A new, friendly thread.

Unconditionals? Wow! Does your dc already have their results?

Firefox1066 · 06/01/2023 20:29

DS has offers from Warwick (his second choice after Oxford), Durham and KCL. Other than Oxford, the only outstanding is UCL.

No mention of Tuesday from DS at all in the last few days...amazing how calm they are (Im a wreck!)

Dd has offers from Bristol, Manchester and Liverpool. Waiting for Edinburgh and Oxford (😬)
Is excited to go to Bristol so hopefully it's win win whatever Tuesday brings.

My DD is also waiting for Oxford and Durham but has offers for Warwick, Exeter and Bristol and would chose Bristol if she doesn't get the other two. Bristol clearly did well on the open day!

Hopping onto the thread (hope that’s ok!) as the tension mounts for Oxford on Tuesday.
Wondering how to support my son if he doesn’t get a place. He does have offers from 3 of his other 4, one of which, Manchester, is probably a more suitable course, but I can tell the wait is getting to him now. It’s all good life experience I suppose. We don’t always get what we want!

FriendlyLaundryMonster · 07/01/2023 10:10

DS only has one offer through, and even then it's not quite the full offer (as it's for a fully sponsored programme, so he still has tests to do, i.e. it's an offer of the place without sponsorship). Waiting for Cambridge, Imperial, St Andrews and Edinburgh. It's horrible!

Aurea · 07/01/2023 12:44

Hi Friendly Laundry Monster

That's great your DS has an offer. Which course is that for and where? Is it comp sci as well?x

Magimus · 07/01/2023 16:21

DS does have a couple of offers. I am finding this stage a bit strange to navigate as a parent. Trying to be ready to support for all outcomes and just feeling in limbo.

Posie23 · 07/01/2023 16:27

DD also has a couple of offers, although most of her friends who were not early entry already have all 5! I think she just wants some certainty now either way

FriendlyLaundryMonster · 07/01/2023 16:51

@Aurea, his offer is for comp sci, yes, at Birmingham. He put it down as he quite liked the idea of the sponsored degree, but he'll have to jump through some hoops to see if he gets that (therefore, doesn't really feel like a proper offer :(

Riverpebble · 07/01/2023 21:50

Welcome Truffled.

The tension is mounting here. Annoyingly work have put me on a long shift on Tuesday so I won't see ds until hours later.

I can't decide whether to start a new thread on Monday evening regardless of number of posts in case Tuesday I'd suddenly busy.

I think I might. If I do, I'll post the link on here.

I think that would be a good idea @Riverpebble this thread is very close to the end at page 36…….it might not even make it through tomorrow 🤣

GerronBuzanDoThaWomwok · 08/01/2023 02:42

DS has been very fortunate with offers from St Andrews, Durham and Edinburgh-but the countdown for Oxford has begun in earnest. I think I need to take Tuesday off!!! I think his brother's offer email 2 years ago arrived around 8am 😱

Riverpebble · 08/01/2023 07:50
