Exeter and UEA interviews arrived today for DD. She came home from school bursting to share the news! Her other 2 choices are BMAT universities so keeping fingers crossed for those.

All feels a bit real now!

BungledBundle · 15/11/2022 15:47

I hope, very shortly really, but at least by the time this cohort graduates that they have finally realised how valuable our medical profession are and start to pay them more!

DD has been invited for an interview at Aberdeen. Very pleased for her.

Thethingswedoforlove · 15/11/2022 16:08

So many. Congrats to all receiving interview invitations! So happy to hear….

wijjjy · 15/11/2022 16:11

@Randomactofkindness

Carlisle infirmary do some sort of open experience days. I don't know the contact but here is a report from the last

www.itv.com/news/border/2022-07-01/health-trust-invites-local-students-to-learn-about-a-career-in-medicine

They also do interview practice. Sorry I can't provide link.

Lottsbiffandsmudge · 15/11/2022 16:30

DS has an Exeter interview in Feb! Phew.

Randomactofkindness · 15/11/2022 16:40

@wijjjy thank you - I work for the trust so will try to find out if they are doing it again next year.
My DD had wrote to Dr Buchanan in the summer asking about this but got no reply…….

Monkey2001 · 15/11/2022 16:55

@Lottsbiffandsmudge Feb, wow, that is a long wait! Do you know how many points she had in the Exeter scoring table? There have been some surprising WP interviews and either something strange has happened or the cut off is significantly lower than anyone expected.

user73 · 15/11/2022 17:06

Yes there have apparently been really low interview offers at Exeter

Cathpot · 15/11/2022 17:15

DD’s friend has just got Exeter interview this evening with a low UCAT. Very pleased for her as she is lovely and has had lots to deal with. She is part of their Exeter scholars programme which I think gives you more chance of interview.

DD meanwhile is waiting to hear anything from her choices. She is worried that she got all the initial ‘we have your application’ notifications, but then didnt get the standard ‘if you are invited to interview ‘ information email from one of her choices, although another friend did from the same uni. I am presuming it’s fine but she is fretting. Would it be counterproductive to email admissions and just check they have her application? On the one hand I don’t want to presume it’s fine and then find it isn’t on the other I can’t imagine how busy admissions must be at the moment.

Cratos · 15/11/2022 17:18

Congratulations for everybody getting interviews 👏

kk10 · 15/11/2022 17:47

Good luck to all who have received interview call. Waiting game continues for us for Barts, Liverpool, Leicester and KMMS

MrsBennetsPoorNerves · 15/11/2022 18:02

Congratulations on all the interviews. Nothing here so far. DD is waiting for Barts, Imperial, UCL & Manchester. I'm optimistic about the ucat ones as she has an excellent ucat score. Very nervous about the two bmat options as the exam didn't go too well. Just waiting to see what happens...

Good luck to everyone!

DS has perfect GCSEs , 3 A star predicteds and 2970 ucat so 100% on their table last year . So was expecting an interview. Non contextual. Not sure why so late. Hope that's not a bad sign?

Lottsbiffandsmudge · 15/11/2022 18:22

He is happy with the wait as hoping for Cambs and Sheffiled ivs so pleased Exeter have avoided Dec

opoponax · 15/11/2022 18:36

@Monkey2001 is it usual for Bristol to only offer a few very early dates? When DS applied I am sure he had a lot more dates to choose from. He was able to book his for mid-January. Skates on!

@MrsBennetsPoorNerves you could have quite a wait to hear from Manchester. DS applied 2 years ago with >3100 UCAT and didn't hear until 7th December.

Saving the best till last?! Probably just random.

Monkey2001 · 15/11/2022 19:25

@opoponax quite a few of them release dates as they get through the batches to avoid everyone choosing the latest date - like kids going to the back of a classroom/lecture theatre!

mumsneedwine · 15/11/2022 19:28

Congratulations everyone. Interviews trickling in at school today. So nice to be starting earlier.

user73 · 15/11/2022 21:01

interviews with 2540 being reported so thats a turn up for the books.

Thethingswedoforlove · 15/11/2022 21:02

@user73 at which university?

user73 · 15/11/2022 21:05

exeter

Monkey2001 · 15/11/2022 21:08

Yes, I think something odd is happening with contextual applicants at Exeter. It could be that they are in a special local area guaranteed interview scheme, but a few people with low scores on the Admissions score table have got interviews. As well as the person with 2540, there was someone with 2600 and predicted AAB.

opoponax · 15/11/2022 21:52

Yes, Exeter contextual looks very odd on TSR. Also, someone posting Bristol interview with 2820 UCAT non-contextual when all the other DC who posted interviews had UCATS approx 3200 upwards. Maybe another local area scheme.
