I know what you mean, good to get news of one offer in the bag! Hopefully it won't be long for your DS.
He has applied for Classical Studies, also to Cambridge and St A like your DS along with Exeter and UCL

@sparkles18 DS school also start next week, they are doing mock zoom and in person interviews to cover all bases which is great. DS thinks finding time to prep will be difficult as he's in a musical production running for 4 nights next week and has rehearsals every eve and this weekend. Such a busy time of year for them!

Re Edinburgh, my DD Oxford fresher ( Classics) received an email acknowledging her application when she submitted her UCAS application- in early October It said that they expected an increase in applications in comparison to the previous year- can’t remember the rest tbh!
At approximately this point in time in 2021 Edinburgh also emailed all UCAS leads in schools to say that ‘majority’ of offers - or words to that effect- would be after the January deadline
DD got her offer on the same day.
Other Universities also adopted the same approach in the sense that they didn’t envisage giving early offers but did in the autumn and then in early spring.

DD is a third year Oxford Classicist and got a relatively early offer from St Andrews. She applied to Glasgow (who gave her an offer by return) but not to Edinburgh.

Oxford written work submitted - phew! I reckon grandson is shaping up well for university life - a bit of brinkmanship nicely played…

New to the thread, but my DS has recieved an invitation to a zoom interview at Cambridge in December!

@madcattersteaparty wow congratulations to your DS. That must be a relief to have scaled through to this next stage. Good luck to him.

Thank you all! It's in December, for Geography. He has 45 mins at the start, invigilated, to read through some material and then the interview after that. He's pleased because the interviewers are people he's come across before in online lectures (which are still on YouTube for him to rewatch). The information says he can do it at school or home, and I'm hoping school will facilitate this for him because the pressure on us if something goes wrong is huge! Plus he can wear his uniform, I guess.

Thank you! He didn't need to submit any written work or do any tests, just the additional form, so that might be why his interview came through quickly.

Hi I have a DC at C for Geog (different college though), madcattersteaparty. Love the username! CC is a great college. Mind you, they all are.

@fudgeroo that's great to hear. Does your DC love it? And I'm still hazy about the college system - do they all have geography together in one main department but live in the college? Or are some classes within the college?
