No places are offered for Medicine without a n interview (although not all applicants get as far through the process as this).

mumsneedwine · 16/10/2022 15:43

@HAMROGUE yes, the 5th choices. Unis don't even have UCAT scores yet. They'll be delivered first week of November and nothing will happen until mid Nov at the v v earliest. BMAT this week so good luck for everyone sitting that. Been running a revision session today in school and now off home.

MrsBennetsPoorNerves · 16/10/2022 15:53

That's great that you're doing revision sessions @mumsneedwine. DD seems to be the only one at her school doing BMAT so she feels a bit on her own with it.

Some revision has taken place over the weekend, but she is off out this evening. Whatever she manages to do tomorrow, I hope it will be enough!

mumsneedwine · 16/10/2022 15:55

@MrsBennetsPoorNerves all she can do is her best 😊. To be honest all we do is some revision of GCSE and a little AS stuff. Mostly it's to try and build a little confidence & give them a warm place to study. A lot don't have that at home.

Yes, I can well imagine...I work with a lot of families who are really struggling at the moment. Your students are lucky to have a teacher that cares as much as you do...it must make a massive difference.Flowers

@MrsBennetsPoorNerves 😊 I've eaten a lot of pizza and drunk a lot of tea. Hoping the husband has peeled the spuds as fancy a roast.

Sounds like you have earned it!Smile

@mumsneedwine wishing the best of luck to your brood for BMAT tomorrow. They are indeed very lucky to have you. Also lots of luck to the other DC on the thread. At least there is not the tech fail issue to worry about this year.

My DD is the only one at her school doing it too. Support from school has been non existent so it has been a huge learning curve for DD and me! Fingers crossed for BMAT on Tuesday, another thing to get ticked off. 🙂

Yes, will be glad to have it ticked off and out of the way!! It's taking up far too much headspace at the moment!

Just hope that she does OK as her top 2 choices are BMAT unis! Having said that, she would be happy with any one of her choices. Just hope that she gets something!

Lottsbiffandsmudge · 16/10/2022 16:29

BMAT is definitely Tuesday right? Getting worried now...

mumsneedwine · 16/10/2022 16:29

@Lottsbiffandsmudge yea 😂😂

Lottsbiffandsmudge · 16/10/2022 16:32

Phew I was reading previous messages wrong then!!! I was desperately trying to find schools email!!!! DS upstairs cramming as we speak.
Out of interest and checking he's right he says Sec 1 was changed for 2020 onwards so the past papers before then are not how Tues sec 1 will look.
Has anyone else got info? He found the info on a board somewhere....

opoponax · 16/10/2022 16:35

Sorry meant Tuesday! There are a number of DC sitting BMAT at my DD's school but there hasn't been any help with it. They have just left them to get on with it like with the UCAT.

Sorry!!!!! DD not doing it. That's why I am a bit out of synch.

@Lottsbiffandsmudge I think section 2 changed in 2019 for 2020 entry (DS1 did it in 2018 and 2019). I don't think the changes were huge though. The more relevant thing is that it has got harder over the years to get good marks, I put that down to people being better prepared because there are more resources and past papers out for preparation.

Monkey2001 · 17/10/2022 22:15

GOOD LUCK TO THE BMAT TAKERS!!!!

MrsBennetsPoorNerves · 17/10/2022 22:25

Thank you @Monkey2001. DD did a pretty disastrous mock earlier, so not sure what's going to happen tomorrow. Hoping that it's a bit like a bad dress rehearsal!!

Yes thoughts to any lurking BMat takers and @MrsBennetsPoorNerves‘s dd in particular.

Thank you so much @Unexpecteddrivinginstructor and @Thethingswedoforlove! Really appreciate it!

WhiteCarnation · 18/10/2022 10:08

Good luck to all the BMATers. I think results are out 25 Nov. What are others doing for interview prep, if anything?

Lottsbiffandsmudge · 18/10/2022 11:34

Well DS said sec 1 and 3 OK but Sec 2 was hideous. The hardest he has tried. Anyway move on now....

wijjjy · 18/10/2022 11:40

@Lottsbiffandsmudge Same for DD, section 2 "extremely hard" and her friends also doing it had the same impression.
