs to turn up and do her best.

1st interview done this week - DC took it in her stride, I've had sleepless nights!!! Good luck to all the DC (and parents!) with post Christmas interviews!

Pip4764 · 05/01/2023 18:02

And you, we are 2 interviews down, 2 next week, then prelims the following week….yikes!

Oh good luck to your DC - I think now the first one is done, next week's will be less stressful for me. Mocks not for a while yet here but I think the workload just keeps coming this year for them.

Cathpot · 05/01/2023 21:49

DD did the Cardiff mini on line test thing today, not sure how it went as it was a bit quirky- and very short. Afterwards she had to rush around finishing some coursework last last LAST minute and handed that in, then sort of came to a halt. I was quite worried about her she was completely knackered. However she seems to have perked up this evening. She got yet another email from Southhampton saying … ‘we will be telling everyone … soon’. Are they normally later?

IGoWalkingAfterMidnight · 06/01/2023 09:36

Re the Cardiff online test - what does ‘quirky’ mean?!

Good luck to everyone - whatever stage of application you’re at.

France2023 · 06/01/2023 13:56

Anyone still on hold for Bristol? I know some rejection emails went out mid December for some on hold previously but DC not had any updates yet. DC has an interview next week for Newcastle which seems like a tough one over 2 hours long!

Monkey2001 · 06/01/2023 17:57

Surely there must be more Bristol interviews to come @France2023 . Cut off currently looks around 2980, which is clearly ridiculous!

Cratos · 06/01/2023 18:59

My DS is on hold for Bristol with 2960 Ucat. Fingers crossed.

France2023 · 06/01/2023 19:04

Fingers crossed here too @Cratos hopefully @Monkey2001 the 2980 cut off will come down 🤞

Thanks Cathpot.

Hope your DD feels better soon - the pressure of the application process seems unrelenting and can make anyone rundown.

Very best of luck to her for the next stage of interviews.

opoponax · 06/01/2023 20:28

Happy New Year everyone. Can I please ask that no-one talks about interview/selection process content. It's fine to speak in general terms about interviews i.e. to say if the DC thought they went well or not but please maintain confidentiality about all content as the med schools take this very seriously.

OP posts:
Cathpot · 06/01/2023 20:58

Yes that is a fair comment @opoponax The general sections in the test are known beforehand to those taking it and I didn’t think my post is giving away anything helpful- but I can ask to remove it if necessary?

opoponax · 06/01/2023 21:15

@Cathpot I believe the guideline is that when it is anything that is communicated directly to invited candidates, it's best to keep it off public chat as it is not intended for public domain. If it's on the website and public info it's different. Anything that is actual content of interview is off limits. It is a really fine line. Up to you whether you want to remove your post or not as you have a much better idea of its context.

Sorry to hear your DD is feeling unwell. It's great to get interviews but it can feel a bit overwhelming when they are trying to juggle it with school demands. They feel pretty wiped out after them too. Hope you both manage to have a relaxing weekend.

@opoponax fair point! DS had his first interview today. His dad and I sat outside in the car guarding the door so no one could ring the bell to disturb him😅DS wanted everyone out of the house during interview. Interesting times !

opoponax · 06/01/2023 22:56

Good to have one under his belt @kk10. I remember when DS did his lockdown online ones having to take the dog and DD out together while he did them. DD got exasperated having to join her remote lessons from my car. DH's role was to hide out at the other end of the house to be on hand for any tech fail issues. It felt like a military operation!

My dd had her (first?!) interview today. She seemed to think it was ok. Was a huge relief when it was done…: and now to turn attention to mocks (and the other interview if it materialises!)

opoponax · 06/01/2023 23:38

Glad your DD felt it went well @Thethingswedoforlove. I think it gives them a mentall boost for the following ones if the first one at least doesn't feel like a disaster. Hope your DD gets some more good news soon. DD has two interviews bang in the middle of mocks. Couldn't be avoided with the booking options she was given. She seems quite stoical but is looking tired.

opoponax · 06/01/2023 23:39

Since when did mental have two 'lls'?! Reflection of my own mental state at the moment.

Pip4764 · 07/01/2023 07:53

@opoponax lol I think we are all feeling the pressure, really didn’t expect it o be this stressful, I told my DD that S6 would be a fun and good year….now rephrasing that as….you can enjoy S6 after your UCAT/PS/interviews/prelims and exams….in June 😂. Good luck!!

Thethingswedoforlove · 07/01/2023 09:12

@opoponax huge thoughts and best wishes to your dd for her mocks and both her interviews happening at the same time. It’s just never ending the stress, isn’t it…. But actually I am also trying to get dd to enjoy her last year at school too. The friendships are strong, the kindness towards each other is very impressive and there is lots to be celebrated. I’m trying to help her remain positive! Whilst also feeling overwhelmed and exhausted. Doesn’t help to have another dd doing gcse mocks all at the same time!

mumsneedwine · 07/01/2023 13:15

Best of luck to you all. It is a v stressful process and hard to keep focused on exams when still waiting for offers. But they will come 😊🤞. You only need one.
